Items like this are not "one-trick ponies". It's up-to-the musician to use them in a creative and imaginative manner rather than relying on pressing a button to make millions of mediocre sounds. It's all about tone, not gimmicks.
As for price moaning, It really amazes me how many people want quality equipment but expect it at 3rd world slave labor prices. Like everything else in life, good kit has never been cheap (and really, this pedal isn't expensive at all)

けど、ちとONすると、hIがキツく成る印象。
