You guys are right about exploding stuff.... What I find interesting is the color of light that comes off it. Some times the camera adds it's own distortion and the CCD cant change fast enough. But for the most part, the plasma has that neon blue color check it out in the slow-mo. It's cool. I have let it off in a long tube and the light comming off is a brilliant blue white and maybe some UV.
i got the same one,and its slumped and melted out of shape now =]
btw -im abit down on the whole making big bangs with hho thing,as i feel it gives us a bad rep.its not inconceivable that some fool will blow their shed up and end up on the 6 o'clock news, and make it hard for all of us.
Yes the container was from woollies probably the same one, but I never let it get hot enough to cause damage. As for explosions I completely agree with you, I debated as to whether or not to post this video, but since this is no secret I figured it was better to show how to do it safely rather than ignore the subject. If anyone considers doing these experiments please be safe.
My container also had leaks around the top, so I sealed it up with glue. I would not use this container in a car for the cell, it would only be used in that situation as a bubbler.
Mark do your ears still work cause it pulls the drum out first. Messes with those littel bones and pisses off the wife and neighbors when you do that. Just a warning. I do it all the time ...... Hehehehehe
I always wear really good ear protection and safety glasses. I have only set about three off, the first one I did in the front yard and a few neighbours came out to see what was going on so I quickly disappeared.
That is why hydrogen is much safer as a fuel than gasoine, it rises at a rate of 20m/s. Now try and burn that in the free air and you wont get much unless your the flash.
I have wanted to use my cell to fill a large clear garbage bag, (very dangerous be very wary)then inside the large bag place a small balloon filled with just pure hydrogen to the point it will just rise in the normal atmosphere . If the hydroxy separates the balloon in theory would rise on the oxygen but when it meets the hydrogen above it should stop at the dividing line , you could then vent one or the other, possibly compressing the hydrogen into a tank for later use.
I have filled balloons with hydrogen from the reaction of lye in water with shredded aluminum foil , makes hydrogen and steam. The balloon would not explode when ignited just burst into a yellow ball of fire because of the absence of air inside the balloon. If you use a couple feet of fuse the balloon would rise quite high before you would see the fireball. And no i would never do that in a populated area, would only bring the government man down on you. I live in a rural area doubt anyone sawit
I was surprised the hydrogen in the balloon could lift the oxygen and the rubber balloon. Now here is a question for all the people reading here , will the hydrogen in the balloon go to the top and the oxygen separate and be at the bottom if the balloon is left very still for a time? Could the oxygen be drained out a bottom valve leaving just hydrogen in the balloon????? Inquiring minds would like to know. If that balloon had only hydrogen in it there would be no bang just yellow flame.........
easy to make "hydrogen", well erectonium,
muriatic acid and aluminum mixed in a bottle.
you get explosive lighter than air gas.

Watch out for static electricity....

the container went out of shape after accidently leaving it switched on after running some tests in my vehicle.
im guessing it got to about 60 degrees C.
it's still servicable but doesnt look too flash anymore.
i also had trouble with leaks ,at the top where the lid neck was glued.
im looking for a better one, that will stand up to the temp.
if i was driving for 6-8 hrs the bottle would end up around 55 degrees.

let me know if you find a good ready made bottle ;]

you could try a water filter, the under the sink type.
