I like the reflector choice. Good hot center with enough diffusion around it to light up the surrounding area. Love the lighted power button too. Can't wait to get mine.
@ratballbag I vow not to bath or shave until I finish this KS project... wait, scratch that. I grew the thing for an 80's party I just went to. No joke, it has been one of the few social activities I've gone to since I started this second full-time job. One of my biggest drives is if I don't get thins finished someone bigger is going to take all my updates and go to market too.
I'm a big fan of MOP reflectors, but the beam looks pretty good as is. Not perfect, mind you - I much prefer a smooth wall of light such as that you get from a Surefire L4, but if the reflector you chose has dimensions similar to others on the market I may yet be able to choose my own - of course, making my own body would let me fit any reflector/TIR I like, but those four start threads scare me.
This is amazing. It seems like every choice you have made is the best all around decision. I was afraid this flashlight would end up just like all the other options: with some sort of compromise. So far, this flashlight looks like it is going to be the best all around light on the market.
Hexbright is a for me an example of a great Kickstarter project. The guys keep me well informed and even when there is a hick up in the time frame I will take this for granted as I know, as a result of their frequent updates, what they are working on.
I hope other Kickstarter projects and Kickstarter wannabees take an example of Hexbright how to keep people on their side and turn them even into product embassadors.
@beachmark63 I totally agree. Keeping the sponsors updated is very important to keep us excited about the product. Once this thing is able to be purchased in a regular store I'll sure be telling people about it.
@pisceaRisen I'm feeding 1.5 amps to the LED. Estimating efficiency of the reflector and window, I believe it is 400-425 lumen. ETA, ETA.... we're working on it.
I'm liking the smooth diffusion. Many lights I've had in the past have a very harsh hotspot and sharp transitions from the hotspot to the outer rim of light. I don't like the "halos" that come from that type. I'm very pleased with the reflector chosen!
@SMEEON Thanks, I agree. A lot of the 100-200 lumen lights have a very hot center spot that give it punch but immediately falls off. Our center spot is also hot, just larger diameter.
Keep up the good work, I can't wait to buy one when you're ready to sell them to the general public!

No. No orange peel. Please. I want a flashlight with some range, not an area light to work on my car. LOL

Any chance of this having a user replaceable LED? I am thinking swapping out an RGB LED module would be awesome!

@mark4931 not right now.... this is an idea we really, really like, but it is secondary.

@TheHexbright Fair enough. I just might have to try it on my own! ;)

I am feeling the beard. The fact that you have grown one whilst working on our flash-lights means a lot to me. I cannot wait for them to arrive!

Christian, what is the finish on the reflector?
only8vgti 4 months ago
@only8vgti it is a smooth mirror finish at present. Not orange peel. If you have a suggestions, please post.

I know that delivery was originally slated for October, that's obviously not going to happen. Will I see my Flex by Christmas? :)
