  • i love the lyrics to this song alot. i also like that u do the blues in a cash way and that in a kinda new wave or new fangeld way,,,,,.... but i can sense the grunge in your heart!!!!!!!!! idk if thats all true but i like nirvana cash and for some reason lady gaga and it seems that u are a perfect inbetween>.

  • Auto tune?...

  • I wonder if if would not do well by setting up a private party tour, where you invite about a dozen or so fans to a small musical performance in someone's house, and sell tickets at a premium. There is a movement of this sort of thing going on is some areas of the country, where bands that are popular locally are invited to play for a small group of people who pay as much as $100 a person to attend. It is a more intimate setting, where one gets to interact with the band/musicians between sets

  • Yu have such an A M A Z I N G voice<3

  • This is and Library Girl are my favorite songs of yours. If I could pick the songs for your next EP album, they would Be:

    1. Library Girl

    2. Sister Don't Cry

    3. Wonder

    4. Good Bye Butterfly

    5. Nightsong

  • @DarkSedna If not "Nightsong" for track 5, a live accoustic version of "Chance" would also be really cool.

  • @DarkSedna I like that selection, especially if you used your youtube versions, sans the comments you often make at the end of a video. I think a DVD of some or all of your videos would be a great alternative to a CD. I would buy it.

  • Sounds pretty great through the surround sound too. I hope my neighbors like it too.

  • This song is neat. Is it 8:4? It has a deceptively simple seeming beat. I can picture it on your usual guitar, so I hope to see it on a live video! I'm a huge acoustic fan so I won't lie and say I want to hear a lot more of this from you, but now and then would be like the occasional hybrid rose among a sea of single pure white gardenias. well that's my lame attempt at a metaphor anyway ;) I wish I could just sit down when I can't sleep at night and come up with something like this...talent

  • Love this song. Im a big fan, but I believe you should try more electronics. Your voice has goes well with many different styles and sounds badass. So why not do more with it. Love it and love you :)

  • this is really the description of people I don't like...

how many people like that I have meet in my life ?

But why to be angry against or sad... why say : Fuck you ! or Get away !

I want to be proud of me so I say like you : Goodbye, Butterfly !

  • GREAT SONG! Thought it was kool. I'm from Brooklyn N.Y. And grew up hearing all different kinds of music. I just jumped on you tube to hear some 'ORGINAL SONGS' from song writtters and think your very talented. Love ALL songs you play gartar on! Posted on FaceBook... Like to see what ppl think...

    I LOVE IT!

I LISTEN to a lot of Z100 a music station hear. Think they will LOVE your TUNES!

    GOOD LUCK!

  • Reina, I've been such a huge fan for such a long time! This song is so beautiful!

I finally got my internet back (after like... forever without it) and your youtube channel was the first thing I came back to!

This is so wonderful, Reina, so damn beautiful.

  • Hope you'll do another one like this sometime.

  • You seem to attract commenters who can't quite handle their own vocabulary.

Sorry that had to be my first comment. I like your stuff!

  • reminds me of Owl City

  • superfluous.....sheeeesh. I have a PhD or GED. Guess which one....

  • Excellent....stripped of all superflous embellishment with the exception of the fusion of vocoder and your lovely vocal quality. Hit me again...

  • Hei RDC:)

I would suggest you to try electronic music production every day:)

Very good result for the first attempt.

  • Is there a download for this somewhere? I want this song so bad ^^

  • Oh my gawd, I love this soooo much ^^

  • sometimes i am nervous to listen to new songs you put up since i always wind up playing it on endlesstube for the remainder of the week

    <3 you reina!

  • I'm addicted to this song. You have an amazing gift for creating audio art that elicits such a profound feeling in some that they deliberately integrate it into themselves as a pattern for experiencing pleasure. Please do more of this.

  • Love it!

  • I prefer ur other stuff but this is still great :D

  • that's nice :)

  • Aw... another good one. I like the image, btw. :)

  • i like it, hears really cool =), good stuff Reina!

  • wow purely amazing Reina!!! I love it. i wish someone would come out with an app for Android where you can make music....

  • im not sure wether it's just your voice and i know that you do have an amazing voice but i swear i can hear autotune and you don't need it if there is.

