  • that mustang is awsome! i want one so badly

  • Dude dont look at the camera ugly bitch, brush your teeth too bitch

  • Dude bullshit the seats are the same you cock eye bitch

  • @sulmah seats are from gt500 ...

  • stick with the 03-04 Cobras? The GT 500's supercharger weigh it down? Have you ever driven an 07-09 GT 500. I'm pretty sure you haven't because if you did you would not have said that dumb shit.

  • 1968*

  • LOL "you could definitely stick with the old 03, 04 cobras in a straight line"... LOL

  • Guys like this shouldn't have these cars...Embarassing, "hurst transmission." Lol. They swap in a whole diff tranny huh? "If it had an extra 200hp..Supercharge it or shut up rofl. Bullits always have and will be modified GT's, diff throttlebody and CAI, with exhaust.. Worth the extra cash to says its limited, no sir.. Btw learn to drive..

  • dude your an idiot

  • been in one my friend has 1 of them

  • Have one. Great car. Park it if it snows, though.

  • WOW a Hurst transmission, I will have to get one of them:-)

  • HIV head lights haha

  • I know the stock specs say 265hp and 305 ft/lb's. But the ECM holds a great deal back when they ship to ensure the longevity of the motor. Just installing a new prog, full cold air system, and good exhaust, plus eliminating the cats can give nearly 70 more horses. Swap cams and you're getting over 350. The heads that came on the 2001 Bullitt were the PI heads and actually could handle a bit more cam nicely. Sad thing is, the new 3valve heads use a cam advance system, makes swapping cams a bitch.

  • First, the 2001 Bullitt had a better chassis than the 2008. (better upper and Lower control arms, coils and shocks, sub-frame connectors, strut-tower braces, sway bars, etc.) and it had 13" Twin Piston Brembo Brakes. I owned one, and it handled better than any Cobra I've ever driven. Second, it had a hybrid intake similar to the 99-01 N/A Cobra intakes, with a twin 57mm TB and underdrive pullies. I added a Diablo Programmer, Bissani X-Pipe (no cats), 3" Flows. Dyno sheet said 357hp at the wheels

  • @3vilg3nius1nc I call bullshit on that one you need a supercharger to make that power on a 2v 4.6

  • Great Car!!!

  • That sounds like a very nice car.

  • Dork!

  • The GT500 does not make 500BHP it makes 447HP

  • @Akyuz1000 LOL... My 08 Bullitt with a Kenne Bell 2.6 makes 560 BHP!

  • don't want to sound like a broken record, but in the description you say it has 515 HP, but it actually has 315 (15 over stock). That can go up if you run it on premium to about 330 HP. But get your facts straight if you want anybody to listen to you.

  • @EnterMyUserNameHere Dumbass he was talking about the GT500 at the time.

  • dude as you can probably tell by now the mustangs that followed it were better and be ready for the boss 302 with 440 hp.

  • mazdaspeed 6 ftw

  • lol its a nice car and its fast and everything, but i disagree with one statement u said. u said if u gave the bullitt 500 hp, it would womp the vette z06. im sorry but there is no way in hell, it would even compete. the z06 has a shorter wheelbase, sportier suspension, better engine than the shellby gt500 in general, and its exxtremely lighter. im sorry, but this car is a beauty

  • My lifted 78 chevy k10 with a 434 stroker would eat the fuck out of that mustang and it weighs 8,000 pounds and rides on 38's

  • The diffrinces you speek of ... rear spoiler, short shift, the 2001 lacked and had... The ma chined dash is a engine turned dash...and the stainless shifter is polishished aluminium... please for the love of god ...get you're fact's strait, or McQueene will haunt you. If you don't know what your talking about ... then Shut The Fuck Up! If you want truth and facts , ask some one who know's. ... A Bullit fan you are not!

  • what do you mean you can feel the rear end come right in line with you?

