I think for them it was bad timing or just destiny saying "fame isn't for you girls". They came out in the late 90's which accepted music like that. But once the 2000's hit, everyone was into more adult content music and not so much inspirational music, which caused groups like TLC who brought a positive message in music to fade out. It slowly became more and more about sex and money.
