  • Didn't Mark play a short lived Fender Starocaster at one point? It was not a successful model for Fender. As I recall a hollow body thin line guitar with humbuckers.

  • Mark you should put on a size 13 cowboy boot and stick it side ways up Brewers ass. GFR could have used any drummer or bassist, but you were Funk. Take care and hope u get something going in the music industry. You're an icon.

  • I can't believe Brewer was really such an ass..To me if there's no Mark Farner, there's no GFR...Mark is a real man. As for Mel I hope he watch his back....Mel should team up with Mark and start a new GRF...the hell with Brewer...

  • Mark was my hero. In '87 the wife and I saw him in concert, where I got some real close-up pictures. After the concert we hung around his bus and a guy sticks his head out and says, "you guys want to talk to Mark?'' Uh...sure! We spent 20 minutes on the bus, just the 3 of us, talking about music and family. I had one picture left on the film camera, and did I think to have the wife take a photo of me and Mark? STUPID!!!! O well, I will never forget it.

  • This guy was great and he was the reason "GFR" was so great. GOOD classic songs I can still rock to. Thanks Mark I hope you have a great life.

  • I like Don Brewer. Cut my teeth on his playing in the early 70's. BUT. Unlike Brewer, I've realized that drummers and bass players are a dime a dozen, even great ones like him and bass players like Mel. Farner IS the genius behind GFR. They deserve to be in the R&R Hall of Fame. Period. I've played with Chris Cross and Brian Wooten of Trace Adkins in band called Rattlesnake from south Texas. Brewer needs to know his place. I do.

  • Mark Farner was, is and always will be the true soul of Grand Funk Railroad.

  • Hey Brewer, maby you should change your last name to "sewer", here are two reasons why; One, your new fake GF band "stinks" without the true genius, Mr. Mark Farner. Two, since you called the Messenger a "piece of shit" but you tried to steal it, which makes you a "piece of shit", and since shit is associated with a "SEWER" well the choice is clear, so call that crooked attorney of yours and for a nominal fee, he'll fix that name change for you.

  • I find it amusing that Don Brewer stated the Messenger was "a piece of shit" but yet he swiped it from the R&R HOF. Well, "donnie boy", I guess you decided since the real brains of GFR had an axe worth several thousands of dollars in collector value that you'd capitalize on it, thinkin you could slide it back in without notice ? Who's the piece of shit now?

  • A real Rock God.

  • How could don be such an ass to him....

  • Closer to Home....one of the top 5 lps of ALL TIME, next to LZ 4, White Lp, UH demons, Captain Beyond, Sabbath Paranoid. And guess who wrote every freekin song - Farner. Grand Funk Railroad is MArk Farner, without Farner there would be no GFR - period !

  • Didn't realize Brewer was such a jackass.

  • LivingLegendsMuisc + great interview ♪♪♪

  • Anyone who hasnt seen this guy with his band N'R G doesnt know what they are missing! Saw him in Vegas this past weekend, these guys are AWESOME!! Mark sounds as good as he did 40 years ago. Got his autograph after the show too.

    Don and Mel who???????????

  • Shocking to hear about Don Brewers behavior.... Bastid.

  • @youtellmegod Fuck Brewer....cocksucker.

  • I started playing lead guitar after I bought their first album 40+ years ago. Just finished listening to the Red Album. Fantastic even now. So sad about the band but Mark is still top notch!

  • Thank's!!!!!! My Guitar Hero!!

  • Great interview, Mark! YOU are a great guy and performer!!

  • It truly sickens me to think that Don Brewer could do something that underhanded, to Mark... I guess the only thing we can do as fans... is never support GFR without Mark in the lineup...lets face it without Mark there is no GFR ....awesome interview series ...thank you.

  • @1hottstixx really don brewer is very jealous...he wanted to be the leader but he got no artistic balls to fill Farner's shoes...Farner got brain, hands & hearts...Brewer had to do his drummer's job, leaving all in charge to Mark...and so he destroyed everything

  • great series. shame don and mel are such tools.

  • I still wonder if he taped up the "f-holes" AFTER the "On Time" album, since that's the only album with the Messenger that had feedback and squeal all through it? And what happened to the Gibson SG he played on "E Pluribus Funk"? There was a guitar he should have kept--that had a sweet sound and fit his style to a tee!

  • What a great series. Just one question, what the hell happened to Don Brewer? Needs Mark to pay more attention to him?

  • The adjustable nut thing sounds similar to the Buzz Feiten System.

  • One of the most unique things about GFR's sound in the early days was the rhythm tone Mark got from that guitar. Now he plays a Parker FLY. Having had two of them myself, they play incredibly easy and fast, but man, the tone just isn't there. Saw them in 98 or 99 on the reunion tour, and the sound of the guitar was just so thin and weak, it was very disappointing. I get from his comments in these interviews he thinks it sounds great.... gotta disagree on that one!

  • Thank you for posting. Sorry I don't comment on the other clips, but I had to watch the whole interview non-stop. I love your interview series. Thank you again

  • Neat interview. Mark seems like a regular Midwest guy. I know many like him. But they don't play guitar!

  • Cool Interview. I'm just surprised that he is confused about when he used the L5-S. That didn't appear until 1974. He used the Microfrets Signature for We're an American Band.

  • @Jimmers131005 Yeah, I really liked Caught In The Act with that great Gibson Mark is shown with. I don't know what other LPs he used the guitar on (perhaps All The Girls & Born To Die?), but that is the guitar he's used that I like the most. I don't play, but I really like the look and sound of the L5-S.

  • @badcomicbook Me too. I have one. The exact same model as Farner. 1974, Cherry Sunburst. They go for crazy amounts of money now.

  • thanks for posting ! great interview !

  • fantastic interview,thanks for posting!
