  • I have not thought about this song in a long while, I remember as a teen when it came out.

  • This is back when grass was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good.

  • Yeah, pre- and post-hippie dippy crappola rules.

  • one of my first "45s",for the uninitiated ,a "45" was a small vinyl disc, songs recorded on this medium lasted only 2or 3 minutes.psychotic ,like the works of the great duke ellington, were inspired ,in my opinion ,by the sound, the rythym of trains

  • I just had a Psychotic Reaction after work.problem is i have to go back again tomorrow.

  • How could I miss this band????? I guess it's one of the first bands that use fuzzbox on the lead guitar 1965 - interesting! In the mid 60's there were a lot of good bands around the world that did´nt "breakthrough". One of them was my favorite THE ZETTLERS. Check up their versions of "Skinnie Minnie" and "Beautiful Delilah". What a feeling and what a bloody drive.

  • " SHIT THATS A GREAT BEAT!!! love it!!

  • Cool Song , can't wait til the current "rap crap" goes out of style and good old fashioned kick it rock comes back..

  • @Civitatuccillo I so understand..

  • The count 5-their one hit peaked on the Billboard chart at #5. In 1966.

  • One of the best one hit wonders ever!

  • is that a phone number on the tone arm?

  • @m1kewithaone - I thought that at first too, but there's only 6 numbers. I think that PH means phonograph, so it's phonograph #955426.

  • @42belvedere oh ok, that makes sense. now i get to hear this song again!! lol

  • cacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocacocac

let o=i therefore cia chance and chaos pyschotic psyche+chaos

  • PERCUSSION, in the 60's it was a driving force.

  • Buen disco

  • great quality so record was not abused this song inspired a kid down the street to learn how to play guitar and became a very good player continued study in calif. univ. and like george harrison learned to play sitar too

  • Gotta hear the scracthes, hic ups and static...oooh the GOOD OL DAYS

  • Entourage

  • I found this group while looking for pics of a Danelectro Bellzouki. (The guitar that John Byrne plays.) This is a surprisingly good recording considering its age and the phono it was played on. Now, to have a little fun, download this song, and convert it to mp3. Play it back in WinAmp, but after you've downloaded the free DSP plug-in from iZotope called "Vinyl". Set the appropriate switches and have fun.

  • I don't care for todays HD ! No HD can bring this feeling back

  • OH YA... THE MUSTANGSALLY>> NEEDLE hitting the record was ALWAYS the best.. would put a person in the right Mood, anticipating the song.

    Just love the sound .

    'glad others enjoy the same

  • I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS SONG <3 <3 <3

As a 13 year old girl as a psychedelic rock fan/hippie in junior high school, I get alot of crap, man, but it's totally worth it cuz ill stand up for myself unlike these girls nowadays who have to gag themselves and wear craploads of makeup to look even "decent"

  • ME DOES @TheMustangsally75 . . . hard to beleive that when this song came out

. . . IT WAS CONSIDERED HARD ROCK!!! (not sure what term we used back then!!!

  • @TheQ97 Yes....our version (those of us who grew up in the 60s) was indeed hard rock but it was officially labeled "Beat Rock" from the "English Envasion" days. What was funny was the UK boys (and girls) got their inspiration from early American rock which came from Gospel, Blues, and Country Western. It's all "ours" though man! ; )

  • The writer of this song, John Byrne died on December 15, 2008 at 61, from cirrhosis of of the liver.

  • @ratter531 Sorry to hear. This is one of my all time favorite songs!

    R.I.P Mr. Byrne

  • @ratter531 was he related to David?

  • A cool little Texas band.

  • Anyone know why 45's had a large hole and you needed to use the adapter with the small hole, whereas 33's had the small hole. Why not have a small hole on both? I'm sure there's a reason but it's been so long since I owned a record player I don't remember the answer.

  • @nofortunatesonII because a lot of 45's where put into juke boxes which had a much larger spindle diameter, if you look at a lot of 1970's 45's they had middle that had a small hole that could be pushed out for use with a juke box, that is certainly true of uk 45's, I am not sure about US pressings most that I have need an adapter to play

  • good song

  • TED BUNDYS themesong!

  • the one and only all timer. If I had a dime for every one I dropped in Donnie's jukebox at the Rec, I'd be able to retire

  • Sweet. Love this sound. Thanks!

