@parapilot1453 for the price, go to aeriane dot com. for the training there are loads of options. However, if you could fly a couple of time in a glider, you'd up and ready quickly.
I love this film. There is something special about foot launching. The Swift is the result of a great team effort and a credit to all involved. The camera work editing and choice of music are a reward for all of us who are facinated by flight.
How easy is it too land a swift in constricted air fields?
The swift in the last few seconds of the video seemed to have less ground effect than my Mark IV but I couldn't tell how fast of a headwind he was landing in. The eastern US where I fly has a lot of fields but they aren't wide open like that...there are a lot of woods in between the fields.
Also, how is the view looking forward? Is it constricted?
These are basically modern extrapolations of Alexander Lippisch's Storch Nurflugel, very beautiful! I unfortunately live in the flat central US, so I'd need one with a micro-turbojet or electric motor. :)
It's a microlight and he's legal all over the world (weight with engine ~80kg, as foot launching hang glider: 48kg with closed cokpit).
The engine is a Bailey 4 troke 18hp, foldable prop, consumption at level at 90km/h : 2L/hour so whe can fly 4 hours with the little 8 liter gas tank...in comparision, the electic powered model is only a very expansive "gadjet" ...
Good jugement... However, it is a very stable wing. I never had troubles with it. You could learn easily and once you get the important bases, join us ;-)
i didnt meant only the skills you need, but also having free time, money and knoledge of maintain and/or repair it, plus the lessons wich as i find out long ago wont cost that much.
Depends: if you use it with the engine, it requires a micro light licence. If not, an paragliding (yes you can) or an handglider licence is good enough.
The glider is impressivily easy to fly, but make sure to take the little training provided by your retailer.
What's the price of swift? I find on one franch site that is around 28.000 euros!!! IMOSSIBIRU!!!

how hard is the training for the swift, and about how much does one cost? im a paraglider pilot, but if i move to Europe i might consider buying one
parapilot1453 1 year ago
@parapilot1453 hey respect, i paraglide to. it looks like it retains energy way better than a paraglider... sorry to barge in
nickoswoos 11 months ago
@nickoswoos It's ok. You're right. Kinetic is always higher with this type of glider.

is this a microlight or a powered glider?
ryanas 2 years ago
Can be both. It can be powered by either an electrical or a conventional engine. However, it is really built for free flying.

Enjoy your future Ariel Atom ;-)
orouchard 2 years ago
if this costs less than an ariel atom im buying one!!!
routhoula 2 years ago
I have no clue how much costs an Atom.
But Swift'light costs about 21'500€ (glider version). The PAS version (Swift'Light + 4-stroke engine unit+ closed fairing) is about 29'000€.
Mind you, buying is one thing, flying is another. You must be a qualified pilot to fly it or you will loose your life.
orouchard 2 years ago
well an ariel atom costs close to 50000Eu but im guessing that a swift needs more than just a drivers licence.

Speaking of being qualified...what is the rule? sport pilots lic.? hang glider lic.?
Thanks, are these readily available still?
