I don't necessarily watch Anime in Japanese unless there is no dub available. But if a dub is done right, then there really is no point for me to watch it in Japanese. This one isn't perfect, but it's still watchable.

After all, if many newcomers saw that dub first, then naturally they'd adore it because that's what they heard first. The same is true for people who heard the Japanese version and/or the JAL dub. Personally, I think the Disney dub is fantastic and really adds to the film in many ways, although I did also enjoy the Japanese version. I like both equally.
@bmprelude Do you mean his voice actor? If so, the answer is no, Vic Mignogna didn't voice Pazu. He's voiced by James van der Beek of Dawson's Creek. I'm not surprised you'd assume that it was Ed; vocally, Vic and James' takes don't sound that much different from each other, but what I liked about both was the energy they brought to their characters. Of course they do sound like teens compared to their Japanese counterparts, but that doesn't mean they're worse.

Even with its minor faults, it's still miles better than 99.9% of many other dubs. If there is such a thing as a "lesser" Disney Ghibli dub, it's hard to notice, because frankly, I can't say anything bad about them. This one included.
I do wonder how they got away with doing a Spanish dub for this movie.

love the movie, trailer, and the songs i've seen Castle In the Sky over a milion times. have you seen Howl's moving castle not quite the same but it's really good. Don't worry it's also by Hayao Miyazaki!
@platepluscup123 It's a great film, arguably one of Hayao Miyazaki's best. It's a straightforward action-adventure tale, but it's told well, with great characters, beautiful animation and music, and an excellent cast of voice actors who give their characters zest and enthusiasm (in both language tracks). This is a good starting point for anyone interested in anime; seriously, one look at this film, or any of the director's, and you'll definitely become a fan of his. I highly recommended it.
@BurnttheWing The Disney trailer wasn't BAD per say, but I feel that it didn't really show enough of the movie to really give viewers an idea of what to expect. I do like that this trailer uses the voices from the dub (which, by the way, I quite enjoyed even with its minor faults) but also presents the film like a genuine movie trailer as opposed to a quick teaser.

I almost didn't watch this because it wasn't a real trailer, however I must say it was done very well! I was trying to find a trailer to show my brother what this movie is about, now he knows why I think its so great.
@RatingsMan I think this would have been an even better trailer for Disney to show in its promoting of the film, because at least it shows more of the film. Not that I mind the current one, but this is much more poetic and exciting.