  • Great song, got to be in the top 5 garage songs along with 96 tears, Liar liar Hey little girl & Gloria, by the way Jesusmobile2 i thought you had spelt spelled wrong but i think you spell spelt, spelled in the States

  • love the sixtys garage band sound thats the coolest time for rock history 96 tears louie louie, gloria wild ting etc.

  • This is also on the album called-NUGGETS ORIGINAL ARTYFACTS FROM THE FIRST PSYCHEDELIC ERA, which I have also found on CD and which I own on vinyl...

  • Jesus, get a life. If you come back to earth it will probably be as a dictionary.

    Just saying.

  • @crittsh lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • pure 1966 garage band that a intelligent 15 year old jammed to it in oct 1966

  • Darn, can't find my 45, glad I found yours !

  • can I have your 45"? please..

  • I Think I Gonna Jizz in my Pants....This Is So GOOD!

  • Looking for the Nash the Slash cover. Can anyone help me out here?

  • @outadarut Is it not on American Bandages?

  • this band is from san jose, ca, cool, home grown stuff!!

  • One of the greatest !!!

  • gOTTA HEAR THE NEEDLE HITTING THE VINYL. aNYONE AGREE?

  • @TheMustangsally75 I agree. See my comment!!

  • @TheMustangsally75 YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheMustangsally75 I remember when everything was on vinyl, sure glad it's not anymore. Nice to hear the music instead of crack, pop, hiss. Technology can be a good thing.

  • @TheMustangsally75 Yep !

  • @TheMustangsally75 I sooo miss vinyl

  • Love this song. I was 7 when this came out. My uncle was the bass player for the house band named the 'House Pets' at the Troll A Go-Go in San Jose. He played gigs with the Count 5, Syndicate of Sound, Chocolate Watchband, the E-Types, etc. Good times!

  • Where's my dancin shoes???

  • Gotta hear the needle hitting the vinyl!!! ,OH YEAH!!!

  • Garfieldcat5 thank you, another great song from my childhood! It certainly comes from a time when everyone listened to a greater variety of music. This song and Wipeout were the fastest two songs we used to try to dance to.

  • @marchnmarv

We all used to play WIPEOUT on the lunch room tables when lunch was done!!! LOL!!! I can still do it. Not to bad for a grandma eh?

  • It does have some value. I'd buy it. It is not a dime a dozen.

  • ohhhhhh yeahhhhh I have a psycothic reaction when I see a girl here in my town, and believeme this is for real.......:)

  • la re verga

  • Those 45s with the good picture sleeves were great tho. Hell, you can't even read the liner notes in a CD without a frigging magnifying glass! So people don't read this stuff any more and learn about the personnel and instruments and cool stuff they would write.

  • I was looking for this (original 45) and found it in a record shop in Camden about 5 years ago. I paid £35 for it, happy to pay that for this classic I struggled to get hold off.

  • de la vieja escuela del buen garage!!

  • What happened to the Sharks??

  • The era of the garage bands. Great stuff!

  • Somehow it's just not the same in mono... I've never heard any true stereo mix of this, but the fake stereo was rather impressive. It starts out as the old "duophonic" mix, treble on one side and bass on the other, but during the guitar breakdown it starts rotating through mono, then reverse, then back to mono, then back to the original stereo picture, round and round at about 45rpm... listen to that in headphones, and you'll get dizzy. Great stuff.

  • without those songs, bf aint the same.. know what i mean folks (=

  • lol this is on battlefield vietnam f4 phantom and napalm coming out

  • yardbirds copy! but awsome some!!!! kickass

  • 1966 Groovin' to this on the jukebox in the Book Nook at Turkey Creek Jr/Sr High School. You can't put a price on the memories this brings. Thanks - I'm a teenager again!

  • Texas boys. We opened for them at the Rose Room in Beaumont in '69. Jammed all night. Great times!

  • Masterpiece.

  • definitely one of the best songs for garagebands to jam to even still!

Right up there next to Gloria and Louie Louie in my opinion. :)

  • Everytime I hear this tune I just have the biggest smile on my face - I can't help it - it was the "heaviest" song going on AM radio at the time, right there w/the Animals, b r r r , g r r r , w o o o o o !!!

