  • A song for angels... written in men's land.

  • What makes me so sad is that if Peter was on this is would be absoloutley gut wrenching. Beautiful enough on it's own but just imagine

  • One of the best songs everrrrrr.

  • This song seriously keeps me going from day to day. Thank you Carl Barat.

  • BEAUTIFUL. I heard this live at Koko, magical moment :)

  • 3:00 <3

  • Thumbs up if this song's made you cry before. :')

  • Jesus fucking christ. Stop spamming your shit puamethod. Reported.

  • @Badhabitsjay I know hey. It really sucks. I actually used to own this channel, hadn't uploaded anything in ages and a dude who claimed to be a mega fan of Russell Brand offered me $100 for it. I was broke so I accepted but this spam shit is so low. If I'd known he was gonna use it for some shit mysoginist dating site there's no way I would have given it to him.

  • better photo??

  • LOVE. 'nuff said.

  • Perfection

  • really? then y n the hell r these ppl calling him carlos?? im so confused!! lol

i read the comments where they call him carlos & i was like'"damn, i didnt know his name was carlos, i thought it was simply carl!" & now i have u saying that it is carl (which is what i though!) but i dont get y the rest of these ppl have decided to change his name to carlos?! very strange! i feel like im n the twilight zone!!

"taking the piss" lmao nice phrase! u must b brit!! :)

  • @montereyhippie bro ppl call him carlos cus carl in spanish means carlos that is the why xD ahh and in some interview pete call carl "carlos" xD

  • @montereyhippie Carlos was a nickname that pete gave him :)

  • @unemmatitled "You called?"

  • so good

  • Pena que the libertines se encerrou... mas nós ainda temos acesso ao que eles fizeram de bom( claro música)... isso muito importa!

  • nice

  • favourite song by this band =]

  • his name is carlos?? i thought is was carl!! lol here n the usa, carl can b a name on its own...its not short for anything so i didnt realize that his actual name was carlos & it was being shortened! obviously im not a huge fan but i like the few songs (of theirs) that i know :)

  • @montereyhippie na his name is just carl. his full name is Carl ashley raphael barat, unless wikipedia is taking the piss

  • the trumpets at the end....

  • the trumpets at th end....

  • though I prefer him with Pete together, this song is brilliant. Well done Carlos!

  • fell in love with this song first time I heard it. I'm still madley in love with this song.

this song deserves its own fanclub.

  • yeah, i could never resist to that

  • Great song, but the recording is, in my opinion, a bit overproduced.

The Beginning is the best part, would of preferred it just acoustic.

Mariehuanaa: Yeah, he stole it from GG ”Scumfuck” Allin :)

Google the lyrics for ”Guns, Bitches, Brawls and Bottles”

  • To me, this is their best song.... lyrics, melody, music, sentiment, sound, TRUTH. A good song is one you'll never get tired of hearing and you listen to the words every time... this is one of them for me. I'll always be glad to hear it!

  • i love you, Carlos. you are such an amazing artist.

  • damn.... Yesterday I could even Dj... not NOW!!!!!!!!! (i´LL KEEP YOU ALL PROPERLY INFORMED)

  • He reminds me of michael bubble

  • @DrunkInAGolfCart , are you a pua?

  • incredible =0)

  • So... now I'm strung somewhere between a dream and humdrum day to day routine a laurel wreath from the door to my heart (8) :(

  • @daniau What does he mean with "a laurel wreath from the door to my heart"??

  • @Umbabumba A laurel wreath has been a symbol of victory, purity and excellence stretching back into Ancient Greece where laurel wreathes were then, as they are now, presented to the winners of the sporting contest. Peter & Carlos know their literature and history so this isn't co-incidence. One of the million reasons to love Barat & Doherty!

  • @ArcadianQueen is there a particular reason y u spelled coincidence w/ a hyphen??

  • @montereyhippie stylistic preference.

  • @ArcadianQueen lol ok just wondering for my own curiosity...i thought it was for another reason but now i see i was reading too much into it! :) paix

  • this always gives me shivers, lyrics are simply amazing.

"We can beg, steal and borrow.."

    hmm, sounds pretty familiar ;D

  • really nice song

  • " For some friends you have not met yet,

some will die for you , I bet,

    so hold on for tomorrow"...

    this is priceless....