  • This is absolutely amazing. I really love this. Please, do not stop! :D

  • You are a brilliant lyricist! And your voice is so rich and earthy. I can't get enough of your music.

  • I love your creativity! Please keep up the good work. This is a great format for you. YOu should include more of it. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful talents.

  • 很好听

  • I shared this with my son and his response was:" Who is the artist? I want everything she has done!."

  • Although I enjoy your guitar, I don't believe this song would fare as well with it as it does with this type of accompaniment. It seems you wrote this melody with garageband in mind. I've found myself liking this song and its lyrics. Apparently…you can do no wrong...

  • WOW! I had gotten out of the habit of checking for new music from you and this made me sorry I haven't been listening to it since the day it came out. This is great! Please do more of this, lots more!!!!!

  • This is different for you but you still do an amazing job at it :) I really like it's words and the sound :)

  • I know you said you're not really going to do much more of this electronica stuff, but i REALLY think you should. I love the normal Reina guitar stuff, but honestly, this song also rocks and I could listen to it over and over. PLEASE do more in this style!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Crazy good. Not what I expected and that is a good thing.

  • Ohhhh good!!!! C:

  • if you're going to add effects... please add the slight reverb to your voice to make it sound more "full"

  • that was not bad at all.

  • Different, but nice.

  • Love this song best of all your new songs. Its fast, but sad. Normally the two things don't go together, but it works great here.

  • It's one of your best song. I would have prefer the song with layering more and more instruments along the way, like in techno music. But still... it's pretty good.

  • Ya know what this songs needs? I'll tell ya what this song needs: over-sized, sparkly sunglasses. And moon boots. With those two things this song would be full of /win.

Great expansion, Reina, I hope you had fun making & learning!

  • It is a travesty that music like this is out there and instead we get techo/autotune bs reina please never change your saving the last true music

  • I really like :)

    Like really like :)

  • @raphtor13

I agree. It could be worse but ur other stuff is better.

  • I absolutely hate the auto-tune effects in this...had to stop listening about halfway through.

Reina you are soooo much better than this crap.

  • I do prefer your guitar, but this is really nice! =) Like it!

is like your way out of rutine with a modern experiment that came out so good ;P

  • I really like this song! Trace like song and it sounds awesome! =)

  • 0:50 - 0:56 reminds me of a beatle's song... =)

  • At the end of this neat video where Reina is talking about keeping in touch more often, she flashes a playful smile….one that can be found in some other videos with talking sections…..makes me smile each time ;). In the "Five Facts" video she gets playfully ornery as she is picking us up (with the camera). Her voice and creative talents are a terrific bonus to her neat personality. I am proud to call myself a Reina fan…..

  • I love this! I hope the surprise you're talking about is getting your songs put on iTunes. :)

  • i will love any song you upload...but i like more your ballad style

  • If the music business had any semblance of honor and integrity left, Reina would already be a star. Until that time does come, thank you YouTube!

  • This is absolutely brilliant... everything you touch turns to gold.

  • uploaded on my birthday! <3

  • I like the experiment Reina...which surprises me since I don't usually go for the electronic beat thing. Keep experimenting and pushing your boundaries, but don't forget the guitar stuff that got you noticed by me in the first place!

  • Great to see you're still exploring your range :) Keep up the good work!

  • whoaaa... totally unexpected and did i mention awesome?? an excellent surprise

and perfect for 5 am youtubing....

  • Fuck everyone. It's music. You can write whatever you want.

  • Another great song from you. It's different than your other songs, but i still like it. :-) I wonder if you can do an acoustic version of this song. I like to hear it too.

  • diggin the change of style... keep it up!

  • I so love this.

  • Loved it......what a talent!!!!

  • harsh lyrics

  • This is really great!

  • I like it. I prefer your classic stuff and Library Girl will probably always be my favorite but this was well done too. (Not that I'm surprised, my kids and I love all your songs so far). Thanks for sharing and I hope that news on the music front is an album!!

  • I love your stuff, but I can't stand the Auto-Tune thing... sorry! :]

  • Haha your voice is so good that the autotune barely does anything anyway. Sounds great. Change is always interesting.

  • Haha your voice is so good that the autotune barely does anything anyway. Sounds great. Change is always interesting.