  • Excellent song. I posted the extended version. I have found some foreign pictures sleeves for this record but I have never came across an American one. Prices always depend on the condition of the record and how bad somebody wants it.

  • oh wow (: thank you(:

  • my uncle left me the '45' of this how much do u think this is worth its an orginal? (:

  • @dynamektv

Probably not much, my Dad always says the picture sleeves are worth more (this one obviously is too old to have one) and usually stock copies (like this) are a dime a dozen and basically worthless. A promo edit or special radio station one is worth a little more.

  • @dynamektv according to my 45 rpm price guide, depending on labelling and condition it could be worth anywhere from 5 to 12 dollars have fun

  • @dynamektv the original single Pye 7N25393 1966 was valued @ £15 for a mint copy in my 2000 edition of Penguin Price guide

  • @dynamektv dude maybe in us its not worth much, but as in europe i'd give you $25 for it , sellin for $75 , im dealin in old vinyls , and im tellin you psychodelic rock from 70s thats the shit, i get most of money on this kinda records, no kiddin

  • @makingdiamonds I got all of them, from Green Onions to Tobacco Road, Go Now, She loves You, Grand Funk, Fog Hat, War, She's Not There, on and on most with jackets. Interested in buying something?

    Donald on K.C.

  • how much is this record worth do u know?(:

  • I remember buying this "45" in 1966 for a dollar at a record store. Spent my whole week's allowance on it and it drove my parents crazy 'cause its all I played for a few weeks, ( I was Ten at the time), and I should NOT have spent it on this noise. They just didn't get it.

  • iI that's true your dad kicked out a hell of a number!

  • My Dad was the recording engineer on this song! Harmony recording studios in Hollywood.

  • that record player was bought from a school

  • THE RESIDENTS put this on there THRID REICH & ROLL album, check wikipedia...

  • a very well hidden clue here.--- rock opera coming.

  • awsome song

  • They are rockin' the hell out

  • you spelled reaction wrong in the title JUST SAYING

  • Wow how the hell did I miss that... fixed and thanks for reminding me!

  • freeeaaaak out!!

  • this song in the party scene during Factory Girl is brilliant.

  • Drugstore Cowboy? What film dude?

  • @Psychocybinator the Warhol--Edie Sedgewick biopic Factory Girl. IMDB it, it has great music and this plays during one of the Factory drug fueled parties. (Director's cut at least)

  • Thanks for the info dude :)

  • Thanks dude. Really appreciate that. Downloading from demonoid as we speak. :)

  • definatly not the 90's

  • back in the 60's it was so hard to find this kind of breakthrough rock. groups like this definitly paved the way for f.m. rock they were the pioneers.

  • 60's and the 90's are the mosty exciting times in music.period.

well the hay day of classic blues isn't bad either ;)

  • 90s?!? Nope.

  • @Khultan whuh?...the sheer amount of creative projects was propagating ..just not on the radio or popular..

  • When I contrast the two eras one from another. The 90s leave much to be desired in comparison to the 60s.

  • yeah 90s sucked

  • oh shut up.

  • my opinions

  • Anyone ever realize that people into new age music like their music, but we live and become tranced into ours?

  • i dig it.thanks man.old guy here 55 i lived through all this great music.today's music sucks!

  • i secont the music sux today. bob dylan and the trashmen had more music in them than any one nowadays

  • I'm not even from your generation and I agree. And, NOPE, I don't like glam rock, punk rock, disco, new wave, heavy metal, goth, emo, etc. I listened to most groups from those eras and I like some but the plain fact is that I really dig rock and roll of the 60s era.

  • can ya just HEAR syd vicious sneering here, in this voice, from 1966..holy crap.

it was good to rock then.

    and good to hear this...

  • sid*

  • sorry for the typo, Emo..I KNOW better..

    have a great week...

  • Never said you didn't. Simply pointing out :]

    Sorry if I caused offence.

  • Johnny Rotten was the sneerer.

  • Sid Vicious?!? Ha ha ha ha...

  • This came out at the same time that great bands like THE PRETTY THINGS and YARDBIRDS were blazing this incredible garage proto punk.

Killer. This is when Rock was exciting.

    Saturdays were worth waiting for

  • I never heard this song till now its very good!!

  • Groovy.

