  • Insulted by her saying 1 and 5 cent pieces are useless. My step-father kept all his spare change at the end of the day and dumped it in a bucket, years later it was thousands of dollars. Respect money more, but I doubt you will because you aren't paying for your shit, are you? Probably your rich-ass mofo parents who shit on pennies, nickels, and dimes.

  • looooooove your vids! you always have an upbeat demeanor and you really do teach us a lot with a smile. please keep making vids!

  • are you still in japan?

  • In Canada we use 1 Dollar coins :D

  • @AjejejejejeA THX I AM NOT IN UNI ANYMOAR, SRY

  • @brotherannie LOL

  • On your comment about a higher note than 10,000 yen, my mother told me about 20 years ago that she saw such notes in a Japanese businessman's (central bank official?) wallet working in a hotel room, which she returned to security.

Those notes were 100,000 yen (more than US$1,000), and she claimed she saw 4 of those.

I think they were traveler's checks, but she claims those were banknotes and she saw the number of zeroes clearly. I think they were primarily for interbank use.

  • True, there is no orthography for ye but when en follows a consonant, including the word-final n, something similar to the English ye is produced.

  • What is the song in the video you played during the brief intermission? The piano tune?

  • maybe. also as some1 said it is a remnant of old time japanese coins which had holes so it was easy to gather or carry by using strings. for japanese, old coins are associated with holes. also there is a dirty joke about the hole.

  • the college Curse

    Bad Food

    Lack of Sleep

    and NO MONEY

  • anybody knows who are the people's pictures on the Japanese bills?

  • @rotmmimoo 1000 yen: 野口英世(Hideyo Noguchi), who is famous for his study about yellow fever.

5000 yen: 樋口一葉(Ichiyoh Higuchi) who wrote 大つごもり(Oh-tsugomori, The New Year's Eve).

10000 yen: 福沢諭吉(Yukichi Fukuzawa) who is an author, educator, translator and others in Meiji era.

  • What are you studying and how'd you get in a Japanese university?

  • did u know these r the only coins in the world that have holes? and do u know why they have holes in there?

  • @fedokuwokkam My guess is that they're to hold money on a string? Finally "Shoestring Budget" makes sense to me yay!!

  • OWWWIIEEEE. I know how mosquito's can be annoying as hell. I got bit up about 30 times this year.

  • The ichien is made of aluminum :)

  • Cool vid!

Where's the 2000Y bill? Isn't it used too much?

  • @daimebaru I heard the 2000 yen note isn't used all that much because apparently people think it is "rare," like the $2 note in the USA.

  • @goldeneye0 Ah, I have tons of those $2 bills. There's an old man and a banker guy that comes to my job and I trade my regular bills for their $2 bills and 50 cent pieces just so I can look badass when paying for stuff. XD

  • is there no 500 yen bill

  • @rike1175 no there isn't because there is a 500 yen coin.

  • @drumsweet And the last time the 500 yen note was used was back in the early 1980s, the 500 yen coin first came out in 1982.

  • I have a question??? Can you exchange your American money to yen?

I do that when I'm gonna go to mexico but is it the same in Japan??

  • @DaisyFknMadeline Absolutely, just go to a bank.

  • I'm trying to go to Temple University - Japan Campus. This is very helpful. Thankyou. How do you get a host family?

  • Do the vending machines take the 1 yen coin?

  • no, usually the smallest coin vending machines take are 10 yen coins. bleh

  • what about the 2000 yen? u missed it

  • I love Japanese emoji v(^_^)v

And as a college student I too don't get enough (-.-)zzZ

  • I was so happy when I learned the word for "lack of sleep" in my Japanese class (睡眠不足:suiminbusoku). Finally a practical word!
