  • This show was based on a 1950 radio show by the same creator "Granby's Green Acres" with Gale Gordon & Bea Benadaret (who played Kate Bradley on Petticoat Junction) Radio shows are available on archive, org

  • I remember this show! :D

  • Family Guy sent me here .

  • pure genious to come up with a classic " chasing the dream " theme amoung a town's morons.

  • steel boned is a moron

  • @LeibBunny Lisa Douglas is one of only a few that shouldn't be in the kitchen.

  • steelboned should be in the kitchen

  • @LeibBunny I can feel the love.

  • I was in Manhattan 33 years. Moved out to the country. Don't miss it at all. Being close to nature is the way to go:" Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside."

  • SQUEEZE SQUEEZE

  • Nice....

  • @322skull absolutely

  • Hooterville is actually in Crawford County Pennsylvania. Don't believe me? Well take a trip there sometime or look at it on Google maps =p.

  • Lyrics: Green acres is the place to be farm living is the life for me land spreaded out so far and wide keep manhatten just gimmie that country side New york is where I'd rather stay I get allergic smelling hay I just adore my pen house view Darling, I love you but give me my avenue The chores! The stores! Fresh air! Town Square! You are my wife. Goodbye city life! Green acres we are there!

  • @WoozenofWoozworld: close, but it's "spreadin': "penthouse" "Park Avenue" and lastly, "Times Square"

  • I wonder if Hooterville has a Wal Mart yet?

  • Mr. Hanie is gonna lead the Bears to Green Acres.

  • @nwfisch uh, no...

  • @themanthelegendjmw uh season ain't over yet brah

  • I used to love this show! I hope it still comes on TV Land.

  • Family Guy

  • ENOUGH ALREADY!! If I read one more message questioning whether or not Green Acres was ever in black and white, I will scream!! I WAS ORIGINALLY FILMED IN COLOR!! BRIGHT, GARISH, VIBRANT COLOR!! NO QUESTION ABOUT IT! If you remember in black and white all that means is that you watched it on a black and white television, period! No mystery there. As for Spanish television in 1968, could be that they lacked the technology to broadcast the show in color back then. Don't know that for sure.

  • This is really weird but I just realized as I'm viewing this video that it is 9 PM on a Wednesday night in 2011 and this show originally ran on CBS on Wednesday nights at 9 PM. As for repelghosts,it wasn't Zsa Zsa but rather Eva Gabor who starred in this series. cmulwee001 you are absolutely right regarding this series being in color during its entire run 1965-1970 on CBS. Never in b/w. However, Lost in Space premiered the same night on CBS and was in black and white for its first season.

  • fuck no, zsa zsa is in cedars sinai...cripes she reduced to a 'head in a jar', man...shes like 100...she'll croak in 2012...Gemma

  • Arnold Ziffel is god!

  • Goodbye City Life!!

  • I Hope They Have A Revived Verison Of This Show

  • This show was so surreal on several levels which made it a great comedy.

  • Does it not phase ANYONE that this is black and white when it NOT supposed to be? Green Acres was neither filmed OR broadcast in b/w at any time during it's six year run. It was in color from the very beginning, so what's up with this? Anyone know. A kinescope perhaps?

  • @cmulwee001 Black and white kinescopes of network TV shows were supplied to Armed Forces Radio & Television for our overseas military during the Vietnam War. These stations did not broadcast in color.

  • thats my consert song!

  • i like they way he talks his wife into leaving.

    "you are my wife"

  • i still know ALL THE WORDS to this! yeaa!

  • No, not Whatthe, Hootha. I'm Harold Hootha with your tomato pickers. Is this the Ofer place?

  • gabor's sister was famous just because her name was zsa zsa....lol.

  • Gabor....The Paris Hilton templet...

  • I loved this show !!! and I still remembered the lyrics ....lol!!!!

  • This song is so annoying... My last name is Akers and I always have teachers singing this...

  • One of the best shows ever from the golden age of TV.

  • My dad showed me this and i love it!

  • i dont care how old this show is

i LOVED watching tis wit my mom

    its funny! :)

i love the wife she tries so hard

  • At 00:40, Eva has the cutest sneeze.

    What a doll !

  • Why oh why does this theme have to be so damn catchy.

  • Check out the hip-hop version of Green Acres..click on my name or type in "Green Acres theme song meets hip-hop"

    /watch?v=kTqatnCRLgk

  • I think 13 people are in Times Square right now ; )

  • No racism, just like the old shows better than the reality crap on TV now..Stop looking for racism where it does not exist...

