It brings back memories to listen to this. At the time the United States was increasingly involved in Vietnam. The Cold War chilled us with the threat of Mutually Assured Destruction. I was a young man in high school soon to be picked #3 in the first draft lottery. War never brings final Peace. That come through faith in a Much Higher Power.
I Love this song. My husband plays an online virtual Warplane game and i picked on him and asked if he has seen Snoopy flying on his doghouse going by. lol. Happy Holidays Everyone!!!
This song is such a classic !! I remember this from when I was young and everytime I hear it,it reminds me of happy times and Christmas with my brothers and sisters when we were all together.

I LOVE THIS SONG IT'S MY FAVOURITE CAROL !!! I remember watching them perform this song at the Auckland Carol's in the Park performance with my twin sister numerous years when we were little. :D
Best christmas song ever. Tells a tale of the struggle of a brotherhood fighting in the cold, bloody war, and Snoopy swinging above to knock out the enemy. Little did Snoopy know, there were no enemies. It was a peaceful night.
Hello RG Fans! Thought you might want to know the band has a new tell-all documentary coming out next Saturday, October 8. It's called "Burned By A Beagle - The True Story Of The Royal Guardsmen." They also have a brand new song, "Alive and Well" and there's a video of it here on Youtube. Just do a search for "The Royal Guardsmen 9-11 Recovery Song."
Peace on Earth! Fighting is sometimes neccesary to gain peace, but WWI was pointless. Good to remember the Truce of 1914, when the guns fell silent...
But we must remember that unsolved problems in WWI brought on WWII which was a far worse conflict! The people who fought in this war were nowhere near as gentlemenly as Snoopy or the Red Baron!
@GEL0128 It's some sort of gliltch. If you favourite the video, you can then play it on your page, and share it to Facebook from there. It's kind of a hassle, but it works.
@KRISSYK767 sorta they came out with a song before this called snoopy vs. The red baron, but it wasnt a christmas song. this is a christmas version called Snoopy's Christmas
@berrygirl1964 - Hello. How uplifting to find your unselfish Christmas wish. I feel the same. I've even told my husband and teen children not to "buy" me anything, but only join with me in working for Peace; a task which takes many forms. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU BERRYGIRL1964 - Your presence on this war weary planet is a BLESSING. Peace On Earth to ALL!
@GonzoGuyy I heard the other version today on the radio, there is cadence counting in german in the original version and its longer and much better but I cant find it on youtube...
Ur story is some what correct. On December 25,1913 i beleve german and british soliders left their trenchs and met on the battlefeild against orders.During the meeting they basicly had a christmas party and peace remained dominant untill the comanding officers had shown up (both sides) and ordered their men back to their trenchs and the peace lasted for 3 strait days ( December 24,25,and 26)
@killingjoy100 - Your story is basically correct, also. Apparently, there was more than one spontaneous peace incident along the Western Front. I also recall reading about one that occurred during daylight hours on the 25th. My particular one began at midnight on Christmas Eve with German singing. The German command had ordered candle lit trees to lift morale in the trenches, and when "the other side" joined the song, a tree bearing German soldier ventured out and it went from there. Peace.
I remember this song from the Christmas of 1967 and forward. It brings Back Great Memories with the whole family, both sides, in one place. Great Job!!
This song always takes me back to my childhood. I can still hear my brother singing this at the top of his lungs! Great memories. Merry Christmas to all. May there someday be peace.
The Royal Guardsmen are set to release their first ever LIVE CD in December, "Beaglemania!" There's a sneak peek on their website of "Biplane Evermore," one of the songs they recorded for the album. "Snoopy's Christmas" will be on the project too. Check it out!
INDEED!!!!!! LONG LIVE SNOOPY AND WE WILL ALL HANG ON FOR THE BETTER WORLD OF FREEDOM IN THE SKIES AND AIRPORTS, AND LANDS OF ALL PEOPLE,WHAT EVER TIME OR CELEBRATION;-)
I LOVE this song!! It makes me sad when they stop playing Christmas music on the radio at like noon on the 25th. Songs like this are the best part of the season.
Oh just so everyone knows, I'm 19 (almost 20), and I still truly, honestly, deep down in my heart believe in Santa. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
@BrenMcCloud I'm 44 and know there is at least the spirit of Santa out there. I try to keep Christmas all the year, just sometimes A lot of people make it hard.
