In order to generate H2 via electrolysis you need Power (kWh).
Electrolysis: 2 H2O(l) → 2 H2(g) + O2(g)
YOU NEED MORE ENERGY TO GENERATE H2, THAN YOU CAN GET OUT OF H2!!! >:(
QUESTION: Which form of energy is the electricity based on that you use for the electrolysis?
ANSWER: Fossil fuels, nuclear power...
I've heard of "photosynthetic bacteria splitting water into H and O requiring nothing more than sunlight". But that's an untested HYPOTHESIS, we need alternatives NOW.
If we can power our houses without fossil fuels using solar, wind, and nuclear then we can use H2 to store this energy to run our cars. No need for fossil fuels.
Peak oil is crap...There is oil all over the world. It was just reported that there are 1.5 trillion barrels that Shell estimates are trapped in the oil shale deposits of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. On federal lands, Shell has been researching methods to cook oil out of the shale (basically oil-soaked rock) without mining it or polluting groundwater.
Hydrogen can power the world....check out any video on youtube about hydrogen and you will see. The oil companies run around claiming peak oil to scare yoU!
I haven't heard "oil companies" (buzzword) promoting peak oil, I do have heard of an oil company [SAUDI ARAMCO] promoting exactly the OPPOSITE, "reserves for another 150 years." Google: Peak oil theorists challenge Saudi Arabia.
We are facing peak oil and peak dollar, you can't thin out a currency much more and go unnoticed. Peak $ is already here, peak oil will take 20-40 years.
(H) is the least efficient and most expensive replacement for oil.
Trust me guy we made hydrogen in a garage with PVC pipe and made a huge explosion. The president mentioned switch grass and ethenol witch is sort of a joke....ethanol the biggest joke ever. He rarely ever spoke of hydrogen because he knows it's a threat. You can make your car run on hydrogen....check out some youtubes on hyddrogen and you will be shocked. Its so easy.....
No one is denying that you can run your car on hydrogen, of course you can!, the H2 explosion is huge, it's a gas, it's thousands of times more expansive than oil.
You are not listening: the actual problem with H2, is that it takes more energy (from nuclear, fossil fuels, ...) to produce H2 (via electrolysis) than you can take out, it--is--NOT--efficient. Sometime in the future we might get technology to make H2 efficient, using sunlight to split H2 and O... who knows... But now, it is not.
Google: Genepax shows off water-powered fuel cell vehicle. Or browse my uploaded videos: "Water-Fuel Car Unveiled in Japan".
Purportedly, "its membrane electrode assembly contains a material that's capable of breaking down water into hydrogen and oxygen through a chemical reaction."
We'll see, if it's not a hoax, something like that would be revolutionary. Sounds too good to be true.
I haven't removed your posts, I don't do that, anything goes here, there's no censorship in my channel.
If somehow I have deleted what you wrote, I did not notice and I'm -terribly sorry-: yesterday I took off something I had written to correct a sentence, perhaps I took off your post with mine.
Again, if that's what happened, I didn't do it on purpose and -I apologize-. Please do post it again, what did you write?
Actually the guy is right, Hydrogen is not a power source but a storage mechanism. It has a higher energy density though than gasoline. This allows us to use other sources to power our cars, solar, wind and nuclear. It's not possible to power your car on any of these sources without a storage device like hydrogen.
krist300 - energy is a political issue. Between all the oil reserves, nuclear, wind, solar there is plenty of energy. The power brokers want to extort us for as much as possible. I'm completely off grid and laugh at all of this funny talk.

No way wind or solar can completely sustain us at current levels.
Realistically, you're looking at maybe 20% of our current generation that could be provided by existing wind and solar resources.

haha, joke is on you rp4409, when you are paying 6 dollars a gallon in your escalade, and takes 200 dollars to fill it, you will know it is "BS"