  • you cant get a hurst? please can you remove this, or redo the review, you just seem to be making up a lot of the facts as you go

  • You are definitely a DOUCHE BAG!!!! You wouldn't know a would a good car if it drove over your STUPID-ASS!!!

  • @dimka911 ur a ifool

  • i have one...it is a badass motherfucker...enough said :)

  • I enjoyed this review. Thank you Josh.

  • "Aww, I missed third gear." Lol

Definitely a sick car though, I'm buying one on thursday. I can't wait!

  • my 2010 mustang has the same freakin seats same same every thing that is related to the engine but not the 3.73 gears because i orded it this way ...

i know lame talking about it

  • me and my dad test drove dhg one i want one badly really better than a gt especially mine i miss a stock clutch got a spec stage 2 in my 99

  • thumb pads make it go faster lmao

he would be a better salesman for a women he's really only talking about the body and the prettyness of it

  • why didnt you show the exterior?

  • the 2001 Bullitt had a lot of differencesto a standard GT-I am not sure what this guy is talking about as far as hardly any differences. Not only does he not know much about the Mustangs, he can not shift either!

  • This is one of the best if not the best review I have seen about a mustang I have a regular gt 2006 but that bullitt is at another level compared to a regular gt

  • nice vid thanks

  • how did this retard get a driver's license?

  • Variant The Bullit is a Variant of a Ordinary Mustang just like the Mach1 and the Boss it still a Mustang dude just different image.

  • he said it wouldnt dude. of course it wouldnt.

  • You should have studied up on the car before making a video review of it as many of your facts are wrong. An 04 Cobra puts out 390HP, 08 Bullitt puts out 315HP. Not having your facts straight and trying to present them in a confident way looks silly.

  • Wow some of you need to do your research on the Bullitt including the idiot in this video... I could take an hour to list everything different about this car you would realize the extra 3k it is over a GT is a good deal and by no means a ripoff. I have one check my vid.

  • You are a jackass. the 01 bullit had way more chages. It had a bullit specific intake manifold, not some cheazy cold ait kit add on. It had and 11 in clutch, bigger brakes, stiffer spring with loewr ride hight, 355 gears as ti 327 fifferant interior, and gauge cluster. Anyway you are a fag who cant get pussy Learn your shit before you open you mouth.

  • This fuckin doek is a pussy. Its an overated pile of shit

  • line your pieace of shit kia next to my bullitt see what happens

  • The Bullitt with 515hp would not "whomp" on a Z06, but it would do more damage than a GT500 ever would stock

    hahaha, what?

  • hahaha, hold with a cobra? im a mustang guy, but this dude makes it seem like a GREAT car. personally, i dont like it, being about 10k more i thought they would add more than 15 hp, and not take off the fog lights. just not enough to make me pay 10k more.

  • This guy stutters way too much and looks like a fugin goofball. Also, what the FUCK is with all these poser auto-reviewers popping up all over youtube. Fucking gay man, go back to programming computers.

  • Yeah he stutters like a goofball but looks like a plain goof with those glasses. The first thing i'd ask him in prison is if he's a goof.

  • Well, that's the difference - people like him drive great cars, people like you are in prison ...

  • Why the hell do you waste your money on a bullitt? Unless your a collector, you can buy a GT and put a 4:10 or 3:73 rear end your self in for $200. Cold air intake & exhaust $300...

  • Another heads up this car will not stick with a 03-04 Cobra in a straight line it gets walked on hard, 0-130mph the Cobra walks away big time, its no contest.

  • yeah unless you do a lot of work to this motor, with a couple of grand you can get the naturally aspirated 4.6l 3v to get close to 380-400hp.

  • I thought about doing the v-6 and putting on a supercharger (its about 8 grand not 5), but then Ford had super savings on GTs around Christmas and I got a very well equipped new GT for $19,400 plus tax and license (after rebates). I can put in cold air induction, tighten the suspension and put in a supercharger and pretty much have as much HP as I want depending on how steetable I want it (I think 500-550 is plenty) for another 8 grand. Check out my videos and see both cars.

