  • Why is this video unlisted?

  • For reasons I can't explain, this Evanescence song goes most excellent with this Kai Tak B747-400 cockpit video - very well done and one of my most favorites!!! Many thanks for all your work Airboyd.tv.

  • I LOVE HONGKONG

  • thank you so much. brings back many memories of flying into Kai Tak (as a passenger).

  • I love this song who sings this

  • @TheBigbossman1987 Amy Lee from Evanescence. (look up Evanescence to find the song. Its under the name "My Last Breath")

  • Allow me to identify the marvelous landscape of HK that the flight fly through above, as well introduce to non-HK viewers: 0:21 Victoria Harbour 0:34 Central Plaza 0:50 The new HK International (Chek Lap Kok) Airport 1:11 Tsing Ma Bridge 1:39 Ngong Shuen Chau (Stonecutters Island) 2:06 Lai Chi Kok Road 2:19 Nathan Road (top right-hand side) 2:27 Fa Hui Park 2:35 Waterloo Road 2:52 Argyle Street Playground 3:01 The Terminal of Kai Tak Airport 3:27 Runway of Kai Tak Airport
  • @MultiMasterGee Yeah it is, so? You're confused about something?

  • Such great photos. Such :LAME MUSIC.

  • @skaterkiviman You are absolutely right. Kai Tak, due to its heavy traffic and close proximity of buildings and high density areas right near the airport (and approach pattern), it was closed down.

I just wish I had been born a decade earlier so I could have become a pilot much earlier and gotten a chance to land at Kai Tak! But alas, it'll be the routine international airports for me and the 747...

  • stupid nerds .this music rocks the whole video .

  • why would you ruin this with music???

  • @trinocular Why can you not read?

  • @Mooboog because i have asperger's. also i am blind : /

  • @trinocular Not gonna work buddy.

  • @Mooboog man i can't work. i lost my legs and left arm plus three digits on my right hand in a bizarre snowshoeing accident. i watch these plane landings to travel the world vicariously through the intertronz and youtube. gosh get off my case.

  • @trinocular lol

  • A disastrous video but thanks all the same.

  • This was the best pilot ever. I couldn't tell when the plane made contact with the runway.

  • i thought when you played the video with "Kiss Him Goodbye" was appropriate given the last night of ops at the old Kai Tak airport. I miss that landing.

  • why did this airport close

  • @pricelessppp

    - overcrowding (terminal was designed to handle 24 million pessangers a year but had to handle 29.5 in 1996)

    - night curfew from midnight to 6:30

    - limitation of height of buildings that could be built in Kowloon (only 6th floors)

  • when i was younger i always wanted to fly a 747 and land there

well dreams are to go over='(

  • geiles video!

  • This was taken on the last night that Kai Tak was open. The flashes are from the thousands of people who turned out to watch the last few planes come in and take photos. There is a link in the description to the non-music version. Thanks for watching.

  • @airboyd Why Is Kai Tak Not Open Anymore? please reply

  • @drapperneverstops3 Kai Tak was deemed too dangerous and it wasn't big enough for the expanding list of commercial flights arriving and departing.. They built a new airport only a few miles away on a man-made island. If you look around Kai Tak there isn't really much room to expand on. One of the main reasons they moved was because of the approach was too dangerous and had many crashes during operation, and wasn't suitable for the newer larger aircraft.

  • @AndyJay15 Thanks for your repky, Helped me much but I have flowen in to this airport and it was just so fun. They sould have kept it for a private airport like for small plane. Its Sad Really :(

  • @AndyJay15 I also know this is dangerous my father was extremly hurt in a landing here but still people take a risk flying into Kai Tak im aware of that but it should be an option to fly into Kai Tak.

  • @drapperneverstops3 As far as I know the airport is closed. But I'm not sure whether it's still open for small prop aircraft like you said.

  • @AndyJay15 In my opinion it should be but then again it mighten be safe.

  • @drapperneverstops3 Just read about it on Wikipedia, looks like they're building or have built a ferry terminal on the airport's land.

  • @AndyJay15 look on google earth. All that's left is a pile of rubble :(

  • @FF35Pilot Ah that's a shame.. Still some pictures remain to remind people of this fabulous piece of aviation history.

"Good bye Kai Tak and thank you".

    watch?v=1QHAvsWzq3w

  • @FF35Pilot Kai Tak is now being rebuilt as a cruise terminal.