  • This is such a perfect example of the songwriter's craft that it almost moves me to tears. Five and a bit minutes of perfection; if Carl Barat never wrote another song, this song would prove his worth.

  • when I listened to this song i thought i had heard it before but.. i don't think i have.. i've listened this song SO many times today.. every free moment i had today i would listen to it.. it sounds extreme but it's true

i think Carlos is a Amazing musician who deserves much more attention than he gets right now.. and Pete deserves more Positive attention!

sorry for my english.. i know people read that alot here but... yeah..

  • Please stop playing Pete and Carl off against each other.

  • oh so sentimental..so nice...carl is major

  • oh,those lips, please!!!i'd say the song's first of all sang so very well, carlos's shining here(little beatles-alike singing),even if it's just a song, which it is imo:)neither barat neither doherty is a genius, though i really like them both, don't know which1more.they're just coolLADS, fortunatelyPRETTYdifferent from each other,as anyone can hear on they post-libs doings.jesus, they're old now...like 30-something...:/gosh,so much time passed since libs.wonder what they'll be like if they reunite.

  • Ich liebe es!!!Sommer 09 :)

  • Really nice, but please be sure to check out Grace/Wasteland by Mr. Doherty. Truly, truly

  • my fave song <3

  • Carl > Pete

  • Pete haves really rock anrol attitude

  • Pete Doherty is brilliant, but Carl is a fucking genius

  • fantastic!

hate, love, and much more feelings in just one song!

  • I think this song reflects carl's dignity, sincerity and tenderness to others.

I am poor at English. But his lyrics really touch my heart and teach me importance of friendship.

"You lose your will. And I can lend you mine."

Only carl can write such tender lyrics like this.

  • wow barat i love you

  • AWESOME!! ♥

  • LIBERTINES; I MISS YOU!

  • love the song <3

this is what talent is about...

  • up the Barat!

fuck doherty the dirty theiving junkie!

  • i agree

  • this is brilliant, no other words for it ...

  • honestly if he keeps making stuff like this i could give a fuck if the libertines get back together

  • well just imagine how brilliant new libertines stuff would be.

  • October 1, 2008 what a sad day :(:(:(

    great song great band :]

    love you carlos <3

  • si se volvieran a juntar los libertines regrezarian como unos de los mejores grupos de Inglaterra

  • DPT is definitley a better band then Babyshambles. Still, I do miss the Libertines. I hope those rumors of reunion are more than mere rumors.

  • Hey linivo!

I did same too ! I have the song on my ipod and on my way to school i listen to it. But when i walked raindrops falled down. That was really wonderfull!

  • absolutely amazing song. Romance at short notice is one of the most underated albums of the last ten years. Thanks for posting

  • 'For all the friends you've not yet met

Some would die for you I bet

    So hold on for tomorrow'

    Awesome lyrics.

  • nice song... =)

  • This band show get more recognition, buy their album randomly and now love them.Great lyrics, great band. They played in my town last summer and I missed them because I didn't know they existed, sickened!

  • everyone's gonna hate me but i just have to say it:

    DPT>Libertines

  • i'm not sure about that, but DPT sure >babyshambles

  • libertines reunion 2010! the days of magic will return!

  • Carl is one of the greatest songwriters of our time!

  • hold your horses :P

  • such a beautiful song!!!

looking forward to the solo album of this awesome man :D

  • 'For all the friends you've not yet met'

I have that tattooed on my arm. Simply an amazing song.

  • brilliant song

  • this song really makes me feel so happy and fearless... last time i heard it i walked down a street in the sunshine and on my ipod i listened to the song... amazing...

  • RASN has two references to the Blinding EP. Beg steal and Borrow on this track and Sedative on Blood on my shoe.

  • I got this album when it first came out because I loved the Dirty Pretty Things but it took me a while to notice this song. Now I just love it, honestly think it is a great great song and will always be so very underrated.

  • enough said indeed. I admit, when this album came out, I did not give it enough credit, which it truly deserves because this is music is so deeply rooted in the timeframe it came out it. I was trying to keep the image of the libertines pure and shunned this new, more produced album, while still allowing that babyshambles was likely the best band playing..

But this, this is at least equally and truly great music.

  • perfect! can't stop listening...