  • Eva's my favorite Gabor!!

  • Eva was talented and beautiful. She made Zsa Zsa look like a wet dog.

  • This is one of the greatest shows ever. The crap that's on now doesn't come close to the comedy, acting, wit and surrealism of this great show. 60s television was the best.

  • There's a lot of hidden racism in these comments. So you like the way TV was 40 years ago when the casts were all white and the plots were white-washed? That's not how life was in the 60s.

  • I was sent here looking for "greensleeves" and instead, I typed "Green acres" lol. Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy bad

  • Lisa Douglas a.k.a., Eva Gabor... her art was turning the absurd into reality and she did it with class, full make-up, perfect hair, and wearing jewels that you know each had to cost more Oliver paid Mr Haney for the entire farm. I always got a kick out of Lisa asking Oliver who the people in the credits were that were scrolling up the tv screen that everyone in Hooter(s)ville and at home watching could see but Oliver could not. "Yankee Doodle..."

  • We used to watch this on Saturday nights right after "Jeannie" and we LOVED Lisa's little dog, 'mignon', but hated the Ziffle's for some odd reason. Mr. Haney was the original scam king but that TRACTOR was the start of the show. Good guest stars back in the day on these old sitcoms.

  • good show

  • Outer space is the place to be. Astro living is the life for me.

  • Loved the show so much that I named my pig Arnold

  • It's not goofy, it's surreal!

  • Green acres was a bitchin show.

  • Hey supermandisco - the same goes for me! LOL If I get to Hell first, I'll save you a seat at the bar.

  • I used to watch this everyday, good memories :D

  • The best part of GA was Eddie Albert's exasperation. And he was ALWAYS exasperated! We loved all the characters but especially Mr Kimball!

  • i love this theme song when i kid 1960s and now still i love this theme song 2011

  • Newwwww York is where i'd rather stay!

    I get allergic smelling hay!

I just adore a penthouse view!

Dah'ling I love you but give me Park Avenue!

  • bec noir must've upgraded this show and turned its jokes into highly powerful joke blasts.

  • "Squeeze Squeeze" -Family Guy-

  • @JinjOMania lol that was just on but i bet you saw it

  • squeeze squeeze

  • Jon Knight.....thumbs up!

  • thumbs up if jon knight twitter link sent you here

  • Jon Knight sent me here :)

  • Just wanted to let you know Jon from New Kids On The Block just tweeted this video!

  • "Green Acres" was surreal and VERY funny.

  • i love this theme song when i was kid 1960s and now 2011 i love this theme song

  • You can't top these old tv shows. They actually made you laugh, and most of these modern shows are total trash.

  • is he humping the tractor?

  • That's pretty messed up and selfish for the character played by Mr. Albert to drag his wife out of the place she loves to some farm.

  • @3rkid2= They had an agreement. She would try it out for 6 months. If she still hated it, then they would move back to New York. For some reason, she decided to stay in Hooterville after the 6 months. Funny thing is, she fitted in more than Oliver.

  • @vigo894

Oh, okay. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • Zza Zza was a dog compared to Eva.

  • I moved out to a place in the country almost like Green Acres! I can walk to the nearest village (It only has a general store, church, school and a volunteer fire department) but because of the distance have to drive to the village the county claims I actually live in. I have a telephone number from another village and pay my taxes to yet a fourth! At least I don't have to climb a pole to make a telephone call!

  • Cable really hurt network tv. Before the late 80's the networks had money to spend on all sorts of programs. The commercials that we all hate paid for these wonderful gems. Comedy, varity, drama, were available on three channels and I wanted to watch it all. Almost every program on any network was worth watching. Now I have 200 channels of bullshit and here I am on the computor looking back. 'Green acres is the place to ..'

  • hehehehehe...hehe..hehehehehe...hehe..hehehehehe...hehehehehe...hehe....hehehehehe...hehe..squeeze squeeze

  • lol how da fuck did i get here from family guy?!?!

  • awesome

  • BTW, I now live in a small town in Western KY. Took me almost a lifetime to get here, but I made it!

  • Funny, how I so identified with Oliver Douglas. I always wanted to live in the country. I recall getting up early in the mornings (this was in the 1950s) and watching shows like the American Farmer. I grew up in NYC, HATED it. Sure the cultural aspects were great, but, all in all, Keep Manhattan and give me that countryside...indeed!

  • Such a silly dress code for farm work.

  • YAY!

