I'm a guitarist and I was fortunate to play on their CD, "Pee Wee, Maceo and Fred, The JBs", in the early 90's. I wrote a tune on there called "Blues a la LS" which featured Pee Wee. He's a greatly under-appreciated player! Later, Fred toured Europe with us, and a year or so after that, I toured France, as Lucky Peterson's bandleader, opening for Mr. Brown! Since I had already worked with the JBs, I knew a bit more what to expect. They told us some great James Brown stories. I LOVE these guys!!!
thanks for this saw thse 2 at ronnie scotts in london during this tour my mate got into the dressing room and bored fred to death going over his stuff brilliant night
Anyone who made a song like The Chicken (DON'T BE CONFUSED PEOPLE. JACO DIDN'T MAKE THE CHICKEN. PEE WEE ELLIS MADE IT. JACO MADE IT HIS SIGNATURE SONG.) has to be given a little bit more credit than what they are given.
Dear Ernie Ray
I think you need to retract your suggestion that you wrote the song Blues A La L.S.
You most certainly did not, that was an original song written by Pee Wee Ellis.
There is no album 'Pee Wee Maceo and Fred the JB's either. Pee Wee was never in the JB's and never recorded with them.
I have been Pee Wee's manager for 20 years and have never heard of you, and nor does he remember you, so I think you need to get your facts right.

For some reason the sound is WAY off from the film!! You can still hear Fred's trombone solo after he put the trombone down for about 5 seconds!!