  • aw carl....will ever be again on earth a man like you ?? I don't think so

  • probably carl barat's best song

  • Amazing!

  • Cet homme est un dieu.

  • (this man is a god)

  • Lots of people say he's just a great musician..but his writing skill is awesome...

    This song is amazing

Ps.:Sorry about my english...I'm from Brazil...

  • The english was perfect..

  • Comment removed

  • seriously amazing

  • fucking incredible

  • maybe this is one of those songs tat needs to be covered by a more famous band to finally get known. this is a fantastic, fantastic song. off a great album too,my favourite of last year.

  • so true!! this song could be a classic! they were an amazing band that finished before they had a chance to make it big.. think they were so underrated.. sadly.. cuz of the members history..I will miss them!

  • I play this song in my car and my kids - a boy 10 years and a girl 7 years old - sing it along with Carl, and I feel so proud of myself cause I think... well.. they're learning the best

  • favourite song. well at the moment anyway

  • ye he taught pete to play it

  • he is just as good a songwriter as peter doherty. end of.

  • he's a much better guitarist

  • the trumpet is fuckin amazing

  • sounds like the beatles:)

  • best on the album by a mile..

  • this song is underrated

  • this is where the truth begins ohhh

  • BEST FUCKING SERVER EVER!!!

  • "what you want's to stay away from people like me who twist most everything they see and leave the grey old world behind you"

    love that part

  • OH :O he sed beg steal and borrow, petes lyrics, probs an inside joke

  • such a quality song, reunite the libz!!!

  • I luv this song so much. I bought it on the day of release mainly out of loyalty to the libertines because I thought the first album was a disappointment. Man was I surprised at how good it was. Each song is a classic, the lyrics are well written and it is melodic. I had preferred Pete's solo stuff and still think DIA is the greatest rock album but I my rankings were really shaken when I listened to RASN. Carl and Pete are unbelievably gifted geniuses. So is Patrick Walden.

  • Carlos hit his stride with this album. Agree with your assesment.

  • carl's best song

  • yeah, it's totally his best song. although i love almost every single song he makes, but this is the best,.

  • i love this song

    its well good :D

im so buying the album !!!!!!

can't belive there splitting up tho

  • we'll go to mineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • this song is so beautiful..brings a tear to my eye.

libertines will never die..once they live in our hearts

  • so there calling it quits after this tour.

in this song he says the sun will shine again 2morrow. much like dont look back into the sun- which is about the tabloids... but still

and beg steal or borrow? eh eh. i think the libertines are not quite as dead as it may seem!

  • Let's hope so.

  • He's the best!!!!!

  • Barat is the better singer and musician but Doherty is the better lyricist. I prefer Barat because while he's more of an introvert off stage he really rocks and shows his inner values on stage. Doherty's become the hostage of his image.

  • personally i believe it is the other way round, i think that if pete doherty were to do a cover album of the dp things everyone would think it was genious because i think pete doherty has a more charasmatic way of singing and performing i think Barat has always been shuned to the side remember all songs on the librtine were co written, more or less

  • I couldn't agree more..

  • I prefer Barat too, and i disagree on the part where you say Doherty it's the best lyricist. I do think Barat it's the best lyricist, i've heard like the babyshambles songs and i don't find the lyrics to be as good as i would expect them to be. But then again, i'm kind of a big fan of Dirty Pretty Things, so.... anyway i like them both better when they were the libertines. And you're right, Doherty has become the hostage of his image

  • I love Carl and Pete but that's everything I'd like to have said if my english was good enough..

  • for all the friends you've ever met, some you'll love and some forget, just hold on for tomorrow.

    Love this song

  • Bravo! beautiful song, so many Lib references, shout out to Peter

  • pete doherty is NOT better than Carl.

They're both very talented individually but need each other to create the spark that were The Libertines.

And this song sums up entirely Carl's underrated genius.

I love The Libertines but still wish DPT hadn't split up/

  • I love it. The first time i heard it, i cried.

to giovb87; Pete is better ? Pete is different.

  • ew. pete is in no way better.

carl has inner beauty and he is a

complete genius. his brain comprehends things

that pete never could begin to fathom.

  • This is my favorite song on the album.

  • mine too.

  • Good shout, mine too. Awesome song, awesome lyrics.

