Ok, I have windows firewall enabled, I set up a Terraria server and it works (I've been playing for weeks on my hosted server with friends), but I didn't have to allow the port or the program through the firewall. Why is this?

@ACBdiehardfan allowing steam through the firewall and then launching terrarria through steam should work, you may need to individually allow the server program itself as well.

This didn't work for me at first, but then I also tried entering the port and terrariaserver.exe in the "outbound" rules as well. Then I tested my port on canyouseeme(dot)org and it worked! Tested it with a friend successfully. Thanks a lot!

To you people having troubles connecting to your server witht the IP, try writing 'localhost' as an IP while the server is running. It worked for me

Just to make it more simple to those who do not have a TCP and UDP together while port forwarding - it doesnt matter if you first make a TCP only protocol and then a UDP protocol, it will result in the same effect.

Ok so I followed your steps and I'm able to connect ton my server like you did at the end of the video the thing is, after around 20 secs I lose connection to the server and i have to disconnect from my network and reconnect in order to be able to go on internet again.

@lyons12598 (this is for Norton 360) hover over "PC security" click "manage firewall". once there click "Program Rules" and add Terraria to it. (if you do not have Norton 360, check for an option named "manage firewall")