  • One of the best tv theme songs (& series) of all time--my personal favorite! I alot of critics hated this series, thinking it pure 'corn pone'--but it actually has a lot of dry humor sprinkled over the hayseed. There is SO much absurdist behavior in this series that Beckett would've approved. It's interesting that Mr. Douglas is the only sane person in the bunch--much of the humor derives from his being appalled at his neighbors--and wife's--thinking. The inmates are running the asylum!!

  • My parents are much older than your average parents, so I had the privilege of watching ALL the classics. In a way, I feel like I'm more in tune with my elders than I am with people my own age... FORTUNATELY! lol! My generation is a bunch of morons and retards!

  • @DeSilverware Ya think?

  • wow, black and white... looks peaceful..

  • I remember watching this when I was 13 years old and in Junior High School.

  • man am i old.

  • Sang the theme song to my daughter and she looks at me blankly. Suddenly felt very much like in a time warp so sharing this clip on Face Book. Loved this show as a kid and still as an adult.

  • always cracked me up when he had to use the telephone on top of the outdoor pole

  • Family Guy brought me here. lol ; when Peter and Lois swapped bodies.

  • Ya' know,, Eddie Albert, really is a pretty good singer!

  • @TheCrimsonsGhosts , he was a great singer. I guess his singing career got overshadowed by his TV career. Check this out: /watch?v=ONNc7eELiHE&feature=related

  • @Beejjjjjj Wow! Thanks. He's amazing.

  • @TheCrimsonsGhosts , and check this out. Internet Movie Database says this: "Eddie Albert was a circus trapeze flier before becoming a stage and radio actor." How amazing is THAT?!

  • @Beejjjjjj He's becoming more amazing every moment! I've always liked him, but Now I think he was even more great than I ever knew!

  • Squeeze! Squeeze!

  • one of the best

  • i would die if i had to move from new york to a farm in the middle of nowhere

  • Oh lordy, I just moved from Seattle to northern California, and I'm REALLY in green acres~lol

  • A natural environment is where i would rather be preferably the jungle but i would take the country over the city any time.Got to get the money to vamp this artificial camp although i've been raised with no experience of jungle life i'm highly adaptable. The one thing that I hate about the concrete jungles is the fact that most deaths are connected to a long period of suffering.

  • I remember I stayed home sick a few years ago and randomly decided to turn on TV land. This theme song started playing and I thought to myself "What the hell is this?" A few episodes later, I was hooked on the show and singing along with this theme.

  • i love it

  • Sam,C'mon let's move to the country. You don't like city life.

  • Absolutely love all the old TV shows! I'm 26 and am absolutely addicted to Green Acres, Gilligans Island and all the oldies. Pretty sure I was born in the wrong era... Modern TV sucks!! xx

  • Mary Grace Canfield, Sid Melton, Frank Cady, Tom Larsen are still with us.

  • green acers is the place i want to be no really i do.

  • I still love this show.

    Thanks.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Boy how I loved this show!! RIP Eddie, Eva, Hank, Alvy, Barbra, Pat and Arnold!!

  • @cleancab Eb is the only cast member left. God Bless this great show!

  • too bad we still don't have GOOD TV like this, the "Beverly Hillbillies", and other 'hick' shows!

  • Awesome ! Wonderful that you managed to save and distribute a record of it. I've posted it on my FB for my farmlet. Thanks !

  • 1:06 video: black and white; 1966 Green Acres show opening theme song.

Edward Albert (April 22, 1906 – May 26, 2005) starred as Oliver Wendell Douglas in the 1960s television situation comedy Green Acres.

  • it was color rendered so now its color but then no color tv

  • @XBOXY22 Absolutely not originally in black and white. Green Acres was in color from the very beginning. Wasn't colorized years later like many shows were. Besides all three television networks (ABC CBS NBC) went full color in primetime in September 1966, which would have been the start of Green Acres' second season.

  • WHY IS THIS IN BLACK AND WHITE

  • I remember watching it when I was a kid. It arrived in France in something like 1978!!! I loved it.

  • 0:57 argument OVER.

  • I love Green Acres! And I'm a tennager! Much better then that reality crap like Jersey Shore and stuff. >.>

  • @rachelc7878

    Agree 10,000%

  • @rachelc7878 If only there were more like you. It was a very funny show. Try "Get Smart" also. You should enjoy that one as well.