  • Good, really good, but I must admit i like much more your clasic style :)

    Happy new Year

  • Great!

  • it sounds very good and your voice is still wonderful

  • It so good to hear your voice again. I really like the style. If you know someone (perhaps a fellow student) who does audio engineering, they could be a very powerful partner. You deserve better sound equipment and mixing than Garage Band! I hope you keep experimenting with this style.

PS: A project you can't tell us about? Sounds promising!!!

  • Wow, this was a pretty different approach. I know it's not your style, but I can honestly say that no matter what you experiment with musically you do it very well. I really enjoyed listening. The lyrics were, as always, lovely and catchy. I can't wait for the next video! Keep up the great work and take care in the real world!

  • Reina endeavors to write a song for every second of your life. On her list the item - incredible moment on the dance floor - has just been checked. And this song is just amazing. I like the beats, the lyrics and how it all comes together in Butterfly. I like it all round. This is art.

I had a great day today. Days & nights of preparation seem to pay off. That is why I feel like dancing.

I would like to dance more often and look forward to more electronic experiments.

    A TransAtlanticWolf

  • Really enjoyed this Reina..brilliant

  • Keep doin' what you love, Reina. Your experimental sound is pretty amazing. I hope a lot of good for you and your music.

  • Its a breath of fresh air is what this song is! But I also agree with the others about the auto-tune controversy. For me personally, I think it takes away the intimacy in your voice - which is one of the reasons I like listening to your songs. All the best to you this year! Cheers :)

  • Love the new track.

  • You are really, really good.

  • You are really, really good.

  • Once again, these lyrics are so impressive. Your foray into a "different sound" was very well done, especially considering you did this on your own. It's great to know you have the talent to compete in any musical arena. This effort shows you'll be able to adapt to any format you attempt. Hopefully your fans realize you will always be able to do the acoustic version of ANY song you put out there. Keep pushing the envelope while staying true to the core of your musical soul.

  • As always I love your music and your lyrics. I think it's a shame though that you used a form of auto-tune for this song as your natural voice is far more beautiful. Keep on writing beautiful lyrics and please sing in your voice.

  • Dear Reina!

    All the best for 2011!

You are doin' right if you try something new, and always remember your roots.

    Brandtstifter

  • U always rock Reina. Keep it up!

  • Looks like you've got seven pages of comments telling you how great you are already...but here's one more...

It's been awhile since I've checked out your music and I had forgotten how beautiful your voice is.

Not crazy about the auto-tune, but experimentation is how we move forward. You won't know what future songs it may work for if you don't know how it works.

And I sympathize with the school + work thing. Doing that myself.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm totally investing in you.

  • Another amazing song! ^_^ This style totally works for you, although if I had to choose, I think I like your usual style better, but I hope to hear more of both from you, at least occasionally. :3

  • OMG! It really does sound so much better with headphones.

  • I'm looking forward to you combining your acoustic style with the electronic stuff.

  • This style is not drastically different from the normal style. I do like beat but I think the autotune is both unnecessary and detracts from the beauty of the song.

  • While I'm vehemently opposed to autotune when it's used to cover the mistakes of sub-par singers, I'm all for it being used for artistic purposes.

If I'm to be honest, while I actually do like this song, I much prefer Reina's other songs. I think it would be sad if she decided to pursue this style of music rather than that of her previous work.

However, it would be a far greater shame if Reina wanted to pursue this path, but never did because of people complaining. It is her music after all.

  • @thagamizer this comment sums up my thoughts perfectly.

  • U Rock!

  • beautiful!

  • truthfully i like you better without autotue, otherwise its a cool song!

  • I like it!!!

  • That you have a beautiful mind is well known. That it works wonders during reflection, there can be no doubt…..

  • I really love the song and the melody .. I'm glad Mr Pinata was the first song I came across though .. :o)

  • It's great when you branch out creatively. Even Katie Melua experimented with electronics in her 2010 album.

    .

Reina, these lyrics are just as perceptive & emotive & subtle & clever & Apollonian & cosmic-but-sensory as always. But it's hard to encompass these qualities using electronics, which inherently simplify the rich organic complexity that is Reina's domain.

    .

