Sleater-Kinney should be taken seriously as a band, but not "seriously" like they were prophets with an agenda.

If you want goddess, well there are no female guitar players that rise to that level. All the greatest guitar players have been and always will be men. I think Veruca Salt probably was more corporate whereas Sleater Kinney is sort of a mainstay of the whole indie (real independent bands, not these lame new bands that have and "indie" sound, what the crap is that, if you are on a major label, you arn't independent. The majors even have fake "independent" labels now....anyways ) scene. Not that a band can't be good and be on a major, but I think the ethics of the bands are probably pretty different.