  • @rachelc7878 well honey anything is better than Jersey Shore

  • @rachelc7878 I don't understand the influx of "Reality Shows"...whatever....get some folks with creative imaginations & give me a sitcom any day!! (and for the record..I'm 45..thought American Idol was great when it started 10 years ago, but now...tv is just stuck in 'reality tv' muck...just sick of it, I tell ya..sick of it!

  • @MusicPheend The networks need to dump the reality TV shows and bring back more good comedies like Green Acres,Petticoat Junction and more

  • @quarqill And Gilligans Island, The Munsters, Addams Family...

  • @quarqill what the--------who the---------for the love of-------------- hahahaha---you are so right, i have been saying that for years now

  • @rachelc7878

Another comment about how terrible reality shows are! Some things are about as predictable as death and taxes!

  • @rachelc7878 yep yep yep!!! i <3 it too. it came on in my teens i think... i mean the color version. few yrs ago or somethin....

  • Cutting edge comedy for its time. Surreal and wacky!

  • THAT WAS A GREAT FUNNY SHOW

TO WATCH I LOVE THAT SHOW

    DO: A WEB SEARCH ON.

    charles h. miranda ===== OR.

    charlesthepoet2003 THANKS.

  • I love it. I watched reruns when I was a kid in the 70s.

  • I'd kill myself if I were that chick..

  • Darling I love you but give me Park Avenue :D

  • This song just popped into my mind out nowhere and I had to play it for someone who's never hear it before. Thanks blondegirl!! :)

  • He's mowing and forking hay because he's citified. You must've missed him steering a horsedrawn plow in Italian leather shoes too

  • why is he mowing in a suit?????

  • @emiroxs17 i don't know that's weird :)

  • God forgive me, but I know this better than any catholic hymn.

  • @supermandisco this is a catholic hymn!!!

  • @ohiosouthpaw I guess if you were born in the sticks.

  • @supermandisco This IS a Catholic hymn.

  • it is in black and white....?!?!?

  • @TheJimzo lol kids ....guess you didn't realize Color TV didn't really come out until the 70s

  • @avengedsevenfold979 no, it was the 90s.

  • @rofflemows2 still all the same ... it didn't become huge in homes untill late 80s early 90s bc i was born in 91 and i remember home videos from b4 my 2nd birthday of the tv in the background being color

  • @avengedsevenfold979 hmm well now its in colour! i must say the set looks nicer in black and white, the colour version everything looks horriblely put together

  • @avengedsevenfold979 I always thought that colour tv came out in the 1960's. Gilligan's Island was in colour from the second season, and had Dick Van Dyke gone one more season, it, too, would have been in colour. True, there were more TV shows in colour in the 1970's.

@monkeeman1966, I, too, loved the playing around with the credcits. I remember one episode when Oliver asked Lisa when something happened, and she said, "Right after the 'Written by's'!" It cracked me up!!

  • @avengedsevenfold979 Correction! All three television networks at the time, ABC, CBS, and NBC went full color for primetime in September of 1966. Well before the 1970's. Watch any show from this time period and you'll see I'm right: Mission Impossible, Star Trek, Green Acres, Time Tunnel, Lost in Space, Beverly Hillbillies, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, That Girl, Batman, etc. All of them, in color from 1966 on and some of these even before 1966!

  • Patriarchal bastard!

  • this show was made 15 years before me. yet i loved it.

  • I get allergic smelling hay....heee,great stuff.

  • The best show ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hell yeah, the woman follows de man!

  • Oh look ohlivah, a schoosting stah !

  • forking hay in a three piece suit....

Only a New Yorker or a Californian.

  • New York is where I'd rather stay

    I get allergic smelling hay

I just adore my 6th floor view

Charleston I love you but give me 8th avenue!

  • OMG it's the girl cat from disney arisocat XD

  • God I humm this song all the time without even relizeaing it

  • The woman sounds like Obelina from Ah! Real Monsters.

  • i live in green acrs lol!

  • RIP

  • This show was great! I loved it!

Well.. Not really great, more of a good show.

Well.. Not really good, more of an okay show.

Well... Not really okay.. Infact it was horrible. I didn't like it at all.

  • @FederalPolice620

But, wait, you feel you're losing us. Let's go to Steve Martin's Mark Twain Award.

  • This is my life!!

  • In many ways TV got better over time, but some of the classics have never been improved upon and never should be. Green Acres is one of those.

  • @Tigermoon1950 Just as we get the leaders we deserve, we also get the TV shows we deserve. For me, TV IS my leader. Tori and Dean Cleanse Their House Of Bad Spirits.
