I saw him premiere this last spring. This evening I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Fisk play a Rodrigo concerto. The energy this man brings to his interpretations is really quite incredible.
@Benjiko lol is not like he wrote this, he is just playing it how it's supposed to go, is not his fault, blame the composer. And i find this interesting, maybe if you listen to it with the orchestra it will sound better. Not everything has to sound Beethoven or Chopin. Still far above Lady Gaga's Alejandro.
This clip is really not representative of the Beaser Concerto--it's just a casual video of Fisk alone playing part of it (the third movement) in a studio. Too bad, becuase I was at the premiere and the piece is incredible--it got a huge standing ovation at Carnegie. It hasn't been recorded yet, but I hope it gets done soon, because it's an amazing work. Some of these comments are kind of ridiculous, but maybe because we just hear the guitar part alone. .
Yet, the piece is written and performed despite public taste. Isn't it interesting how successful music can be without truly creating a passionate following? Who out there who isn't politically connected to Eliot or Robert is a passionate fan? No crowd shall bring either to their funerals; nor move strangers to tears by their passing. Their works will hover in school libraries and students will tout their professors achievements to highlight their lineage, and the flow runs to a silent trickle
I think its surely brilliant played, i don't want to see the score... I just dont get why its popular for a lot of musicians (and composers as well) to believe that the most freaked out and extreme things they can do with the instrument are the most genius ones. I just don't get what this music shall express, i dont ever want to feel like that.
It feels nice to push your limits and while you hear speedy music we feel it a whole diffrent way. The thing is we play you listen so how could you understand really???
The most off-time guitarist of all time, truly shit. He would make a better living as a butcher. A disgrace to all true musicians. How can anyone listen to this garbage. I feel like vomiting. How can anyone play guitar for so long and still suck so much.
Now, unto the comment: Don't blame the guitarist, blame the composer. Any how, the performer was trying his best to performed what was on the page. I want to see a video of you doing something similar before bulshiting someone elses performaces. Stop and give him some credit would you?
Holy moley, what a performance! (I kept on hearing Copland's hoe-down in my mind's ear - is that just me?)

My God, how is this concert is difficult!!! And Mr. Fisk played it like there is no any difficulty for him. He's Segovia's follower. It's forever.
I wonder, what mics did they used here?

I had an opportunity to see and hear Elliot in Sioux Falls. Beaser was with him at the performance. The performance was outstanding.

Possibly THE WORST guitarist who is concertizing today. This isn't music, this is gibberish, even by rock standards, to say nothing of classical.

Amazing! Eliot's sound is so great here - not so harpsichordish but with enough edge for clarity. Brilliant!!!!!!