  • but the BULLIT Mustang also was pretty close to a ten grand option pay extra ten grand for something granted its a collector and not want to touch it OOORRRR by a regular GT spend 10 grand and get sweet ass car and i LOOVE how he was saying man shorter gears!!! short throw cost like 200 bucks

  • Actually the 08/09 Bullitt is only about $4k more than a premium Mustang GT. To make a regular delux Mustang GT better than a Bullitt would involve much more than that. A premium wouldn't be as much but still much more than you'd pay buying a new Bullitt.

  • way to be talking out of your ass the whole video

  • I agree, this guy is a little out of touch with reality at some points....

  • I owned a Modded out 07 Mustang GT automatic. It was VERY fast. The only problem was that I should have gotten a stick. So after a year of regret I decided to go out and trade in my automatic Stang for a Black manual Mustang. I drove about 10 2008 Mustang GT's + 1 Black bullitt. Without a doubt , there is a huge difference between the Mustang GT and the Bullitt.

My Bullitt isn't as fast as the modded Mustang out their, but it is very drivable!

  • Are they realling making a new SVT that would be bad ass

  • i doubt for 5k u could procharge a v6 and do suspension mods. the procharger would run 2k+ then u gotta beef up the internals for the excess internal pressure so tack on another grand then u definitely gotta get rims and tires to support the torque on launch and cornering and tires would easily run over a grand, then change the differential for better gearing, and then exhaust etc.

  • uhh can you do the math, mustang gt costs about 30k, buy a mustang v6 for about 14. Buy a procharger, headers, exhaust, intake, and a new remapping and you'll be between 350 and 400hp. Make some suspension mods, new tires, short shifter and you'll still be well under 30k and it will handle much better.

  • I'd look for a used gt500. I got mine for 33K with 2.65" sc pulley, JLT cai, and tune already installed. 524rwhp on a safe 91octane tune.

  • If you want a fast car get a 03-04 svt cobra. Those things whine and they are fuking fast.

  • even though it really handles like shit

  • You know what? People from German magazine have tested the Mustang and the man testing it said (he is driving Audis, BMW and Mercedes all the time) that Mustang handles very good, so ?

Maybe you are angry because your 1.3 Civic is a lot slower :-)) Haha

I live in Europe in those small streets , had a Mustang , Toyota, some european Fords, Vw and some other - and Mustang handled very well , so WTF R U talking about ???

  • the only advice i have for ford is to quit making so many different variations of the mustang though mach1, gt, bullitt, and cobras? and ford should definitely do away with the v-6 pusstangs.

  • Apparently, you don't realize that v6 Mustangs account for 2/3rds of all Mustang sales. Without those, Ford would loose even more money. And each special edition appeals to a slightly different crowd. Each is a different interpretation of what performance should be.

  • you can be a v6 for 15k and procharge it and make some suspension modifications and for still 5k less than a v8gt and it's much more capable on a track.

  • this isnt need for speed, in real life u cant just throw in some boost and everything like a charm. it would take alot more than 5k for a v6 to keep up with a gt.

  • i love it how ford makes different models , not everyone likes the same thing so there are many options to suit the driver .

  • i love the bullitt mustangs and great review man! there reall are some idiots out there. i love the smaller grill on the 2010's but my fav mustang is still the last gens. mach 1 with the huge shaker hood. is ford planning on making another mach1 anytime soon?

  • id get black and then tint the windows hella and it would be so sick

  • Yeah....Tell em not to F-up the Raptor. And ask if "SVT" is really returning, or if its bullshit.

  • No, tard. My brother actually works for Saleen in Troy & was with SVT under Coletti. Saleen already has thier 2010 done. Watch for the surprise motor in 2011, that's all I can say. Douche.

  • I must say, that's very cool. It's no surprise about the motor. I've already been talking to the SVT guys about it, a little bit. I'll be with them in LA. Anything you wish for me to tell them?

