Too many covers of this song sound just like the original. I'm glad that this one doesn't! I also really like the upward inflection at the end of some of the phrases; it would have even more impact if you threw that in part-way through. Refreshing re-interpretation!

You did NOT need to change the melody so much. It's a excellent melody. There are other ways of making a song your own that don't involve straying so far from the original song. Just singing the notes in your voice with your unique tone would have been adequate. I also think your voice is lovely and would have been better complimented by the acoustic guitar alone.