  • One of the early punk songs before there was such a genre. The mindset/ attitude was there! This one always manages to get me pumped!

  • Que canción para más locaza. Viva el rock clasico carajo. Jamás morira.

  • Speaks for it's self!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 60s punk...

  • fuck yeah.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!

  • Seems like 1965-66 were really good years for music.

  • from around 1960 to late 60's was great

  • Always thought this was the Yardbirds..wow!..cool!...sounds like they got Jeff Beck to sit in for that sxolo...lol.

  • My mother and I made a mix-tape for a vacation down to Florida with my father and this song was on that tape. I must've been 9 years old. Thanks for the memories.

  • Fantastic song! Thanks for sharing this gem. 5*****

  • I think this great cut, along with The Seeds "Pushing Too Hard",started the whole psychedelic rock thing, along with the Yardbirds work.

  • sau guat isses

  • my dad had this 45 and i remember wearing it out. i haven't heard it in years! man, where's my time machine?

  • 1966...September...Goodfellow AFB Texas...loved this tune!

  • LOve iT

    :)

  • Sounds like a mix of The DC5 and The Yardbirds.

  • Haha ha I have the same exactt record playerrr

  • I have this same :45 RPM. My younger sister berated me for buying the Standells' "Dirty Water" back in the day (now it's the Boston Red Sox unofficial anthem; still have the record), saying it was nasty, but then she goes out and gets this edgy-for-the-time record. The "I can't get satisfaction" line was a parasite attempt to capitalize on the Rolling Stones' previous hit "Satisfaction."

Count Five never hit the charts after this, as far as I know.

  • If you have to be known for only one hit, this is the song. What a rave-up!

  • Put your thumb up your butt and rotate.

  • The middle eight was great. Cool tune. Fuzzy guitar was cool.

  • Posters on another vid of this say that this band and others were influenced by the Yardbirds.

  • your not supposed to talk with a mouth full of shit

  • The end of the long version sounds identical to the finish for the Yardbird's I'm A Man (hulabaloo). As both came out in 1965, was wondering who ripped off who...or it was a coincidence?

  • I would have to say, They shared it LOL... Back then it wasn't stealing others music they usually shared cause it about getting the music out not making money, REMEMBER it was different back then.. people didn't sue each other because of stolen beats, I GIVE PROPS TO BOTH!!!!

  • Point well taken, this truism had slipped my mind.

  • Another one hit wonder but what a great song thanks for posting.

  • I was 10, and danced my but off to this great song. They were WAY ahead of their time!!! geri

  • I have one of the originals. I bought mine when it first came out.:-)

  • I was only 8 years old .. and I loved it then!!!!! still lovin' it! tks.

  • People should not write or put tape on good records. Not good garage stuff at least.

  • Everyone use to wrtite their name and phone number on 45's,because when you went to someone's houseparty or after school dances, you knew who it belonged to. geri in detroit. (when this song came out it was incredible)

  • What are those markings on the record and arm?

  • on the arm was from the school the record player came from

  • This song is cool and groovy, it gots me gyrating in my shorts, right on. ;)

  • VERY VERY VERY BOSS !!!!!

  • I bliss the day I had a psychedelic reaction in 1967.

  • great song, love the version of Tom Petty live with the Heartbreakers

  • looks like you hijacked your record player from a public library or elemetary school.. don't worry i won't tell anybody!!

  • I've got a retro funky one that holds a $270.00 cartridge--and thats where the sound is at ;)

  • Love the turntable ---thanks for putting on YT

  • jprende007- there is a long version? I'd give my eye teeth to download it or whatever. Every time I listen to this song I get bummed cause I know it's gonna end soon. Anybody know how to get a hold of this longer version?

  • Sorry bud, I know it's not on cassette (I have the 3 minute version on one). You could try an oldies record store that has 45's? It was played on radio stations years ago but was likely phased out with other freewheeling type stuff like Neil Young's lengthy cowgirl in the sand.

  • Thanks for the info, jprend. I do know of a lot of oldies record stores & a friend of mine is an old record buyer/seller, plus every 3rd Sun at our high school gymnasium there's an oldies wholesaler's swap meet type of deal, so thanks for your input!

  • Hey: The Cramps did a version of this song, a few actually, that are kind of long. Try to find those.