  • @VenomousCobraR well saleen is going bankrupt again

  • @VenomousCobraR <- did anyone realize that guy was right about the 2011 surprise motor in his comment from 2 years ago? he wasn't lying lol

  • By Ford badge, I mean a blue oval, like everyone else does. The faux fuel door is part of the car's styling.

And I don't even wanna start on the 2010 which you know nothing about.

    Tard.

  • I know tons about the 2010 model. I'll be playing with it next week out in LA. Would you like me to bring you back some video and pictures? And, when I say Ford badge, I mean anything that says the words Ford on a badge type object anywhere on the car. What do you know about the 2010 Mustang? Did you see the pictures and think that you know all about it?

  • You make the 01' Bullitt sound like a few pretty add-ons when it too has suspension, handling, performance, and interior upgrades. Where is this Hurst transmission option you speak of??? None of the S-197 mustangs have Ford badges, you tard. McQueen drove a 68', not a 69'. You missed 3rd gear. The throw is same as a GT. Driving around w/ 7mi to Empty. A supercharger weighs down a 500hp GT500??? You kidding me? I bet you driving w/ the MAX AIR on like you were slows the car more. Douche.

  • All Mustangs have a Ford badge. Have you looked on your trunk? I forgot the Bullitt had it too. The 01 Bullitt is more like a GT than this Bullitt. The 08/09 Bullitt has a chassis and suspension system that is very similar to the one that will come on the 2010 Mustang. You're right, McQueen did drive a 68, not a 69. Read the info of the video, you will see I corrected myself.

  • The engine is rather heavy in the GT500. It's a weighty car all together. Let me ask you a question; What should a 500hp car be doing at the track? A lot faster than a GT500 is. The GT500 is a joke. I'd rather have your GT/CS. Oh, wait, everyone has one of those. I'll stick with my Bullitt of only 7000 U.S. models were made.

  • This guy is a tard.

  • How so?

  • haha mustangs dont handle they are boats using prehistoric suspension gotta love the look and sound though thats about all they are good for

  • this car is the shit for my first car i think im gunna keep this car for the rest of my life hahaha

  • shelby hertz is a little better but the bullet is cool!!!!!!

  • Awesome car! Was at ford and sat in one! (of course i dont have my permit yet) And now i want one really bad!

  • you said there was nothing to different from the first bullitt and GT. the bullitt had a different intake manifold to give it 275 horses compared to the gt's 260. thats 15 horses, the same difference between the newer mustang.

  • I meant more along the lines that it wasn't as individualized as this one is. Also, the seats were not much different from a regular GT. There were still GT badges on it, stuff like that. This one has no ties to a GT... It also has a much better sounding exhaust and much, much better transmission.

  • th gt mustang only has 300hp the bullit has 315hp why the fuck would u say it has 515hp

and the 1968 bullit had NO crome or trim al all it was bare bones with a big engine

  • I didn't say that the car had 515hp. I said if it did, it would be way better then the GT500. Even with 315hp (downrated from the factory. It's actually about 330hp) it's way better than the GT500.

Where do you see chrome? And, plus, you never saw the interior of the 68 Fastback in the movie. So how would you know?

  • i said there was no crome

  • Yeah... Your point being? There isn't any chrome on this car.

  • I'll bet the difference from one car to another will be more than the difference of having cold air induction or not. BTW you can still pick up new Bullits here in Los Angeles way discounted (even a GT500 for under 40 grand new).

  • ive sat in on in a ford dealership, and its comfortable

  • lol he tihnks the mustang handles good

  • Actually, it handles great! I've never driven a Mustang that really handled that well. At least, stock from the factory. I drove it on Ford's test tracks up in Dearborn a few weeks ago alongside the 45th Ann. GT. And you can feel a worlds worth of difference. I urge you to drive it. It really is good. Around the track it inspires confidence. Now, don't get me wrong, it's no BMW, but it's damn good for an American sports car.

  • wow u r the stupidest person on earth "this is not at all like a regular mustang"

  • What's your point? What are you referring to?

