I'm in my early 20s so pretty new to james taylor but this is honestly one of the best songs I've ever heard. What a songwriter/performer! Watched this coverage live on bbc 1. This performance pretty much summed up the mood of the whole day. Brilliant song
Yes, I like James Taylor. I remember as a teenager playing his songs. Now not to sound to mean, but he not only looks like a senior citizen, his voice also sounds like one. Some singer/song writers don't know when to stop performing. Someone needs to tell them to stop, just like a boxer beyond his time. Leave performing for the young blood.

As soon as there is some young blood that can come close to him in style, ability, and heart then I might agree with you. His voice is just fine thank you!
Here in Brazil we were all touched at the ceremony. We are close to you in the heart and soul. Our prayers for comfort for the families. James is full of love, God bless you all.
i looked for this video immediately after hearing JT perform it during todays 9/11 memorial service, but it hadn't been uploaded yet by anyone--including the news stations...a bit later i checked back on youtube, and you had posted this...thank you for this beautiful tribute to all the victims of this tragedy...JT looked like his heart was about to break...as are many today ...I am happy to say I was the 1st like & view for your post... :) ...thanks again
Sweet James could barely sing, as his and all of our hearts bled tears for the departed and their loved ones. God bless our country. We shall never forget!
Abraham Lincoln said "that no outside entity will ever bring down this republic, that can only happen from within." He knew how strong we would be 150 years ago. Pay attention kids!!! It will be yours to lose.
Watched this live in the UK too... It was personally, one of the most moving parts of the day. This song is close to my heart, so it was especially moving to hear it live. What a fitting tribute to the fallen heroes of 9/11.

I saw him sing this on Sunday and wondered how he could sing this without tears running down his cheeks. I know he had me crying....

James truly has a gift from God, because it does not diminish as he grows older. He is such a humble musician...God Bless U , JT.

@3737471 Have you seen him in concert lately? I saw him 6 months ago - the voice is fine, don't worry.

@3737471 this was not meant to be a high-performance concert. It was for the people who had different things in mind than listening to great music
