NEW Seaside Heights 1970's Tourism Film Ocean County NJ

My parents took us as kids 1973-1982 and it was cool to watch this. I remember the swiss bobs and some of those space rides. I loved Kohrs, and in this vid its shocking to see how the register is right in the corner where anyone can rob them! I dont think I saw one non-white in this whole video though. in the late 80s it became known as 'sleaze-side' as more staten islanders came down.

I remember when the Freeman's Carousel was only 50 cents to ride, today it's $2 to ride. The Beachcomber, The Greyhound Game at Lucky's Facination's, and other memories of Seaside. This is my SUMMER spot down The Jersey Shore, and only one hour from my home in Hamilton Township (Mercer County), NJ.

my grandpa told me about the train station and bridge,, the night the ship hit the bridge, set a blaze, the passing TomsRiver to Bayhead bound PRR passenger train, engineer jumped, the engine and some or all cars passed but set a blaze screaming into the island and the boiler exploded created more of a blaze then the train came to a rest on its side for it rolled over from its speed as it ran into the curve just before the street station in Seaside Park. Well lots have changed at seaside heights NJ for openers all the nice family atmosphere is gone the beach is dirty as hell the gangs, minority’s and drunk fouls mouthed teenagers control everything all if not most hotels have been riddled with bug bugs roaches and other stuff the food overpriced and stale, the police are frustrated hand out parking tickets galore and the idiots from the jersey shore tv show make it even more crowded it’s a dirty filthy rat hole there

Seaside is not what it used to be anymore. Now u have crime and the jersey shore show on mtv. I once saw police chasing a man on the boardwalk. The man was so stupid that he jumped onto the chair lift. They stopped the chair lift half way and the man had no choice but to jump and await the police waiting for him at the bottom.

I visit Seaside every year and if you're lucky,get there early for a good parking spot otherwise you might walk a bit to the beach. Last year I went early for some sunrise photos and captured a video of some weird thing on the beach. Still don't know what it was. Found it before they combed the beach in the morning. Look up my vids and you'll see what I recorded of the Seaside creature with no head or paws.

Cops were assholes back in the early 90s when we used to hang out there. I went to a party once and there was seaside cops there smoking pot that they confiscated, and bragging about it!!

I made pizza at Gigi's, 315 Boardwalk. I was the owner's nephew. I worked there from 1962 through 1970. I look like the guy they got throwing the dough, but its not me. I stayed at the St Charles, in my older teenage years.

Some of this video looks like before 1969.

I also live literally minutes from Seaside, and it's a good place. If you're looking for trouble or drugs, you'll find it. But then you'll also find those nasty cops. But if you're a good and normal person, you'll just have a good time.

i live literally 2 mins from seaside just before the bridge seaside is filled with drug addicts drug dealers and young cops with bad attitudes......

Live in Florida now, but going back to visit the boards this weekend after 18 years. Do any of you remember a place called Poor Pete's Pizza which had great pizza in the 1970's? They closed up in the early 80's I think. I miss crabbing on the bay, Spin Art, Click-Clacks, Charlie's Italian Sausage, Kohr's Orange Drink, and endless announcements over the boardwalk P.A. system of "Is anybody looking for..."

@FansFiltration kohrs is still there, the bay is the cleanest ive seen it in years. i vacationed there every summer from 1970 to 1988. i live in pa now so i dont get there much anymore. i love it & miss it.

as someone who grew up in TR in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, this was a treat as i spent plenty of time in seaside. of course, i wanted to scream at the people in the ocean and the bay: HEY! wait til you find out what Toms River Chemical is dumping in the ocean you're in! Of course, i can't laugh about any of that - i am one of those people. i probably glow in the dark now because of it.

@mamas2hip The Toms River/Bayville Children Death and Cancer Cell Drinking water cover up, any residence south of RT 37, along the river and mostly anyone whom swam in the barnegat nearto and around the Toms River and north of the inlet up to the first tide jetties,,, ah most all of south jersey's drinking water got waked in 83,, thanks to Ciba-Geigy Chemical....