  • im referring to how you said its not at all like a regular mustang its the same regular mustang with a few apperance mods and exhaust and cai its its nearly the same as a regular mustang

  • I've owned an '06 Mustang GT for two and a half years. I test drove one of these and was throwing it into corners harder after two miles than I could after over 20,000 in my GT. The 3.73's are very noticeable on launch, and the shifter is "like butter." If you look only at a spec' sheet, this car is no big deal. But the Bullitt really is more than the sum of its improvements. I looked at this car only because I am such a fan of the movie, but now am thinking of buying. It's that good.

  • I'm so glad that you went and drove it. Once you drive it you understand it. Go buy it!!! I bought the exact one that I test drove for this video.

  • this guy is a retard, can not get a thing right. it is almost exactly the same as the GT.

  • How can I not get a thing right? It is nothing like the GT... It has a higher final drive ratio, different exhaust, better suspension setup, different interior, GT500 seats, cold air intake, strut tower brace under the hood, different wheels, smoother and shorter shifting transmission... Did I miss anything? Have you driven a GT, have you driven and LSD equipped GT? Have you driven the Bullitt? I would love to see your review and website about cars, when you get a chance.

  • Don't worry about him. He's just P.Oed that he's to stupid to drive one and tell the difference! Great video and an even better car!

  • Hahaha! Yeah, some people don't get it... Thanks for the compliments.

  • I am truly awe struck how much some people don't know about there own cars and rank on you for knowing the facts! Oh well! No worries! Thanks for doing (true) research and giving a great video!

  • Hahaha, thank you for that. That is really such a true statement. Being at the Ford event all day today and driving the Bullitt and other Fords around their test tracks made me learn so much more that I didn't even realize...

  • I OWN ONE dumb ass..... the final drive is the same the transmission is the same, FORD's cold air intake is a joke. the suspension is EXACTLY the same, the wheels are the same just a different color pattern, the Strut tower and the exhaust is the only difference.

  • Really? Interesting. This is really funny to me seeing as which I'm in Dearborn, MI right now as I'm typing this and taking part in Ford's 2009 Model Year Product Program. I was just talking to one of Ford's Mustang development guys talking about the differences between the GT and the Bullitt, and it's really funny how you are absolutely wrong! If you really have one, you don't know how to drive it, or you don't know that the Mustang you are driving is a V-6...

  • Please, feel free to do your own study about your OWN car and tell me what you think... I'll have some new information on RawAutos about the 2010 Mustang in a few days. God, are you so wrong and it makes me laugh.

  • if you OWNED ONE, you would know that everything you just said was the a big load of crap... thank you.

  • How so? You must elaborate if you are trying to prove me wrong. I'm still thinking of buying one. I've driven the car more than 5 times now...

  • I was replyig to demonsnipe's message, not yours. :) I own 08 #1911. Anybody that own's one knows demonsnipe is a moron. :)

  • Wow, you don't even come close to deserving a Bullitt.

Well, guess what, I just happen to own one too.

3.73 gears, better suspension, etc... are all standard on the Bullitt. Now piss off, and sell your car to someone who knows what it is.

  • 4.10 final drive ratio..... is an option on GT's as well as the bullitt which would mean a GT with 4.10 FDR would out do a bullitt with 3.73 FDR in the Qtr mile, once again you are a retard.

  • I have not heard of this option. Nor can I find it anywhere... Even Ford's GT option list only has the 3.55 final drive. Can you show where you've found this information?

  • well DO YOUR RESEARCH! why dont you sit down with a sales rep, or the manager of a FORD dealership, it must be in a manual transmission to have the 4.10 option.... (idiot)

  • I just did my research. The guy holding the camera is my brother, he is also a Ford salesman. We are family friends with the owner of the dealership. Trust me, I'm never short on Ford info, way before you ever know it. 4.10 is not a FACTORY OPTION! You can get it aftermarket and have a dealer install it, but you lose your warranty. Kid, there is a reason why Ford invited me to their HQ to drive and test their 2009 products. When you get the invite, call me. When you start your own website, call.

