I tend to try and keep a sort of theme to my references and it was just a toss up between klingons and phantom which, well, phantom won hands down. Plus, then people wouldn't be able to make comments like "Wow, how did you not make a klingon reference there?!"

I watched the better part of GFA today and despite never having heard of that series i really enjoyed it.

It shows a vast improvement over LEA, which was a tough sit from time to time, and I hope ypu do more, even though the views inexplicably get fewer.

A The Good Son reference would have fit perfectly with your record of outdated movie references, just sayin' ;)

Thus far in my personal experience, musicals have been a fun little highlight in most abridged series. What immediately comes to mind in terms of abridged shows with great musicals are Yugioh, Princess Tutu, TFS DBZA, and of course Glass Fleet. I love it when iconic songs are exploited for comedic purposes.

I have to agree with Sketch, I figured I'd go through it all, and man. From what I've seen of Last Exile, I certainly enjoy this much more. Maybe it's because I came into Last Exile late and have trouble following it, but Glass Fleet with its phallic imagery and your spin on it is fantastic. The singing in this episode was top notch, too. I much enjoyed the Unwardilian choir.

Well, glad you're liking this but, you are allowed to start at the begining of last Exile and watch the episodes in sequence. I mean, it's allowed.

It actually won't help your understanding any though. Watch from 9 to the end first, then start at the begining and watch the whole thing.

That's actually the best way to watch the real series too for what it's worth.

Ha, I suppose I should've clarified. I tend to start in the middle of a show to get a better indication of the creator's take on it, rather than the first. I was puzzled by what I saw (episode 7 or so, maybe?) so I backtracked and still had no clue what was going on. I'll probably watch it again and pay more attention to it; since the average abridged series requires the attention span of a 12-year-old, perhaps I wasn't in the right mindset.

That said, I'll give your advice a shot.

I finally caught up to where the abridger left off. I don't like the anime, but i enjoyed this. I am familiar with the long-winded approach to humor from another abridger. I am not going to say I understand all of it though. i am impressed with the impersonation of sound effects. Good job!

The original opening was from Rose of Versaile which is, well, just watch Cassius614's abridged version for more on that.

The one in this episode was there only because of the Escaflowne refrence.

Well, see, a Halberd is only a very specific design of poleaxe with a spear point, an axe blade and an armor piercing spike on the reverse side. This weapon has no reverse spike so it's much more comprable to a voulge or even a viking waraxe. Also, Halberd doesn't rhyme with Relax.