  • mine too!

  • For all the friends you've not met yet.. Some would die for you, I'd bet!

  • Carl wrote this with Anthony so let's give Mr. Rossomando some love.

  • From what I gather, Anthony only wrote the bit he sings on (which, lets face it, isn't much).

Credit to Anthony I guess, but I think of this as Carl's song.

  • Wow. this is so great.

  • sooooooooooooooooooooo wunderfull

    wow i LOVE it

  • how about... we all just listen to the music we like, and stop making everything serious?

im happy now just to let reelrecords fester, the spritely fellar.

ive ripped him with my comments, so im happy, but really, shall we just listen to the music we like, and enjoy it? yeah? cool :]

    <3 the DPT's x

    muchly

  • Ok I just watched your stuff I don't believe you're getting a record contract. Your videos are like one incredible bad trip the only good one is "hunger and greed" which I thought the chorus of was actually pretty cool. xXx

  • How is that pedantic? You said Pete was fake and I said that I'm sure in his situation you wouldn't be 100% true to yourself; it's difficult to tell what that even is sometimes. I don't think there are, in any media, really not even on TV or anything..? Well good for you if that's true it doesn't make you a better person, but still honestly good luck. I didn't say you would be I said you wouldn't be true to yourself 100% of the time. xXx

  • I'm sure you're not true to yourself 100% of the time ReelRecordsTV and I'm positive you wouldn't be once hounded by the media so give the guy a fucking break. I resent people who have too strong an opinion it usually prevents one from being open. xXx

  • Best track on the album imho, and all the songs are blinding. Great band great album great track.

  • Great song, great band, great lyrics, going to see them early october in wolves :)

  • wats wrong with the words?

  • 'for all the friends you've not yet met, some would die for you i bet'

love this line, love DPT, top tune, top album

    end of.

  • the melody of this song is so nice. try listening to it without paying attention to the words. :)

  • btw, great awesome song thanks so much for posting!!

  • i've only just begun to explore Dirty Pretty Things, Russell Brand's devotion to them piqued my curiousity. This song is great! I look forward to escavating through more of their tunes

  • Heh, I discovered Russell Brand because of DPT. I watched him interviewing Carl a while back which ended in me curiously shuffling through all his youtube videos and then downloading the radio shows.

If you're new to DPT, you should check out One To My Left and Nine Lives. Probably their best songs aside from this one.

  • there's some really good tunes on the first album like gin and milk, blood thirsty bastards, you fucking love it etc. you should check it out.

  • I love the libertines, i love them until now and I think I ever will.. but, wtf, this is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my entire life. And as John Lennon said once (talking about a never to happen Beatles reunion), even if they could do it, why should they walk over the water again?

  • this song is immense, one of the best of any of carl or petes work in my opinion.

also i think the new dpt album has been harshly criticised, i think its really good.... and of corse hopes remain 4 the reutn of the libertines ! ! ! ! !

  • i love this song. one of my favorites.

  • " we can beg steal and borrow" this and varuois other lyrics whos a big sign that this will be the last dirty pretty things album and the next will be a libertines one ....or so it appears to me who is hoping that thats the case

  • I wouldn't be surprised if the song is about Pete, but I don't think he's hinting at a reunion. How many times does the poor man have to say he has no plans for a "reunion" before people start believing him?

I can't see them reuniting unless Pete is clean and that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.

  • he always says there will be a reunion...he just says not now....as he says the libertines are "on ice" then he refers to the tatoo on his arm

  • Actually he says the libertines are on ice, and have unfinished business

  • Yeah, but the "unfinished business" quote, in context, was just him explaining why the reunion gig from last year had a such an effect on him. He's said repeatedly that's he's got no plans of reuniting with Pete any time soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if they got back together in a couple of years, but: 1. I don't think it will happen anytime soon and 2. I don't think this song is hinting at such an event.

  • I agree...doesn't mean that it would be awesome, but I just recently read an interview with Carl and the way he talks about what happened between him and pete, he is still hurt. One reason he drinks more than he should. Like when pete said he'd rather be raped than go through such a thing again...wounds heal slowly

  • Do you remember what interview he said he'd rather be raped in?

  • Sounds good a little slower maybe someone is getting a few more early nights these da