  • The flashes are street lights reflection of cars

  • @DeanoD1989 nope

  • what the hell was that flash @ 2:37 and than a few more right before landing

  • @fishnmaster420 Camera's ;)

Kai Tak was amazing at night, seeing a plane that low overhead

  • nice

  • never liked Evanescence..But the Vid (silenced) is awesome.

    Damn shame VHHX is gone..

    greets, dom

  • no it's real nice music video . kind of change

  • stupid music!

  • which is the icao code of the kai tak airport...????

    can't find it on fsx

  • @TheDreamlinera320 just do this: when you r selecting the country, go to Hong Kong. Then select Hong Kong (old)

  • @spruill7716 tnx man!!!!

  • Those of us that have spent years on a flight deck like the music.

  • flying into Kai Tak should make u feel like a celeb... u see all them flashes on the approach.. haha...

  • YES! cut the music give us the sounds of the aircraft and crew ONLY whats the music for?????????

  • @tim60s321 read the discription lol

  • the ZOOM GUY is back!!!

  • damn, are all those flashing things camers!!!! if so, then if i'm a pilot i feel awesome if people are taking pictures of my plane

  • nice video! unbelievable the negative comments; instead be grateful and put your sound down then.

  • Sigh i miss Kai Tak airport, having been born in Hong Kong, seeing planes flying by landing in Kai Tak airport shows the progression of Hong Kong, as more and more foreignt people arrive here... sigh... what a legacy it was...

  • who films all these cool super awesome videos?

  • whats with the music man you spoill it! yes i know i can click the link and see it with out music BUT can't be F*****ED

  • whats with the music man you spoill it!

  • fuck evanescence

  • Very nice city but i have a question. Do hong kong people hate to have more big cities in this globe?

  • Awesome video!!!

  • erm.... i thought we had to turn off all electronic devices for fear of interfering with the plane and there's someone running a videocamera in the cockpit? what a joke....

  • At 0:47, ok, our plane had arrived at Chap Lap Kok Airport, but we are not going to land it bocs it is closed today for holiday.

  • which is the name of the song?

  • who ever filmed this is a bad ass!!!

  • OH WOW. I'm not even on the freaking plane and my pucker factor went up like 12 points there....That was intense to watch. My mother took a flight out of Hong Kong a few years ago and said that from what she talked with a deplaning passenger said her pucker factor was up like 50 pts knowing that if there was a mistake they were taking a swim in a hurry. She told me she kept here eyes closed from the time they pulled away until they were wheels in the well and climbing.. I dont blame her

  • agreed. dont put evanescence on anything. they suck.

  • 東方珍珠香港,家下都好靓喔!

  • is there really such a thing called "autoland"? i know this feature exists in simulators(fsx/fs9). if it really exists, why dont all the pilots use this feature when landing? isnt it much easier and safer?

  • I liked it. You had the choice to choose no music. Loved the flash bulbs on approach. Also the ALS curved to the right i assume at the checkerboard. Totally cool.

  • wats an IGS approach?

  • @madzane94 its an instrument guidance system (IGS), a modified of instrument landing system (ILS)

  • luv the camera flashes very nice

  • @airboyd if he were to pay attention he would have known that, that is. :) . But it's also "much more cooler", which is grammatically incorrect english, so you know he's only 12. :)

  • were those cameras flashing around three minutes? btw very nice vid, try diff music

brightest hour by The Submarine just a suggestion, 5*

  • nice Video!!!

  • 2:12 someone took a picture of the plane lol.

  • If i was the pilot i prop end up landin on a high way

  • nice video ruined with shitty evanesence

  • nice musics and flying are perfect for each other mate

  • I love when they land these small "prop" planes! But they are a dying breed. Turbofans are more economical than props. But good vid anyway.

  • Please tell me what's the name of this music! Please!:)

  • @airboyd lol...some people need to read.

  • no good!

  • feels this mucic will kill me

  • who flimed this ? your camara man or yourself?? were you flying the plane?

  • awsome movie, i like the sound make's it more entertaining to look at (y) thanks for sharing with youtube =D

  • Hong Kong night scenery is indeed beautiful (:

  • wat airline and wat plane

  • It is better to see a video like this without music; cause cooler with the sound of the engines.

  • why do people always put this EUROtrash music on the videos? trust me it doesn't make it any better!!

  • Bad video....Next time dont put music on fight videos.. Its much more cooler to hear the cool sound of the aircraft while it is landing with the nice flap sounds and landing gear.... We are not here for the music but for the video.

  • @anudeep1985 i love love love love the flap sound of the a380...

