Why do i think that for some reason steve jobs is behind all this... I hope that steve jobs goes to a zoo and falls into a elephant pit where a elephant would trample him to death. 600$ for a phone. if thats not bad enough he made the mac that always freezes up,and if THATS not bad enough, mac has to have upgrades just to play a simple game such as halflife.
I looked it up, its an arcane form of remote control, and yes, it is from the 1960's, pray.
We use RDP and ICA nowadays, encrypted in multiple layers off MS PPTP and IPSEC, all wrapped inside a CISCO ASA tunnel. Full screen control, with sound and moving wallpaper (dreams). You cant even tell the PC is 500 miles away. It's like your sitting in front of it!! RDP rules! Long live Windows!!
A guy who doesn't know the meaning of the word, "interoperability", expects me to believe he knows what he's talking about because he's a MSCE... o_0...
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
Get a cert that is actually respected, like RHCE. You won't get a job where I work with an MSCE. Resumes with that crap on them go straight in the bin.
I cant get RHCE, too much command line. command line is for boomers! My granpa uses command line! We wont even be using keyboards in 12 years!! command line is from the 1960's!!! DO YOU TELNET TOO!!!? ADMIT IT, YOU TELNET!!
So I guess if you're presented with a software problem and you can't get a desktop up and running you're toast then aren't you. You'd be completely useless even as a junior technician.
any PC in the company can break (HD failure) and I can put in a HD in 5 minutes, and then bring down their last Acronis image (booting to Roadstarter on my swiss army knife) in less than 12 minutes and have a PURE Microsoft desktop running for them. Their files and mail safely stored on the Windows 2003 R2 Server. So lets see, thats 17 minutes!
I could rebuild the PC OS in the lunchroom by PRESSING THE RESET SWITCH. I rigged that PC with Faronics Deepfreeze so peeps culd install anything !
I guess that just the point. You dont need to be a programmer to be a junior technican, Tier2 tech, Senior Technician, LAN Analyst, Network admin, Director of IS, or even CIO when you have a Pure Microsoft LAN/WAN with Vista, Office 2007, DYNAMICS and CRM with SFA by Microsoft. The software all works together becuase its ALL MADE BY MICROSOFT.
ROFL, your career is limited to Microsoft sites. Nobody said anything about a faulty hard drive, and nobody said anything about being a programmer... And omg a LAN with Vista... oh dear...
Why ? Because the EU commission can't be bought off the same way as the DoJ can ? Have you forgotten what a long running joke the DoJ is ? Also known as the MS-DoJ ? And what does "blast the EU commission" achieve ?
I find it fascinating that some Americans suddenly start jumping up and down crying foul as if its a US v EU fight of national importance. Its not. It is a fine for non-compliance with the original order which was for monopolistic abuses in the market which stifles or locks out competitors. Thats US competitors as well as EU competitors. Do some of you live on a diet of Fox news or something ?
Ask Microsoft's competitors if they think the EU's decision is "evil". It probably hasn't occurred to your minute brain that many of those competitors are also US companies.
They don't want source code, they want interoperability and Microsoft abused its monopoly to extract exorbitant fees from anyone who wanted functional interoperability. It is not about media player, that is a separate and current investigation.
I dont know of any windows app that suffers from "interoperability" issues. It only requires $500 to (and programmers that are willing to follow Microsoft standards) to become WIndows 32 bit logo certified. Still some companies refuse to follow Microsoft standards, they would rather follow Sun Java, the W3C, adobe, realplayer and open source. that's fine! but dont complain your app doesnt work with windows, if you cant even work with Microsoft programmers to become 32 bit logo certified!
"I dont know of any windows app that suffers from "interoperability" issues." Interoperability is about different systems being... interoperable, you know, different operating systems ? Working together ? Good grief, get a clue ! "follow Microsoft standards", Microsoft doesn't set standards, standards bodies like the ISO do. And Microsoft is well known in the industry for NOT following open and widely accepted standards. Microsoft's "standards" are proprietary formats, not open standards.
so, if you want to use "different operating systems" go use LINUX or UNIX. Why sue Microsoft? Microsoft should pull out of EU altogether. No new software, let them go 100% linux and mac. What's the problem with that?
The departure of Microsoft from the market would be a vast improvement. But businesses use a mix of operating systems for various reasons and need them to work together properly without having to reverse engineer api's, pay ridiculous fees for interoperability that should already exist, or be required to sign restrictive and legally questionable non-disclosure agreements. But the issues at work here are clearly way above your head.
Different operating system can work with each other fine over the net. I do it every day. I send rar, mpg, avi, wmv and par files. They can browse my Pure Microsoft website, designed in Expression, with animations in Silverlight. microsoft dot com / standards! Why anyone would want to mix different operating system on a LAN is beyond me. Either go pure Microsoft (as in my case) or 100% Linux. Linux has a large selection I'm sure you can get a suite that works well together for your company.
Lameington, listening to the two of you and looking up the acronyms and technologies Tim is talking about, It sounds to me as if YOU are the moron. He is a smart kid!
Well, he can work for you then. Just don't let him near the ClarkConnect server. Don't let him fiddle with your VPN. And make sure he actually tests those 'faulty' hard drives that are starting to pile up... If you're all excited by a kid dropping acronyms who doesn't understand some basic terms and concepts, and you don't care if your entire network uses an unstable, bloated operating system with a borked network stack... enjoy...
"to become WIndows 32 bit logo certified" again, we're not talking about Windows apps ! Java is open source, W3C is an international standards organization for crying out loud ! Adobe is a corporation, etc etc... You don't "work with Microsoft programmers to become 32 bit logo certified", and again, were not talking about Windows apps ! You have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. Go back to the drive thru at McDonalds.
dude, I'm the youngest MCSE in my state. I know what I am talking about.
"You are not talking about windows apps!?" so, what then? You keep mentioning NON MICROSOFT stuff! all that crap works on LINUX just fine. So why sue Microsoft for anything related "non windows apps" !!!
I'm going to work next year for Freightliner who has pledged to be "Pure Microsoft" by 2009! They wont even have the dreaded PDF! Pure Microsoft baby!! MS is the future!
I wasnt making fun of mac. Vista Ultimate runs great for me, and Dreamscenes Rule! YOu can expect Vista to run on your old hardware dude, You should have duo core, and at least 4 gigs of RAM. no wonder you had problems. I run OSX in VMware, on Vista. Mac is cool too!
You think needing a dual core with 4gig of ram just to run the operating system adequately is "runs great for me" ?? Oh wait, you're one of those mind numbingly stupid n00bs who says things like "Dreamscenes Rule!"... Case closed.
dude, in 12 years, when I'm 29. I'll be running Windows 2020 on a 1024 core system, with a 500 Terabyte HD and 4 Terbytes of superconductin RAM. Windows will take up 10 Terabytes and the freakin wallpaper(dreams) folder will take up 10 TB!! It'll all fit in my Zune and get projected on the back of my eyeballs. ITS CALLED MOORES LAW, go look it up pops!
In 12 years you won't be running Windows. And Moore's law relates to the increase of processing power, not to poorly designed and bloated operating system software. n00b.
Good question ! Maybe Microsoft will throw a fit and leave the EU. It's a matter of time before the EU starts "nationalizing" corporate assets. I wouldn't build a factory there.
The EU needs the money becuase of the laziness of the EU workers. Unions are strong there, and they have Siesta's every day. They also have to pay for their "free" health care.
hahaha I guess you wont believe me but the truth is that even here in spain thats an old and almost forgotten tradition only for older ppl and turists on holidays...for the rest of us...well, we live to work. :(
