Great Weapons, shoot them at the Range, take them home, put them in the closet, turn them in when you retire! Great Weapons, Switzerland will not sale weapons to other countries except in indirect ways it seems so that they wont be used by other miliitary I guess that is why we have a contracted (Authorized Factory) in the US., I love Swiss Weapons but dont understand the mentality/neutraliity. Switzerland does three things right: Guns, Chocolate & Banks! Their Military is Unproven, sorry FACT!
@FormerMPSGT you forgot 3 weeks a year of army and that we can keep the rifles after military service (with a small change made to the firing mechanism, no 3round and full auto). we export to official law enforcement agencies but not to armies. Our military/Militia is unproven but if the SHTF we'll then see how we fare in a battle situation.
@badInvention There is not always a change in the fire mechanism, I have my Sig 550 at home, but I can still shoot in 3 round or full auto. The white dot plate is not sealed to the rifle. I finished my military this year as Grenadier in Isone, so maybe it's different, but my rifle is still in full auto mode.

but we have a great army (the army is bigger that the french army btw) and every soldier can take his weapon at home after he was in the military. and if switzerland has to fight, every swiss man would take his gun and help to save his country. the patriotism of every Swiss soldier replaces the lack of experience, i think.
@McTheSoul Well trained and experienced soldiers are worth a lot more than simply patriotic soldiers/citizens. However it depends on the objective and scenario. If someone's going to steal your country away from you it helps being patriotic but it doesn't stop bullets.
@olden89c yeah thats right, but the swiss infantry and grenadiers are well trained (climb walls to get into windows etc.). the only thing swiss soldiers dont have is the experience.
the swiss army does only exist to save our country and if u fight against switzerland u fight against a nation, because every male guy in switzerland was in military and has a weapon at home. in a conflict switzerland is able to mobilize more than 2 milions (!) well trained soldiers! the polulation is 8 million

@Nered88 Did you know that all members of the Swiss armed forces are required to keep their duty weapons at home? I'm not saying that that is a potent reason not to provoke the Swiss into using those fabulous special forces, but I can't imagine any one country or whatever even contemplating attacking another country which has such policies in force. That we in America privately own so many firearms is a sobering thought to anyone who has ever had such a thought cross their mind, however briefly.