  • u are a liar, and an idiot. There is a legal term for this, Libel.

  • Demo...4.10's are NOT a FACTORY OPTION.

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • you couldnt have told his ass off any better, nice job

  • I still rather pick a 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390

    S code.

  • Hahaha, I think we can all agree there!

  • Id take the new one.

  • I don't know, as much as I love the new one, there is nothing quite like the GT 390 made into the real Bullitt.

  • I live about 30-45 mins away from Lillington, NC.

I live in Hope Mills, NC.

Hey! have you ever been to East Coast Classic Cars before?

    Nice review!!!

    Cheers!!!

I have a friend who's parents just got a bullitt mustang but theres is in black....is that possible to order a bullitt mustang in black?

  • Yes, you can get the Bullitt in black. It is a nice color, it just isn't Bullitt Green, as I call it. You live in Hope Mills, huh? Nice area. I live in Raleigh and in Wilmington. I have been to East Coast Classic Cars. They have some nice inventory, to say the least, haha.

  • What i wonder is, why the heck dident they make the mustang like this in the first place?

  • I'm with you on this one, boss.

  • the bullitt comes in highland green and black

  • Yes, I know.

  • no the bullitt only comes in green

  • Not true. The original Bullitt only came in Green. This one now comes in Black. Go to a local Ford dealer, check it out on their website, do whatever you have to to find out.

  • does the bullitt come with the "my color" option?

  • the answer to your question is yes. the Bullitt comes with the MyColor option. at least mine did.

  • The Bullitt is a great package and a very good price.

I'm happy you like the car, but please do more research before you do these reviews and talk details. You really don't know this car.

  • If you read my website I made the corrections. I know the shifter is aluminum and Bullitt was made in 1968 not 69. I don't why I said those things. It was rather hot outside and I was very sick from the day before from heat exhaustion. I apologize.

  • And a bullitt with 200 extra HP would "whomp" on a z06? Excuse me? I enjoy drugs too, but cmon. A z06 has 505 hp, weighs 3150 pounds, and pulls a G on the skidpad. That special bullitt would have 515 hp, weigh an additional 400 pounds, and flop around on the track like john kerry. You do the math.

  • Hahaha, I had to laugh at the Kerry comment because I don't like him either. Outside of that, I'm saying if the Bullitt found a way to make the same horsepower without the crap that hurts the GT500 it would be a killer. I agree I made a retarded comment about whomping on a Z06.

  • Ah here we go again. First, the gt500 does have a limited slip, and you say "it's a great car, it has 500 HP" after dissin on the supercharger. It has 500 HP BECAUSE of that supercharger. Sure, superchargers are heavy, but they add way more horsepower to offset that weight.

  • The Supercharger isn't the main weight of the GT500... The Supercharger doesn't do wonders for the GT500.

  • If you look at the roughly 350 pounds between a regular gt and a gt500, most of that weight is up front with the engine and supercharger. The 5.4 liter is bigger, has an iron block which is heavier, and that supercharger finishes the deal, adding at least 100 pounds. And that supercharger gives that 5.4 liter the horsepower and torque curve of a 7.0 liter. Were you truly not impressed with the gt500 in a straight line?

  • That is my point exactly. The GT500 straight line speed is like a C5 Corvette. It pulls well and hard, it just wasn't as thrilling as I had hoped. I love the seats, though. If you put the 5.4L into the Bullitt and took away the Supercharger, added an IRS, keep the LSD and you have a better car already. The GT500 just has too much weight to carry around. It feels like a speed boat when it starts off. I felt like I had to lean forward to keep the nose down. By the way, I love the username.

  • Haha thanks, he's one of the true heros in our world. I agree it is overweight, but that's one of the wonders of the ford 5.4 supercharged engine. You can make it go much faster, for not much money. The stock block on that engine can handle at least 800 hp, and with just a supercharger pulley upgrade, which costs next to nothing, you can add 100 HP. Try that with any naturally aspirated engine.

