Our Nominee will fail if we fail, we need to attend to the system in our towns and cities. We need to attend our councils in mass and petition for the voter registrations to be up to date. Demand ID be taken to verify the voters. Demand reciept of votes, demand that all votes taken be counted and registered before leaving the polling stations. Monitors at all polling stations, video everything. We need to attend our duties and be active in this system, it has failed for we have failed.

Jefferson, van Buren, Lincoln, FDR, John Adams, Wilson, lots of presidents haven't been soldiers. They're a mixed bag just like any other arbitrary group.

Some of the best, like Jefferson and van Buren, were not.

Some of the worst, like Teddy Roosevelt and Nixon, were.

I see no qualification for Prez for being in the military.

The qualification for someone with that power, is that they DO NOT WANT IT.

@CurtHowland I think you're missing the point. Out of all the candidates, Ron Paul is the only one that cautions going to war. Yet, he's the only Vet. Its because he served, is the reason he cares about the troops. He will only send them to war if its for national defense and approved by Congress. These other chicken-hawk draft dodgers like Newt Gingrich, on the other hand, are so quick to send troops into harms way, risking their lives, but never themselves made such a sacrifice.

Just being in the military has NOT stopped people from being warmongers. Hitler was a veteran of WW1.

John McCain comes to mind e.g. However, in Ron Paul's case it IS the reason as per his own words and track record. I think we're arguing semantics here. The point the video was making is that maybe beyond all this talk about what foreign policy the U.S. should follow, we should consider the only candidate who knows from experience the unintentional consequences of unnecessary wars.

These chickenhawks we have now aren't. I agree that being a vet should not be criteria for being President, but any man willing to send another man to die for him without willing to die themselves should not be given the privilege of being the commander-in-chief, aka the top guy of the MILITARY.
