  • Actually most pencils are made with graphite now instead of lead...people are just too lazy to call it for what it really is.

  • @DMoore6977 Actually no pencils ever contained lead. They have always been made with graphite cores. They are referred to as "lead pencils" because when graphite was discovered (in the 16th century) it was thought to be a form of lead, and was named "lead ore". Most people think pencils used to contain lead because they are too lazy to look it up.

  • this is good if you dont have a phone, or a flash light and just happend to fuck your car up in the middle of no were at night time lol

  • OR...or... they these light sticks at stores that heat up metal with small batteries called a flashlight! =O

  • ehh...

  • i tried this like 4 at home and the pencil part exploded seriously

  • how the hell do u split a pencil clean in half?..

  • @mariofreak1975 apparently you never got bored in school. =D

  • Cool, now all I have to do is remember to have a pencil handy instead of a torch!

  • no man! you need to punch a tree to make some planks them make sticks and combine the sticks with coal!

  • thx man this makes my life so much ez

  • hmmm, somehow, i cants see the benifits of holding a flaming peice of lead, next to a combustion engine -.- the key word is combustion, thats what happens when you drop the fucking lead and blow yourself to the nearest town.

  • "extract the lead" Haha. Easier said than done my friend... Easier said than done...

  • what if the battery is the problem?

  • it works but only with mecnical pencil lead

  • it's fake! i tried a lot bt it didn't work....

  • this shit dont work it just blowes up in ur face

  • If it's too dark to see anything then how are you going to make that?

  • ...or carry around a flashlight

  • Or just get a flashlight

  • How Could i crack a pencil open

  • so to fix one problem i have to tear my car apart and then present a new problem brilliant

  • its not lead its a graphite rod they stoped making them out of lead and long time ago

  • how could this possibly work if i need light to make it, and the reason why i making it is because i need light.

  • Could i check gas level in my tank with this? lol 8D

  • how do you connect it to the battery when you cant see?

  • @jjd15 lol ur right

  • @jjd15 lol ur right

  • thanks , your idea creative ....

  • and as you light it.... breathe in the lead smoke very deeply... you will then see a light... now walk to it.... walk to the light.... you are home...

  • @DGDIEZEL Pencil lead is not lead at all; it's a combination of finely ground graphite and clay, mixed with water and pressed together at high temperatures into thin rods. We call it lead is because the Englishmen who first discovered graphite believed they had found lead.

  • @yesac101 ummm... I already knew it this, but the majority of the people don't so.... It was a joke... ya know? not to be taken seriously or literally. or in your case, not to be taken with real thought. PLUS I wrote that a month ago... c'mon. How will you ever get a girl without humor.

  • @yesac101 Where did u get that info? The reason we call it lead is because the used to use lead back in the day and people just got accustomed to calling it pencil lead, even after they switched to graphite. Nice try though Bill Nye...

  • @gregbails4 you are completely wrong lead was never used for pencils. Google it. and you will find every single website states the lead was never used in pencils mainly because lead doesn't mark paper very well why even comment if you have no idea what your talking about.

  • @gregbails4 No, genius. Lead was not used to write with. The reason they call it 'lead' is because of the gray line it makes. Dufuses still beleive it is real lead today and think you will die of lead poisoning if you chew on your pencil.

  • nahhhh to much work, i'll just call triple A...

  • Would this work with any battery?

  • wow.. just set yourself on fire you fuck

  • 1. grab my d***

    2. and hold it a sec, we r still in dark but doesnt mater anymore

  • @darkwader1

    1. your gay

    2. Go die in a hole.

  • this is fucking retarded

  • graphite not lead

  • wonder if he know what happends if he drops the shit lmfao

  • Ya fixes most problems till your battery dies....then you have a whole new problem

  • no no no...

    1. grab a pencil

    2. punch it very HARD in your ass !!

  • this is how you you should do it

    1. grab you flash light, phone or anaything that makes light

    2. find a pencil with your light

3.do what the vid tell's you to do by the light helping you

4.break all the lights that you have in the car and all portable stuff

    5. use your new torch . . .its safe and easy !!!

  • what if the problem is your battery?

  • in the olden days jedis settled ther disputes with two car batteries 4 wires and 2 bars of lead

  • now touch it.

  • If you were really that desperate for light under the hood all you have to do is pull the headlight bulb from the back of the headlight module. Leave it attached to the harness and turn the headlights on.

  • @anickode for looking under the hood your method works, but if you want to see your tires or maybe under your car this could come in handy

  • who uses pencils these days? However, I must admit that it looked pretty cool!

  • Seriously, I'd rather carry a spar flashlight in the glove compartment with spare batteries than risk shorting out the car battery or draining it with a graphite conductor. Need I tell you, the flashlight is also wireless and lasts longer than 20 minuets?