Maybe you'll indulge your old fans with an acoustic interpretation,

    possibly with a new melody,

    preferably by Friday(!) Thx! 8-)

  • Nicely done Reina! It was beautiful as always. Hope your new year and holidays were great! Keep on being awesome!

  • I really like the song and the rhythm. You and your guitar are not joined at the hip. It's good to hear you shake things up every now and then. Happy New Year!

  • I appreciate the experimenting, but I miss the rawness of your other stuff.

  • I CAN get that high. haha... Sounded good, pretty far out ; )

If you ever need a Mastering Engineer... ... I'm around.

  • I like it

  • the lyrics are GORGEOUS and they deserve something more than electronics!! i think this would be beautiful as an acoustic!!!

  • Do I like the song? It's different than what I'm used to from you, so it probably has to grow on me. Your voice sounds good, as usual. Not bad at all, but not your best work (sorry! remember: it's all in the eye (ear) of the beholder).

  • @JeansNL Well, I gave it a few days and listened to the song a few times, and I must say, it IS growing on me. Even though electronic music is not really my thing, this is not bad at all *nod head*

    You may proceed experimenting ;)

  • just awesome....even without your blue guitar your songs make me "flying" to another planet...keep on my dear, your`re the best on Youtube i could imagine...by the way, happy new year and let us be part to your following songs...u r just amazing Reina

  • More I listen, more I like !!!

  • Dope song, would be cool if someone could animate the image you used so the butterflies fly away at the end :)

  • Experiment more often :)

  • Hey Reina,

long time since we've heard from you!

I think Goodbye butterfly is a very interesting project! After all, we almost could not imagine you without that blue guitar anymore ;-)

And it's nice to see you trying different style! Sure worked out great! :-)

    And I LOVE THE LYRICS!!!

(I'm working on my 3rd volume of poems right now, so believe me when I say I know a good poem or good lyrics when I read 'em! - and I do read a lot)

    Wishing you a wonderful 2011!

    Love from Holland,

    David

  • Interesting... I think it would have been better with a mix of this with guitar, personally. Don't completely abandon this, because I think it really DOES broaden your horizons a bit. It's always nice to see fellow artists expanding on their styles.

  • I thought it was great what you did. Beautiful lyrics and great melody. I liked your experiment and I faved it. Keep up the good work and let us hear new songs from you soon.

I also wish you a succesful, peaceful, healthy New Year with a lot of Love. Lots of love Ernst from Holland.

  • Wow this is a result of a sleepless night and experimenting with garage band for a little bit? I think I need to stay up all night and do the same because this was just great! You're great! I Look forward to hearing more of your "experimenting" =)

  • I absolutely love this, but I agree with other people... you don't need autotune!

  • I enjoyed it qhite a bit

  • Im not gonna say "ITS DIFFERENT! I DO NOT LIKE DIFFERENT! D=<" or anything - I do really like this!! =) I would say though, I dont think you need the auto-tune AT all!! I love the lyrics to this song too - maybe an acoustic version of this sometime? =D

  • When Bob Dylan performed live a ' folky ' little number back in the '60s, he was almost crucified by his ' fans ' for using electric instruments ( imfamously now known as the ' Judas ' concert ) that little number was called ' Like A Rolling Stone '. Reina Del Cid is a superb singer/songwriter, an artist who is developing her craft and not being stifled by conformity or bias. To paraphrase Robert Browning..."Reina's reach should exceed her grasp...or what is music for ?"

  • @mrratchild....well said!!

  • You'll make for a good composer Reina.

  • Innocence or naivety is such bliss....but if you choose to live your life in that manner, you can be buried alive before you know it. This song captures the heart-wrenching decision to move on from it, whether the blissful person is the singer herself or someone close to her....either way it is a dreadful decision....but wise, necessary, and self preserving....to that end this song says it all....

  • @SenorCrushMan: Dang Senor….your introspective interpretation of these lyrics has tweaked mine….again. That is a problem I have with almost all of Reina's lyrics….different points in time (within my mind) brings on different interpretations of her thoughts as she wrote them. I sometimes wonder if the lyric meanings change with time for Reina…..I doubt it....but I would probably feel better if they did ;).

