person for person, i think this is a more exciting orchestra that the simon bolivar. just because these young people have to try so hard to make performances like this happen.

I used to be a university orchestra conductor and if I had it to do again, i would offer 8-12 scholarships a year..full ride - to these kids...

Cerrando los ojos parecemos estar ante una de las mejores orquestas sinfónicas del mundo. Abriendolos no sólo nos damos cuenta que si lo es, sino que tambíen es una de las más jovenes y bellas orquestas, que nos transportan con su buen hacer y con su técnica a un mundo de maravilla. I keep this on my "favorites" because it is so good. What a thrill it must be to say to your friends (at that age) "well i've got a concert tonight in the big hall with Dudemel conducting and we are playing this incredible piece of music...."

The parents must be so fantastically proud of these young people. This entire "systeme" is a wonderment and a tribute to all that is good. I dont agree with the politics of the country and there is a lot of room for a lot of things...but you HAVE TO give credit beyond measure to this. It is a miracle of caring and talent.

@DrHdhouse The parents are also grateful to the Venezuelan govenment who pays for their music lessons for free. Just do the math, in the US, I pay $50/hr/per week. Multiply that by ten years, and it comes out to a lot of money. These kids get 15hours of music/week free, and 80% come from poor working class families form all parts of Venezuela.

@padredemishijos12 i start playing in the "sistema" of jose antonio abreu when i was a kid, and thats right, is true, when you are a kid they pay for every thing, but when you grow, and dont "look" like a kid they dump you and when you wanna continue playing in a orchestra as a grow man, you realice that the professional orchestras the state orchestra have no resourse, at all, only a private sector of enterprices that pay to the orchestra for sigles concerts, and the salaires are a joke

@NoX29 Yo tengo dos hijos. Yo vivo en el pais mas rico del mundo. Por su hambre al petrolio, gasta $3,000,000,000,000 para las guerras. Yo tengo que pagar de mi bolsillo $600 al mes para las clases de musica para mis hijos. Tuve que renunciar la musica porque estoy sin trabajo. Tu queja, lo siento, suenas como un mal agradecido. Ya eres una persona culta, y costo poco a tus padres.

En EEUU, cuesta $150/mes para estar en orquesta. Se ensaya un dia por semana por 2 horas. sin instrmtos.

@padredemishijos12 in compare of what the kids recive, so, the feed the dream of study music, and they give you everithing, but when you loose the image of juvenil you have to play in a almoust dead orchestra winning a pitty salarie, and bad instruments, and bad rehearsal halls :(