  • @iv81 dont forget you dont have to fk your speakers

  • how r u supposed to split the pencil open first r we supposed to use our teeth or somtin

  • very cool

  • then you drop it in the fuel tank and KABLAMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hmmmm. im gunna call this guy when i run out of tape

  • OHH I GET HOW IT WORKS.instead of passing current through tungsten like in normal lights , your passing it thru lead which has low M.P therfore lastinf only 3-4 mins is that it 0_O

  • @Happylittleboyboy It isnt *lead* it is made of graphite , lead has never been used in a pencil

  • @Puterdad

hahaha get your facts right. pencil leads used to be made out of lead (i suppose thats where it got the name?) but they kinda stopped using it after they found out it was poisonous....

  • @24853765 I think you should look it up because lead was NEVER use in making pencils . the term lead was just a descriptive term used to describe it . Sorry but your wrong and i am right.

  • *drops pencil* oh shit...

  • Lol. But what if you drop it. Lol BOOM!!!

  • I guess im gonna try to find it at night!!

  • if your car broke down you could not use jumper cables idiot

  • Start a fire that will last for hours and make a fricken torch.

  • damn...where is my pencil? i cant see it..no light!!! lol

  • damn...where is my pencil? i cant see it..no light!!! lol

  • @manokorobo There is a light inside the car *dome light* to see to make it.

  • Dare you to touch it...

  • ok .. one question come to me dude if you got no light to work how do you cut open your pencil with out cuting your finger lolll

  • @GHOSTTOYS well im guessing most cars have a light inside when you open a door cause the car just broke down dosnt mean the battery is dead or anything could be a split water pump who knows

  • im assuming its a graphite pencil

  • I think everyone is forgetting that this can drain your battery pretty easily. I wouldn't do this unless its a MAJOR emergency and you need light NOW.

  • most pencils now adays donnt use lead anymore they use graphite...

  • @Iinspirel .. wooden pencils never used lead... it is graphite that he is using. People call it lead but it has no relation to actual lead.

  • this is lame... nobody even uses those pencils anymore....

  • the lead is like the filament of a light bulb.

  • mine didnt work i got a pencil hooked it up to 16v adapter and nothing it just smoked a little bit

  • not enough current...

  • @julko6070 You need the high amperage of a vehicle battery to do this. I wouldn't though. This can drain your battery pretty fast.

  • I don't care if you can actually use it in an emergency or not, it's just cool... Just for kicks, what if it were contained in a glass container filled with an inert gas? Would the lead still burn out? Or does it actually need oxygen to light up?

  • it isnt exactly fire, and if it were deprived of oxygen (like in a vaccum sealed glass) it may even burn brighter

  • can u use a 9v battery?

  • omg work it o0

  • how can so many peaple be so fuckin stupid Oo

your car do have a light INSIDE, not in the engine

this metod is only to be used when you have battery enough to do this pensil light INSIDE you car, to take this torch to your engine (outside your car) and fix it. damm it ¬¬

  • Or use a normal adapter thats around 10/20 volts!

    That works too

  • very cool, i thought this was very neat. just a couple thoughts though, if its dark and you cant see how are you going to get this made? and why not just leave a crank flash light in your car so its alawys there when you need it

  • YES!! got my car fixed but now.... :( my batteries dead lol

  • oh shit I found that gas leak....

  • Dont do this! car batteries emit fumes, that like gasoline, are flammable. you run the risk of lighting your battery fumes on fire and injuring yourself. Just carry a cheap hand crank flashlight.

  • cool but if the lights went out who has time to make tha in the dark????

  • ........or u can just bring a flashlight.......

  • @x1expert1x dont be an idiot. Its just in case you dont have one.

  • Fix the problem on a car and use the enrgy of a car battery.... -.- so u just made another problem plus getting rid of the lead you dispose it in the forest you start a fire -.- thnk before doing this project. Pretty cool though

  • my battery exploded

  • lol

  • me and a buddy of mine tried it, works but the graphite kept snapping in half after a few seconds.

  • how are you gonna put the wires if you dont have lite in the first place

  • i dnt get how it works???

  • hey smart one if u do that and you drop it and it catches some gasoline on the ground or oil ur car is gone.

  • and knowing is half the battle!

  • can u do it with jump cables that plug in the wall? PLZ ANSWER!!

  • its not lead in pencils

  • dude lol what if a guy runs out of gas in the middle of the night . and used that method... HOLY @/&% (BOOM) >XD

  • the stuff in pencil's isn't lead, it's graphite.

  • dude if that meets the petrol youre doomed

  • if you put it in a outlet in shop class it will do the same!!lmao

  • its called an arc light

  • how? there is no excited gas, or arc. Its incandescence

  • Great vid

  • um...in order to attach the think pencil to the battery....wont you need light...and if you have light it kinda defeats the purpose of needing this pencil torch

  • Quick, someone invent a solar powered flashlight!