  • @anudeep1985 Agreed! 911Truth.org

  • @anudeep1985 -- airboyd clearly stated on remarks/info: By request, for those that don't like the cockpit sounds... You are entitled to your opinion, nudee something something, no doubt about it. • @anudeep1985

    speak for yourself ...

    cool video

  • @anudeep1985 Fight video? I missed the fighting!

  • @anudeep1985 Brawo!!!

  • @anudeep1985 Really bad video non musis please -5

  • @anudeep1985 look description=]

  • @anudeep1985 dome times the music is cool

  • @anudeep1985 some times the music is cool

  • @anudeep1985 amen

  • hong kong looks like midgar in ffVII.

  • @mwells219 I was just thinking that too.

  • great music

  • But what do you want to see in pilot actions? Short moves of stick ? :)

  • they missed the point...

  • I know you skypilots practice night landings on simulators but I can only imagine what it must have felt like landing a 747 or 777 at night at Kai Tak for the first time!!!

  • @sphmusak - get X-Plane, the flight simulator for all major computer systems, and try it. Set it for night time approach and see how well you do.

Yes, it may not be quite the same thing as reality, however, given the aerodynamics it uses (unlike MS Flight Sim - sorry if I insult anyone), you get a fairly good comparison - You thank Boeing for using good ILS as well as the ATC and good approach plates.

  • what song was that?

  • i thought this was a great video.i hate the shots of the pilots.very well done 5 stars airboyd

  • What a CRAP movie - people want to see cockpit actions, not light. How on earth did this get 4.5 stars??

  • nice video and its also nice to hear evanescence..

  • crap music

  • Loving how all the cameras are going off at 2:50

  • @Mooboog

wassup with those camera flashes going off in the city?

  • @Mooboog there not cameras... strobe lights indicating the lineup into the runway

  • @shiredhr They aren't the IGS approach strobes... They are camera flashes. He said at 2:37, there is a flash. It is a single flash, an approach strobe would be repeated, and the aircraft is overflying the approach strobes, so a passenger wouldn't be able to see them. Read airboyd's comment on this too, it was the last Kai tak evening

  • @shiredhr Plus, yes it is a cockpit video, but it's too the side, not forward.

  • man, it's one of the most challenging approaches ever, 5*

  • When a place reaches "V1" point of no opportunity to abort takeoff, is that a runway limitation or a plane limitation?

  • I have often wondered about that myself.

  • @b1ueocean its both actually. but mostly runway space is priority.. u can stop any size of aircraft if u have enough runway

  • thanks buddy.. appreciate that!

  • both of them! When V1 is reached, we have a limitation due to the lenght of the runway and the plane stall speed.

  • It's a bit of both because V1 is a decision speed. For example, in case of an engine failiure when a plane is going faster than V1, it must takeoff because it will not be able to brake in time before reaching the end of the runway. V1 is usually determined by the weight of the aircraft.

  • the music is the best it fits with the video as well 5 star do more vids like this please

  • amazing!!!

  • @Savennl you #$re%tard#$%@ . this song is badass and matches the video !!

  • @b1ueocean if it were me i`d say fuck em i`ll land where i want

  • Do the Runways have numbers you can see from the sky... if ATC says for example Runway 12 and your in the air basically seeing the whole airport, how do u know where the actual runway your heading for is?

  • Comment removed

  • @b1ueocean It depends on the approach type TRACON gives you. For instance, if approach tells you ILS runway 12 (Instrument Landing Sequence), he/she will vector you to the localizer (the "line up" of the runway). Then the navigation equipment provides the pilot the proper path and slope to fly the plane to the runway. If approach tells you visual runway 12, he/she will vector you to a point where you can see runway 12, and identify it as 12...

  • Appreciate this explanation, very helpful dude :)

  • @b1ueocean Runway numbers are also assigned depending on the heading it's facing (i.e., runway 12 is facing at or near heading 120 degrees). Pilots should also have airport diagrams that depict the airport, so the pilot knows what he/she is looking for.

  • with a compass, for example, runway 12 means that the runway is heading 120 degrees if u take the north as 0 degrees and the soutn as 180 ( so if a runway has the number 18, its heading the south)

  • thank you very much for explanation. quite a clever system.

  • i love how the lyric don't be afraid happens while you're flying right over the buildings....great song...legendary approach...

  • incredible..... notice the flashes of the cameras (minute 2:50)

  • @racsopetrenas Camera flashes? They don't have an emoticon for WTF are you thinking, son.

  • xDDD i think that moment is quite funny, half of the city taking photos xD

  • Wow.

    This is incredible.

  • music KILLS the video. =(

  • The non-music link is on the right in the description...

  • its real nice view, real nice congratulations
