Yeah... I already made my decision to hate the movie before you spoke, but I appriciate your views. I did not like Malcovich, Sam, Carly, or... nope... I only like Simmons. He was the only one having fun with the movie that wasn't dicking around with Bumblebee. It was a fast, twitchy, mess of a movie. I know that I'm a G1 fanboy, and with that in mind I say... Wasnt a bad movie I must admit. The twins were replaced by the Wreckers and some of the deaths were in yer face (Litterly) some of it was just patriotic pipe blowing the addition of Buzz Aldrin was one thing that made me think it was a "This is your life" to the space program seeing as it was coming to a screeching halt in real life. Megatron IMHO was a bit pointless he was a RAWR im gonna bitch slap you character and always got battered by Sentinel Prime.
as for the 4th one, i'm thinking cybertron is now unicron (it looked all orange and had agaping maw/hole when it was destroyed) and galvatron pops up...seen as all the cons are now dead...it would make sense to got the whole remake-the-dead-ones-into new-ones routine,
well you did see skids and mudflaps cars for like 1 scene and my only question with the movie was how does optimus have the matrix >.< he blew it but what ever otherwise ace movie :D

I agree, dude. I expected much more Soundwave. Still, a bit of an improvement from the useless version of him from the second movie. Mind you, the ROTF Deluxe Soundwave toy was brilliant. StarScream, my absolute favourite character, was a pussy, as you mentioned. As for IronHide? His death annoyed me a bit, I think Que should've died earlier, and IronHide have been the one who got executed... Just, Ya know, to give him more in this film. I liked the ferrari's design, but he was rather underused.
I really enjoyed the film, but I have one major complaint: the Decepticons do not live up to their full potential. It's like you said, they aren't such a credible threat anymore, especially if a group nine Autobots, one being a scientist and two being useless tiny things, can take them out.
Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave were pretty cool. But only Megatron had any truly awesome moments (scaring off half of Africa and blowing up poor Lincoln and pinching his chair).

yeah its all about the action but a big enough plot hole will ruin even that. All that work Agent Simmons did collecting info about transformers (remember under the deli's reefer in TF2?) and he TOTALLY MISSED the whole moon thing? Uhhhh...no.

My problem with the movie was that it wasn't really a Transformers movie. It was a generic summer blockbuster made up of bits stolen from better summer blockbusters. It was an alien invasion - the fact that they were Transformers didn't matter to the plot. Disguise didn't feature in the story except for the really, really obvious bit with the girl's car. The cons were all generic - and some of them were driving vehicles! I thought the whole pt of Transformers was they TURNED INTO vehicles!
@Sarcasticron The driving vehicles thing. Extra protection? Bigger guns? No flight mode? Vehicles have been there since G1. What is more threatening? A mass of ships or an armada of bigger ships and bigger guns?
If there is a sequel, it would probably use Unicron resurrecting Megatron as Galvatron, and I suppose there'd be Cyclonus, Scourge and the generic Sweeps (?). That's about the only way they could repopulate the villain side.
I really enjoyed the movie, and Mr Thew, you sum it pretty god damn well. My only niggle with it is (Spoiler alert.... oh wait, Mr Thew already mentioned) the way Starscream gets killed, I don't mind the fact that he got killed (ok ok, so i was almost in tears), but why did have to be so horrible??? he could of had some awesome dogfight when the the Decepticon Air cover becomes shamble. instead he has his eyes ripped out with an stupidly accurate grapple gun. I just pray he pulls a megatron.

Why not have Starscream get his head blown clean off by Ratchet after the two were ripping eachother apart for 3 minutes, Ratchet repairs himself enough to survive.
I was wondering about that giant cloverfield looking guy too, that thing was awesome! Not as awesome as Shockwaves pet/mount worm of course, who by the way, was named "The Driller" How shit is that? I would have preferred they called it Rumble, that'd be sweet. As for the twins, they WERE in the movie, they were in the shot with all the Autobots getting rounded up onto their space ship, they just didn't say or do anything the entire movie, thank fuck.

Anywho, I am gonna get some more DOTM toys but, I only have CrankCase and DOTM Ratchet/Which I recommend since that one is LOADS better than the ROTF version. DOTM Megs looks good and I'll probably get him/Considering that I'm trading my TFA Voyager Megs with MatterSmasher, I'm gonna try to get the HA SoundWave/It's bloody SoundWave and that's probably about it. I will try to hunt down the HFTD Voyager Optimus though.

