BUILD TIP: I use 30 minute epoxy chilled in the refrigerator. The cold epoxy slows cure time to 45 to 60 minutes allowing you to mix larger quantities for covering large areas. I use a glue brush & spread the cold mixed epoxy all over the joint. I even use it to reinforce motor mount areas & servo horn mounting locations. I also brushed it on the bottom of my 57inch P-51 Mustang. Makes it look like its coated in glass but super strong for when I have to do gear up belly landings on rough ground.
Looking forward to the mosquito, I have the honour of living like 10 miles from the dehavilland museum, you can see the balsa and plywood construction, pretty awesome!
One good piece of advice thou. When reparing with a lot of glue don´t forget to recheck the CG as it can change if you add a lot of glue in the back or in the nose :)
Not sure who does the music, but I enjoy it very much. Many cudos to Michael Cameneti or Joab Roseberry. One is listed as Audio and the other as composer. Thanks guys for another great show.
White Gorilla Glue is a LOT stronger than hot glue, much lighter too, and fills out the cracks/ small missing foam bits. However, it takes some time to cure. I would only use hot glue in emergency-instant-fix situations where the added weight doesn't play a role.
This a great episode for noob foam smashers like myself. I have absolutely destroyed the front end of my kinetic 800 and rebuilt it several times. Still flying
love to see a smashed foamie reborn, I have managed this on a few, hott glue alone (st mx2), epoxy and uhu por, thin or thick ca (with activator) at times Ive used all of em. When you fly it again & it works the joy helps you over the pain & gloom of the crash! Its amazing what u can repair on a foamy with time & glues. Boiling water and force can help straighten some seriously bent & compacted foam (like what happens to a jetiger nosing in @about 70 mph)!
I'm glad you guys show people that you can repair crashed planes. The new arf rc pilots have a crash and thats it the garbage can and off to the hobby store for a new arf. I started this hobby before arfs and it drives me nuts to see planes with minor damage trashed. So good work and more repair videos.
I have a 25C 1300mAh lipo and a 1100 kv 12amp brushless motor and i would be very grateful if you could enform me of what amp esc i would require please reply.Thank you.

I was hoping for an autopsy, what was the likely cause of the crash? The crash didn't seem to be Josh's fault. Valuable lessons can be learnt for the next build.
Any idea on what failed last flight to make this bird crash?? Brounout. reciver failure?? or just a bumped switch. Almost looks as though a loss of conection. Thanks for your vids. Much appreciated.
Great video....and I would think some foam would melt on some planes before the glue. Seems like after the hot glue has been used once, it's harder to melt.
Great video guys. Good job on the repair. I'll be happy to give the mossie a good home once you have finished testing it. Hate to see it collect dust like the other planes hanging in your set. :)
Aw man, I remember when I crashed my Cessna the first time. I felt like screaming when I saw it crash and I was 100% sure it was done for. Luckily my friend took a look at it and brushed it off by saying "nothing a little epoxy can't fix." 30 minutes later that sucker was one propeller away from flying again. This is a really helpful episode, it's always great to see a wrecked airplane get fixed and see it fly once again.
There are two kinds of planes. Those that have crashed and those that will.

@1234adamdoyle if the motor max is 12 amp, an 18 amp esc should suffice, but I personally would use a 25 or 30 amp esc.

Don't forget about foaming urethane glues like Gorilla Glue. Works great on all foams, it expands to fill crevices and gaps, and remains very light.
shuttj 9 months ago
Guys, welders glue, (Lowes) or UHU glue is best for EPP. Light and does not make the EPP brittle.

Can you tell me if he used high temp hot glue or low temp? Is there any risk of melting the foam with high temp?
canontaters 9 months ago
@canontaters Not too much, unless you put a lot, or the "barrel" of the glue gun touches the foam for more than about 1 or 1/2 sec.
