Actually fuel is alcohol (as it is written on bottle 97% ethanol). Ones when I didn't have alcohol by hand I tried to use toilet water or cologne. Alcohol burned out and what have left from cologne now has mixed with new portion of alcohol. It is only my guess, maybe this alcohol it selves contains some additions which gives color.
Simply wondrous flame formation with the stove and holder ports aligning. Five stars, wish youtube would allow more.

That could be it or maybe because of the size of the jets the flame isn't getting the right oxygen mix.

Use automotive water remover aka "HEAT". Thats all I use in mine and it works great, cheap too.