Oh, I disagree with you at the end, there. Well, not completely, a deluxe Soundwave would be rad. It's just that whether they could give him his proper name or not you know that red car was Mirage. Not only was Mirage one of my favorite G1 guys(even though I only watched the show and he didn't really do much), but his robot mode just looked extremely sexy to me. I would love to have a deluxe and stand him right next to the Hasbro Sidearm Sideswipe. Could be great.
yeah, you know, after the first movie i knew what to expect. in ROTF all i wanted was a couple of minutes of soundwave, a couple of minutes of ravage, some cool robots explosions and a good toyline... so for DOTM all i want is a couple minutes of shockwave a couple of minutes of laserbeak some cool robots and explosions and a good toyline...
as long as you have realistic expectations the films are just fine!
There were quite a few hidden things like the star trek episode which was playing during scene with sam and carly in their house. In which wheelie comments "its the one where spock goes nuts".Nice and subtle homages that will probably tempt you into buying the dvd just to see them all.
Dunno whether there is gonna be another movie, since Bay announced that he wont direct them anymore...
Btw I hated the movie...again, but not as bad as the first 2 movies. I liked the part the bots were about to be blast into space again (G1-episode-memory)
Have watched the Red Letter Media review yesterday rather dampened my enjoyment of yours . I don't know why people have adapted the attitude that action movies with lots of action can't have a decent story. I guess the constant onslaught of safe summer blockbusters by folks like Micheal Bay have convinced people of this.
I personally have no interest in seeing these movies unless they have depth to them, if I want a nonstop explosion fest I'll play a video game
The twins were supposed to die after Ironhide. Sentinel was to fire at bee but Skids jumps in front of him and saves his life and Mudflap was going to die avenging Skids. It was in the novel
most people don't notice this and I could just be spewing nonsense. But I'm pretty sure the twins got slaged by devastator. in the fight the last scene they were in they both get blasted in the head with a missle so it looks anyway. and then devastator is off climbing pryimids, also in the big last scene on the boat you can see all the autobots off in cornor just kind of chilling, no twins.
I didn't like that the robot scenes were all under a second long and I saw them already in the trailers. I went to the movie wondering what else happened. Like Dino. I wanted to see some circuitsu after he hit that pose.
I also believe that starscream is portrayed in the same way southpark portrays Paris Hilton. Yup, they hate starscream.
Thew! Awesome review and I rather liked Carley myself. So much better than Mikaila and Carley was a better character/actress than I thought she would have been. She was actually surprising! I also want the Cloverfield bot to become a Voyager toy and I hope you review Voyager Optimus first.

Was hoping the Ark would turn out to be Omega Supreme, but sadly it didn't happen. But if you look closely during the opening scene on Cybertron, the ship's turret is sorta shaped like his head. I guess the ILM guys watched some Animated.
I thought it was interesting how they referee to cybertron as just a planet and not "PRIMAS" the god of transformers and I thought it was interesting that he looked like just a bunch of shapes oh well lol
I'm glad to finally see a die-hard transformers fan such as yourself that actually enjoyed the film for what it was. As you pointed out, fanboy rage at the lack of G1-ness of the movie should have been left behind after the first film. I, for one am just glad that the TF franchise was given such a healthy boost in popularity so that it can continue (even if it is with a new director). BTW, who do you think can take over the reins after Bay?
Too lazy to read the other comments but they did show off a Deluxe Soundwave at Comic Con and it actually looks pretty ace, at least in comparison to the Human Alliance.
I can imagine the 4th film introducing Unicron and Galvatron. Guess that's probably where they'll have to go. I personally enjoyed the movie, mostly because I knew what I was getting into. the thing is about movies like Transformers is that they're just fun and stupid movies that you can enjoy with your mates. Hell, that's the main reason why me and my girlfriend hunt high and low for some really shitty flicks.

Dion, for me, had a bit of ROTF Jolt about him. he appears with no real introduction, does nothing the whole film then does something which you feel coulda been handled by someone else. (ratchet should have had more of a hand in resurrecting prime in rotf) they just seem a bit superfluous and lets be honest are only there to sell the inevitable toy!
I swear I saw Bulkhead in there. But yes, t'was a fun movie. Laserbeak kicked ass and the humans weren't annoying. I was actually kind of shocked at how screwed up Wheeljack's death was. Soundwave is ice cold, man.
Also I find it hilarious that Shockwave got literally _one_ line in the whole movie, and yet was loads scarier that Soundwave.

in the book apparently, ( i didn't read it) says that mudflap and skids were 1st to go by Sentinel, in fact skids was supposed to have dived infront of Bee just as Sentinel shot him, and died taking one for the team, and some how mudflap follows...i dont understand why they would cut them out...good talk, love your vids. Anywho, I am gonna get some more DOTM toys but, I only have CrankCase and DOTM Ratchet/Which I recommend since that one is LOADS better than the ROTF version. DOTM Megs looks good and I'll probably get him/Considering that I'm trading my TFA Voyager Megs with MatterSmasher, I'm gonna try to get the HA SoundWave/It's bloody SoundWave and that's probably about it. I will try to hunt down the HFTD Voyager Optimus though.