  • I agree that Turbo and Supercharged engines are great, but there is a reason why AMG went N/A on their cars now. The 5.4L Supercharged engine only works right in the GT, not the GT500. They need to achieve similar power with less weight.

  • A la z06, i love what chevy does with that car. More power, less weight, it's brilliant really. With that being said though, the z06 is 75000 grand, so they have the money to do that. It would be nice for the gt500 to weigh less and to have an IRS, but that would jack up the price. For what you're getting for 42,000, i can overlook the weight and no IRS.

  • But see, for $42,000 and then $20,000 upcharge, you aren't getting any performance for the dollar. I've driven the new E92 M3 and loved the performance for the dollar. It has everything a Z06 and GT500 need... Albeit with a little less performance than a Z06, but much more than a GT500. The Z06 is brilliant. My father is about to buy one, finally. This will be his 14th Vette...

  • Stick with an 03-04 cobra in a straight line? I'm no MIT graduate, but doing 104 (bullitt) in the quarter doesn't "stick" with a car that'll do 112 (cobra). Other than that, nice review.

  • Remember when I said with the right driver?

  • Okay, with the right driver in both of them, the bullitt would stick with the cobra until about 60. But after that it's pretty much game over. 8 MPH difference in the quarter is a significant margin.

  • Yes, but as you go faster it is just as important to have the right driver who knows exactly when to shift in each gear. In most sports cars the shift times in higher gears, along with knowing the right RPM to shift at in each gear can bring your 1/4 Mile times down by seconds... So 8 MPH in the 1/4 can be easily corrected with better shifting and warmer tires. Don't forget that almost every test you will see of the Bullitt, the car will not have reached its break in period.

  • Trap speed in the quarter is based mostly on horsepower, not on tires or shifting. A guy that can't drive could do a 13.7 @ 112 with a gt500, whereas a good driver could do 13.5 @ 103 with a mustang gt. The guy that couldn't drive still got a high trap speed simply because he pressed the gas pedal and shifted, the 500 hp did the work.

  • And if you shift at redline and floor the pedal in any car, you can't really go much faster, trap speed wise. The 8 MPH difference in trap speed between the cobra and the bullitt is not related to tires or shifting, it's simply the cobra is 8 mph faster, which indicates it has a lot more horsepower. We're talking about the same driver with both of the cars. And even with break in, any car is more or less the same quickness.

  • Not really, in terms of break in. My Mazdaspeed 6 is much faster after the break in and even faster when you realize where the power curve is in each gear. In 1st you have to shit around 5400-5500 RPM, and never shift after 5800 RPM in any other gear. Even though the redline is much higher, if you get to 6000 RPM, you are just wasting time. I have seen an MS6 run the 1/4 at 13.7 and one run a 14.2. It all depends on how well the driver knows his car.

  • That is true, but i'm guessing the trap speed was more or less the same on those runs? The difference between a good driver and a bad driver is quarter mile time, not trap speed. And regarding your mazdaspeed 6 and the rpm's, yeah i know what your saying, but your car (along with the mazdaspeed 3), is an extreme case regarding shifting and rpm. On most v8's, shifting at redline (or just before) creates the most horsepower and the quickest times.

  • You are right, the V8's require less finesse haha. Especially since the peak power in the Bullitt comes at 6500 RPM. The trap speed if I remember correctly was about 3-4 MPH difference. I mean you are right that a Cobra after 60 will rape a Bullitt, but a good driver can always make a slower car faster, depending on the situation, temperature, etc. etc.

  • Yeah the difference between a good and bad driver on the same car can be extreme. And regarding temperature, i have an 07 gt and it's amazing how much better my car runs in 60degrees compared to 90 degrees. It feels so much crisper, smoother, and way quicker.

  • Well, most cars are like that, but it seems that the Mustangs suffer more than most...