  • @iv81 lol

  • @BestofGA11 whats a think pencil?

  • @BestofGA11 say you have a little bit of light but not where you need it, for ex, if ou car breaks down you have light in the car but not under the hood or anywhere else if its at night

  • i eat carrot cake in class...... lol

  • used to do this all the time with mechanical pencil lead and a 9v abttery. much more fun that listening in class

  • i sleep in class

  • doesnt it shortcut the battery?

  • Haha why am I the only one that caught this quote? Love Step Brothers.

  • go with that at the gas tank =))))

  • looks really cool but if you can do all of that stuff to make the damn thing i think you can fix the problem.

  • speaker wire? that thin shit? it will melt right thru to your hand at that current, cause i doubt that pencil lead will have that much resistance

  • ummm, the reason the graphite (yes not lead), glows is because the resistance of the graphite causes it's molecules to be excited when exposed to electrical current.

But you knew that, didn't you?

  • Yea, I did know that

  • just learned about that. haha.

  • COOL!!!

  • how the fuck ru going to hook up the pencil led to ur car battery in the pitch black with no light

  • good point....

  • @apothecary1796 Ninja Skills?

  • @apothecary1796 like seriously

  • @apothecary1796 lol, exactly, if you can do all that in pitch black, then you can probably take the entire engine apart and reassemble it down the road before dawn.

  • @apothecary1796 ha ha ha ha.. man if I could Thumbs Up this comment 1,000 times, I would

  • @apothecary1796 u idiot,u just use a flashlight........wait.....

  • WOW!! niceee

  • An easier way to get the pencil lead out is to burn the pencil. The wood will come off, and you'll have the entire lead.

Also, he's not doing this whole thing in the dark. His battery works, so his interior lights work. This is for when you need to work on things outside your car, and the light won't reach it or is too dim or something.

  • thats sexy

  • Comment removed

  • well in the ideo the Graphite is on fire

  • I tried this and it caught on fire then exploded and I got burned real bad

  • Oh yes, grab your pencil in broad daylight when you can see perfectly.

  • lol he said hes shooting in daylight for clarity reasons :S

  • thats why cars are now made with a light built in :p

  • ur like 12? so u probably are stupid because you cant remember your own age

  • i said "

    like 12"

becuz that day was my b day and i wasnt exactly born yet onthat day!

it was around 3 o clock and i hadnt been born until 6 pm!

  • oh ok I understand

  • you're wrong... even if you were born at 11:59 PM that day and it's 12:01 AM, it makes no difference, because it's already your birthday. hence birthDAY. it's a day, doesn't matter what time u were born.

  • so you would rip out your speaker wire for light

  • So what happens if the car problem is coming from a flat battery? LOL

I agree with mykylc and get a wind-up torch!

  • ma comprarsi una torcia no eh? :\

  • all good until you break down because of a flat battrey. lol

  • its always fun when it explodes and sends a flying piece of led in your eye! next time im wearing safety glasses!

  • IT DOESNT DO THAT... CUZ I TRIED IT ..

  • hey RETARD take off your caps and that did happen to me. it heated up too much and exploded and a piece went in my eye. oh and you sound really stupid if you try to make a point by using slang words like "cuz". have a nice day.

  • How about you go to the nearest camping or electronics store and get yourself a crank charged flashlight that takes no batteries and stash it in your glove box.

  • useing this is CHEAPER

  • I would say this is more expensive seeing how much of your time it takes up.

  • cool but if your not in a car it is pretty inconvenient.

  • I once did that but connected to a stereo receiver, the lead just exploded :D

  • Too much power going through the graphite!

  • i call roadservice and my cellphone has light for 12 days :)

either he has too much free time or he is a mc guyver freakbut funny do

  • if you cant see shit in the first place, how are you suppose to find wires and connect to a battery in the dark?

  • You have a battery for power so most likely the lights inside the car still work but he is stating you don't have light outside the car. I guess his theory would work but I think I would just use the speaker wire and connect one of the light bulbs from in the car to it instead so you have a light to use outside the car that will last for hours and not be so dangerous around gas.

  • fuck no one thought of that :/

  • good one.. hope there is no leaking gas line

  • interesting

  • til it melts and fall on a wire and blows up

  • Or you can do the following:

push any button on your cellphone.

    use that light.

  • lol

  • I THINK YOU MEAN INCREMENTS? lol

  • cool

  • Cant it be harmful to breath in graphite or lead fumes? Good to use in a bad emergency though.

  • ya know if ya broke down, and say theres spoke or theres some sort of an oil leak or spillage somewhere. why would you want to put something that is glowing hot right up next to it. (graphite melts at 4000 odd degrees) so i think ill just keep a torch in my car.

but that is still pretty cool ill give ya that.

just maybe in a different application
