Maybe so, but the artist gets a lump sum for the album initially, and then if it sells well they'll be asked for more and such. I don't know the exact workings, but I know that it DOES benefit the artist to buy their cds, even if it isn't just in terms of money.

Its all about contracts and who owns the rights to the songs, which is why its not always the best thing to be signed, and its best to go independent, because a lot of major labels will write in the contracts for you to sign away the rights to your songs, meaning you dont own them anymore the label does.

I think you should make an album (12 originals? sounds like an album to me), as I would buy it - maybe not at £10, but then, I rarely pay for my music these days anyway.
