  • This is great man, your vids make me smile all the time!!!

  • Hey thanks man.

  • lol poverty but they have cable good eye noyjee..i went a year without cable when i had an appartment in the ghetto.. it wasnt poverty it was called "cant afford it"..suck the gov tity lol

  • poor spending habits makes for poverty. smart people spend wisely and create good lives for themselves. ignorance lead to poverty. american poor are not as bad as 3rd world types it's true. i have a crush on you!

  • that's dissappointing... i didn't have cable for years and i'm fine lol... my brother gets food stamps and nobody looks at him differently, that kinda annoys me too. nice vid pointing stuff like this out. i spot travian in the background! lol

  • Thanks man, and yeah the game drives me crazy some times.

  • very good point Cody. Although there is really cheap deals on satelitte and cable now for like 30 dollars monthly. I agree with you man, I've gone a long time without satelitte or cable and it is a luxury.

  • Thanks man. Cool, haven't heard of it getting that cheap. Wonder if any one those cheap packages have Spike or VS.

  • cody, u are hilarious. seeing the big show and y2j on the tvs, they should be watching you and not the USA network.

  • LOL, thanks Shan. Or they don't have to watch anybody and work on their lives. :P

  • @noyjeetut good video, they should be watching reruns of debris tv not usa network!

  • LOL, I'm flattered a lot of people think I can compete with a network. :P

  • this is a good one Cody

    5 *

i like the big sippy cup of soda ......

    SUGAR is the gateway drug

it cost way more than gas

and we will die before our time

    STOP the madness

    NOW go in PEACE

  • That's true, although corn is becoming just as bad.

  • Poverty is relative its not an absolutely definable thing,it has a lot to do with peoples unrealistic sense of entitlement a feeling that they deserve certain things just by virtue of being born into a society where such things exist and so if they don't have the cars, gadgets or disposable income someone else might have then they feel had done by regardless of whatever work that person had to do to get those things .

  • @iroscoe well said!

  • Yeah, I know what your saying. It'd be interesting to see some of these families in a much poorer country with the same luxuries and see if they're more satisfied and not keeping up with the Jones.

  • Yes picking out plastic from a rubbish tip in Kenya to get by might put things into perspective .

  • one of your best vids

  • Hey thanks man, that means a lot.

  • I guess it depends on how you look at it. Poor people generally enjoy more simple pleasures; they smoke more, watch more movies, have more sex, etc... I could definitely see a family scrounging what they can and sacrificing a few good meals a month in exchange for cable tv.

This looks bad for WWE, though. The number one show on poverty tv.

  • its not called "Poverty in Colorado".

    its "Childhood Poverty in Colorado"

  • That's not the point.

  • I totally agree with you on this whole vid.

  • Thanks man!

  • While I agree that American poverty is not the same as other forms of poverty in third world countries, I would argue that it is far too much of a generalization to say that these people aren't trying their hardest as a result of seeing a few photographs of them and their TVs.

  • debris

  • Well, there is also stolen cable... But I agree with you.

  • I agree.

Being Poor in America is not the same as being poor in Another Country.

  • A lot of people are uneducated and are high school drop outs, they don't have the opportunities to work a job that pays $75K-$100K+ a year.

Even with everyone getting laid off, the competition is more than ever for middle/low class people, because you have people competing to get a job that they didn't want a year ago.

Many areas don't have jobs like mine, but we could pick up and move next week and make more money. But people don't have the money to settle down in another place.

  • Welfare assistance is great, but it's no long term deal. Every family experiences the ups and downs of life, having food there to feed your family is needed or you'd starve.

You can say you can do better, but with both parents getting jobs and the daycare bills adding up, that alone eats up a whole check. Food prices are rising everyday, it's hard to survive compared to 5 years ago.

Knock Welfare all you want, but our Government is wasting more money on bullshit than it's own citizens.

  • Our Gov. is wasteful in every way possible, foreign countries are getting billions every year and they hate our guts. Even in war if we bomb a building, who do you think pays to build it back up? The American tax payer.

Welfare assistance is just a smidge of the bigger picture, but people in the states are quick to attack others that are taking money from it. Why? Because it's easy to do so.

Everyone can improve, but people can take what they can get. It's our job as a tax payer to change it.

  • I never said get rid of Welfare, I just think families getting it should reevaluate the non essentials they have in their home.

