& i could never get the realistic satin or silk like cloth simulation using it..therefore I try simcloth & it's work like a charm with less hassle on all the settings..
BTW the best thing to simulated cloth are Ncloth in Maya..it's very amazing how it could even get the great result even in the interacting mode.i've seen the demo on the official website but never had the chance to use it..will try to get my hand on it sooner or later: )
yes i agreed with you on the character & animation part.,anyway this simulation are created using the chaosgroup beta plug in SimCloth, that is by far the best cloth simulator I've use..but it's kinda pity they had stop developing on that.. the one that comes with max are not very good to use, often i get error when comes to more complicated simulation which involve more then 2-3 collision....
there is no way xsi cloth or syflex can do this sort of stuff so easy(though i like xsi), lay it out set subsample level and let it fly. try dropping a cloth on a cube in xsi- it will botch it up every time- max has 2 cloth solutions- both kick ass! xsi has 2, they both suck balls. but xsi got best bone tools for spines and tail tools, max should rework bones to have twist rolloff solvers so characters wearing these well simulated cloths can be animated easir without crappy bipeds!
that was beautiful