Oh, I disagree with you at the end, there. Well, not completely, a deluxe Soundwave would be rad. It's just that whether they could give him his proper name or not you know that red car was Mirage. Not only was Mirage one of my favorite G1 guys(even though I only watched the show and he didn't really do much), but his robot mode just looked extremely sexy to me. I would love to have a deluxe and stand him right next to the Hasbro Sidearm Sideswipe. Could be great.

yeah, you know, after the first movie i knew what to expect. in ROTF all i wanted was a couple of minutes of soundwave, a couple of minutes of ravage, some cool robots explosions and a good toyline... so for DOTM all i want is a couple minutes of shockwave a couple of minutes of laserbeak some cool robots and explosions and a good toyline...
as long as you have realistic expectations the films are just fine!

There were quite a few hidden things like the star trek episode which was playing during scene with sam and carly in their house. In which wheelie comments "its the one where spock goes nuts".Nice and subtle homages that will probably tempt you into buying the dvd just to see them all.

Have watched the Red Letter Media review yesterday rather dampened my enjoyment of yours . I don't know why people have adapted the attitude that action movies with lots of action can't have a decent story. I guess the constant onslaught of safe summer blockbusters by folks like Micheal Bay have convinced people of this.
I personally have no interest in seeing these movies unless they have depth to them, if I want a nonstop explosion fest I'll play a video game

The twins were supposed to die after Ironhide. Sentinel was to fire at bee but Skids jumps in front of him and saves his life and Mudflap was going to die avenging Skids. It was in the novel

most people don't notice this and I could just be spewing nonsense. But I'm pretty sure the twins got slaged by devastator. in the fight the last scene they were in they both get blasted in the head with a missle so it looks anyway. and then devastator is off climbing pryimids, also in the big last scene on the boat you can see all the autobots off in cornor just kind of chilling, no twins.

I didn't like that the robot scenes were all under a second long and I saw them already in the trailers. I went to the movie wondering what else happened. Like Dino. I wanted to see some circuitsu after he hit that pose.
I also believe that starscream is portrayed in the same way southpark portrays Paris Hilton. Yup, they hate starscream.

Thew! Awesome review and I rather liked Carley myself. So much better than Mikaila and Carley was a better character/actress than I thought she would have been. She was actually surprising! I also want the Cloverfield bot to become a Voyager toy and I hope you review Voyager Optimus first.

I'm glad to finally see a die-hard transformers fan such as yourself that actually enjoyed the film for what it was. As you pointed out, fanboy rage at the lack of G1-ness of the movie should have been left behind after the first film. I, for one am just glad that the TF franchise was given such a healthy boost in popularity so that it can continue (even if it is with a new director). BTW, who do you think can take over the reins after Bay?

I can imagine the 4th film introducing Unicron and Galvatron. Guess that's probably where they'll have to go. I personally enjoyed the movie, mostly because I knew what I was getting into. the thing is about movies like Transformers is that they're just fun and stupid movies that you can enjoy with your mates. Hell, that's the main reason why me and my girlfriend hunt high and low for some really shitty flicks.

Dion, for me, had a bit of ROTF Jolt about him. he appears with no real introduction, does nothing the whole film then does something which you feel coulda been handled by someone else. (ratchet should have had more of a hand in resurrecting prime in rotf) they just seem a bit superfluous and lets be honest are only there to sell the inevitable toy!

I swear I saw Bulkhead in there. But yes, t'was a fun movie. Laserbeak kicked ass and the humans weren't annoying. I was actually kind of shocked at how screwed up Wheeljack's death was. Soundwave is ice cold, man.
Also I find it hilarious that Shockwave got literally _one_ line in the whole movie, and yet was loads scarier that Soundwave.

in the book apparently, ( i didn't read it) says that mudflap and skids were 1st to go by Sentinel, in fact skids was supposed to have dived infront of Bee just as Sentinel shot him, and died taking one for the team, and some how mudflap follows...i dont understand why they would cut them out...good talk, love your vids.
