@Muiretta Running JJ EL34s, as well as a JJ, Mesa, and Tung Sols in the preamp. I may try another Mesa somewhere as well as a lower gain tube for V4 in the amp. I used to own a 6 knob 30W Pro Tube, that thing was pretty burly, but it didn't have quite the level of gain that I needed. Sold it to a buddy who's rocking it hard!
@MrBlink41SUM With the exception of a few repairs due to age, I've been extremely happy with it. The only amps that are being made nowadays that compare are some of the Oranges, but they can't touch these for the price. Check out the Laney Posse Forums. They offer the best info on these amps, and I've done some looking.
@dodger916 Max treble, about half on the mids and a little more than that on the bass. Not sure where the presence is set, but all boosts were pulled. Master volume is VERY important for giving the tone definition. It was probably set at AT LEAST 11 o'clock.
Sweet the 50MV's are so unique to the 8's, mine are both Running GT EL34M's and the pre amps are respectfully:
1. 50MV 12ax7EH,Chinese 12ax7,Sovtek 5751, 12ax7EH
2. 50 AOR 12ax7R GT, JJ ECC81, GT12ax7 Fender chinese, GT JAN 12ax7.
IMO all are not worthy of this amp........... as they are what came with it. Would love to have an AOR30 someday but way down on the list ya know?
