Ben Stein has already admitted that he knew about the exact topic of the movie over 2 years ago. I don't remember which interview it was though.
Yeah, these Expelled people just lie and lie and lie without any apparent concern about it. Perhaps they think that they do to support their religious beliefs is justified.
The proponents of ID/Creationism have only one goal in mind: the complete destruction of any kind of science that goes against their theistic worldview. They don't care about intellectual honesty because their main objective is to annihilate all viewpoints that contradict their own.
Ben Stein's thesis is completely wrong because IDers/Creationists don't want "equal time," like he mentions in his deplorable movie, but they want to completely do away with all "materialistic" worldviews. The famous "Wedge document" states it better than I can:
1)To see intelligent design theory as an accepted alternative in the sciences and scientific research being done from the perspective of design theory.
2)To see the beginning of the influence of design theory in spheres other than natural science.
3)To see major new debates in education, life issues, legal and personal responsibility pushed to the front of the national agenda.

It takes little inquiry to see that ID is nothing more than a religious ploy to destroy science as we know it, and that is why they keep loosing their battles in court because it is an issue involving State and Church separation.
Therefore, honesty plays no role in their "search for knowledge," and I use that phrase loosely, because they come into the academic world with a preconceived notion and try to manipulate their findings to suit their views.