  • Not that what I think means diddly, but....I am a fan of all genres and forms of music with one requirement, that it moves me. I tell my daughter to get past the twang, the hip hop, the screaming guitar, or the pompous attitude...if the lyrics or music move you, any type of music is worth while. The lyrics to this song are amazing, the melody is great, your voice comes shining through. I've said it many times....you are a very unique talent....no labels, just great music....well done RDC!!

  • Bravo for stepping out and trying something different. Always impressed by that kind of thing. Several people mentioned the autotune thing. All I'm going to say is, like a lot of things, a little bit goes a long way. It's not evil. Just good in moderation.

I would like to hear some BGVs on your 2nd chorus. Harmonies or "oohs". You had a great build thru the song. Just wanted it to go farther. BGV might of done it.

And as always, LOVE THE LYRICS. Good to hear from you again. Thanks Reina!

  • I like this, its interesting, it will be more interesting to remake some of your older songs with this style, like distance

  • DO NOT USE AUTO TUNE

    THATS WHAT MAKES IT AWSOME<

the imperfecetoins in the voice make it perfect.

  • i love you and your blue guitar. dont change

  • i think its great!

  • Cool and different....kind of like your new doo.

Nice performance, keep up the great work.

  • gosh you're great :)

  • this is cool. a lil different still lovin ur other stuff though so dnt get in habit of this xx

  • For some reason she reminds me of Pam from " The Office".

  • loved it

  • Don't listen to all of these people as long as you make music that you like that's what counts! you wanted something new and that's what matters!!

  • Honors for this video (3)#37 - Most Discussed (Today)) - Music#192 - Most Viewed (Today)) - Music - Canada#49 - Top Rated (Today)) - Music

  • YAY for new things and experiments, I love this, and you! you Rock!!

  • She didn't abuse the autotune at least. I felt like it was okay.

  • I can mos def imagine hearing this on the radio or a dance club.

  • I can mos def imagine hearing this on the radio or a dance club.

  • Always love the lyrics of your songs, looking forward to more songs.

  • Auto tune is pretty terrible but very present in music today. I like your other stuff but props to you from breaking away from the safety of what you normally do and taking a chance.

  • nice to see something different but i personally prefer your normal stuff

  • she said she was trying something different guys...if she wants to try auto tune she can! quit telling her what to do!

i loved this song! youre an amazing singer&writer:)

  • I noticed that you used the plural and not the singular when mentioning graduate school. It would not surprise me if you were pursuing a couple of post graduate degrees at the same time. You would be one of the few intellectuals who could pull this off successfully.

Quite a few RDC fans have speculated that your future music news is a CD. Several days ago I had a dream where you had recorded a CD titled "The Stars in My Universe."

Good luck with your studies and music.

  • ecin

  • Wonderful turn toward a new style. I see you in it and feel your personal touch. The electronic is fresh, easy and the story line all yours. Great job!

  • It felt a little Euro to me. Though I was quite impressed, and liked the sound. I got a 'ride around with the top down' vibe form it. Still it was signature all you. Thanks for the post I loved it.

  • Like the sound of this.

  • I'm glad you're experimenting with new things. This song grows on me more every time I listen to it, now that I'm getting over expecting it to be heading in the same direction as your other recent songs. Do what you want. I'm sure it will be amazing as long as you put the same amount of care into it that you always do.

  • I love this song! Beautiful lyrics on a subject not written about too often. I like the use of electronics. The narrow range and relative simplicity of the melody make it well-suited for an electronic backdrop. I'm no autotune proponent, but I vote yes in this instance. Your natural voice with all of the electronics would sound strange, and damage the cohesion of the song. It's not an issue of needing it, it's an issue of doing what the song calls for.

  • "Stuff on the Musical Front" certainly a reason for Celebration. These

Amazing Gems are awaiting Discovery. I expect a Reina CD to be Among

My all Time Favorite " Maybe One Day" Occurrences. Still I would wait for

    You Forever.

  • Another keeper!!

  • Love the lyrics :)

  • Go for it, kid! Growth occurs when you take chances and try something different!

  • I think this is beautiful, truly. Do what makes you happy, forget the critics.

  • I like the song, but not the autotune.

  • hmm despite what other people say i gotta say i like it. good job!

  • I'm not very sanguine about how your fans are going to react to the new Reina that you are about to reveal - Gagadelcid?