  • Education is a lie and a scam for those of us born poor. I'm living proof that a COMPUTER DEGREE means nothing when you come from a poor background. Only the RICH KIDS who come from $100k/yr+ families get the jobs.

  • its not HAITI POOR

  • Take away the food and it would be.

  • Also Cody, I agree with you on that there are multiple levels of poverty. I don't understand though on the families with so many kids. If they know they're in poverty, maybe 3 or 4 kids is enough until they can get back onto their feet? A lot of health offices hand out free condoms. Also notice the ultra sized big gulps in a few of the pictures? It's cheaper to make your own food, not eat 7-11.

  • That's a big problem too, we have been so removed from our farming and DIY roots that when tough times come upon us a lot of people still buy stupid shit.

  • @Hessling Family. I know their missing a provider but mechanics aren't all that bad of jobs. Unless all he can do is oil changes. When I was young we didn't have a whole lot but I'm lucky to have the easier lifestyle I do now. My dad is the main provider for the house and he's been a mechanic at dealerships since I was born. My mom makes no where near as much as my dad, she's an activity director at a nursing home.

  • The milk tastes like gold, lol. Priceless.

  • good point yeah poverty is such a subjective term. In third world countries its being without food, shelter or having a place to live. In the western world its not being able to get permium service cable for a month or two. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

  • poverty can indeed be a side affect to other larger problems indeed... such as mental illness.

adobe homes are often mixed with shit ;)

this family doesn't so much seem 'poverty stricken' so much as them struggling to accept that they live in the 21st century and in a country that has a system that's easily taken advantage if you have children.

  • That's a good point, a lot of people would rather work the system once they learn how to.

  • Nail on the head, Cody.

I just wish others could see the light.

  • Thanks man.

  • Reminds of my neighbors that gripe about how poor they are cause they live in a trailer but they keep buying new Trucks, ATV's , Boats, Dirt Bikes, Big screen TV etc.

  • I've seen that man. Like people in trailers who have flat screens bigger than their wall.

  • Well as a person that lives in Colorado I can tell you that those people in the pictures are for sure considered poor lol. I mean look at people in Aspen with their $400,000 cars! You know what I see in those pictures? A family with a HOUSE! Not an apartment or a trailer, a HOUSE! Those other people with 2 trailers that are next to each other, I feel for them because I'm also in a trailer in Colorado.

  • Ya, seems like a large gap in the lifestyles presented in many of the pictures.

  • I agree completely, but that's the mentality of many people. I myself don't have cable because I'd rather have that 50 dollars a month rather than spend it on TV. But I can understand it. People in less-than-perfect circumstances really want to get their minds off of their problems, and maybe not having TV would be a constant reminded of their poverty. That would be a GOOD reminder, to get something done about it, but they don't think that way, and they perpetuate their problems.

  • Ya, I wonder what they could get done if the focused on their problems instead of being distracted.

  • Wrestling before food cody.

  • Even if it's the WWE?

  • What do you think these people would do without cable? Reproduce even more ;-)

  • I am broke all I have is the shell on my back !!

haha hope all is good with you & your Bro.

  • And I bet as broke as they are, they still have their beer and their weed!!!!! My aunt complains about being broke............ Yet I watch her purchase an ounce of weed every week and she has "premium" cable... Yup, digital cable with the DVR and all the bells and whistles!!! I give her shit all the time... In fact, just the other day I actually told her to shut up!!! I was tired of hearing about how broke she was.

Great vid man!!! Way to point that out!!!

  • I think we all know people like that.

  • the one kid Was just a fat redkneck watching WWE , and my sat bill is 100 a month..

  • Is there something wrong with being a Redneck?

  • I live in Alabama i sure hope nope not.. And way out in the sticks i might add.. it was just a comment about the fat kid..

  • Hell yeah! Ain't nothing wrong with living out in the sticks! What part of Alabama?

  • close to taledega..

  • @ding0925 South Central Ga. here. I've got some kin in B'ham and don't care too much for that place. lol Too big for me.

  • Did u see the pic of the kid playing the Game Cube? The only question that went through my head was what's he playing lol.

  • there are poor and starving children in america but sadly most of them are because there parents neglect them , they spend there money wrong or they have too many kids.luckly they have the US around them to make there lives better. your right though, most peopel aint trying even half assed anymore.

  • That's true.

  • there driving a car, let alone a nice suv. they just look like drug dealers

  • They probably are. :P

  • + they were all obese good vid bud

  • well said