@BrenMcCloud - you are sooo right. It never made sense to me that Christmas songs stop at Noon (?!) on Christmas - what about the Rest of Christmas Day? We play soothing, uplifting Christmas music ALL day. I have a 19 year old & she appreciates songs like this as well. BEST WISHES AND PEACE TO YOU ALWAYS.
mjcamck71, Something similar happened at Christmas in the middle of the American Civil War. Troops from the Union and the Confederacy both put aside the war just to have a jolly and happy Christmas. I pray every night for eternal worldwide peace.
@TheWiseTyronian - Thank you for pointing this out. Every instance of human beings who are supposed to be killing each other refusing to do so even if only for one day is heartening. I'll research this uplifting incident a bit. PEACE AND BEST WISHES TO YOU ALWAYS!
I'm so stoked at finding this - thanks!! We used to always listen to it on Christmas Day - an integral part of the day's festivities. Had it as a single on vinyl back then- so haven't listened to it since we got rid of the old turntable (yikes). It's going to make a big return this year :)
I remember coming home as a kid from my Aunts house on Christmas Eve around 1973ish...This song came on the old 3 inch speaker on our AM only car radio and the whole family just started singing the song out loud...Thanks for the memory.
Indeed, the song is based on an event on Christmas Eve, 1914 ( WWI) when German troops, "armed" only with Christmas trees ventured out of their fox holes offering to share a Christmas celebration with the "enemy." Soldiers on both sides slowly appeared on the field, shook hands, shared drinks, even played soccer. So often, only the "leaders" want to fight. Individuals do not. It was a bright moment of Real Peace this weary world could use more of. Let's All Keep Praying For PEACE ON EARTH!
@rickheft - Hello. The Christmas Truce of 1914 was, as you know, not a formal agreement between leaders. It was a spontaneous event. Apparently, there were several instances along the Western Front. According to the History Channel, one started when a German soldier carried his small lit (candles) tree across the field. In one account, when he was not stopped, others followed. Have you some additional information? I'd be interested. I love this story. Peace and Merry Christmas.
@highasakiteindasky - Yes. We had an expression in the 60's that went "what if they gave a war, and nobody came?" That sort of happened here. Peace and Merry Christmas.
@Wapow27 - Hello. Yes, but not everyone everywhere. The especially amazing aspect of The Christmas Truce of 1914 is that these spontaneous laying down of arms & fraternizing appeared in various places along the battle lines. Some officers took part, others didn't. In some . . . some places after being ordered to start shooting again, some soldiers did but deliberately fired too high to hit anyone. Let us celebrate the HOPE this event illustrates for PEACE ON EARTH.
@mjcamck71 That's a lovely thought but don't bet on it. There will never be Peace on Earth. Since the horrible tragedy of September 11, 2001, the state of the world is becoming worse and worse and a nuclear apocalypse by rogue states like North Korea are becoming more likely. Believing in Peace on Earth is futile, all we can do is hope and pray for peace.
@67nairb - Hello. Gently, I shall disagree that there will "never" be Peace. There's always hope. The underlying causes of war are basically the same; people suffering (physically, spiritually, emotionally) & attributing their pain, rightly or wrongly, to another group of people whose destruction or subjugation they believe will relieve that pain. I've donated time for 30 years to ending hunger & injustice. That's how we end war. Just my 2 cents. PEACE & MERRY CHRISTMAS.
@mjcamck71 PEACE & MERRY CHRISTMAS to you too. But isn't it strange that that there is such a great interest and fascination on the history of war and countless books written about that subject? If for one am very fascinated in war, especially in World Wars I and II.
@mjcamck71 man you are so right why cant we get along why cant we love each other just l;ike christmas all year round but any way ,erry christ mas yall
@adamarbabi2 - yes, indeed, why can't we all? At least some of us treat each other with respect. Thank you for the reply. Merry Christmas & Peace On Earth!
This is my favorite Christmas song. It is so catchy and cute. I was working in a shoe store when I was a senior in high school and hearing this on the radio all of the time in 1967 during the Christmas season. Just great and thanks to soccerjettgirl for posting this.

Let's All Keep Praying For PEACE ON EARTH!

are you sure of the fact's?

@mjcamck71 And then when the leaders found out the soldiers were executed!

Merry Christmas!

This is my favorite Christmas song. It is so catchy and cute. I was working in a shoe store when I was a senior in high school and hearing this on the radio all of the time in 1967 during the Christmas season. Just great and thanks to soccerjettgirl for posting this.
