@MrRgeller Well said, although America has probably turned over the most amount of prize $ than any other Country in the WWTBAM franchise, Kevin Olmsted and Ed Toutant are probably the only two contestants that have had a 7 figure sum after tax.

Back home in Aus, although I wish Ch9 would ditch weekday Hot Seat in favour of the something similar to the current UK or US formats primetime, at least a potential $1Million hot seat winner would not have to pay any tax.

@mohdban guys..., there is literally no way to KNOW the answer sitting there without a computer or calculator, the guy did NOT do what you said.., he actually tried to go through the numbers and realized it was impossible so he took an educated guess. That has to be one of the hardest possible questions considering you could not phone a friend or ask the audience.

Now, I'm not trying to sound arrogant here, but I knew the answer to the Uncle Sam one before it came up because I had read this exact fact in a trivia book a few years ago, so it's not as hard as some other questions but the 1st guy did really well. Also, the questions have gotten progressively harder over the years. E.g. here in the UK the most recent millionaire was asked a question about some obscure boxer who hit a gong in 1940s films....
