I just wanted to know: Were his British-immigrant parents joking when they named him "Frank James Cooper, " which some might interpret as glorifying a notorious outlaw? Or, and I find this hard to believe, were they not aware? Or were those family names? Seems to me he had to have taken some kidding about it.

now that is a movie star right  there . now you have adam sandler , and shia lebouf . it seems like in hollywood now there is a back lash agaisnt actors that have that all american german heritage good looks . i think kevin costner was the last of the type of actors in the line of gary cooper.

My all time favourite actor. I first saw him in Beau Geste when I was 10 years old & was hooked from that moment! Absolutely beautiful man, as well as an amazingly talented & charismatic actor. Thank you for posting this lovely tribute.
