dawg you had it until you got scratchy at the end of Variation II. note clarity fell behind but for someone who didnt take private lessons for it thats respectable. not a bad job
You did a pretty good job, Ben, did you take private lessons? I played that my senior year back in '93 with my HS band too, although the J.B. Arban version. I now have a degree in trumpet performance, I wonder what type of music degrees the negative comment posters have.
thanks, i appreciate it. I took private lessons off and on throughout high school, but most of the time it was just on my own. I started working on the Arban version, but I think I'm going to put my horn down for a while. A lot of changes in my life right now as you can imagine. But arbans is a little out of my league ;)
I don't know what they're complaining about, you sound good. Most of what's wrong will correct itself as your chops continue to strengthen and become more stable. Then you'll be able to devote more energy into the other details like timing and musicality and it'll all come together. People forget that trumpet is one of the slower instruments to learn and it takes most players years just to learn some basic control over the instrument.
You did a great job on this. I like how your tone is nice and full. My trumpet instructor tried to convince me to take the last variation up the octave like it was in yours, but I preferred the sound of the lower notes. I noticed you made a small mistake towards the end, but you did a very good job covering it up. Virtually flawless.
Wow. Everyone in this band is actually playing music.. not just everything that you have to have to make music.. you can tell because they put enthusiasm in their music
Much talent! Sounded great.

i think you know who this is... though i was never your caliber. i didn't make it into all-county, so i just had to settle for all-country.

well, at least THEY'D take you... poor guys
bthrun90 3 years ago
that's alright, but it's not all-county material.

yeah, this was just my warm-up before I practiced my REAL all-county music.

Good performance, nice tone. But indeed, you have to make more of it, than only play the notes. Is easy to say, but not easy to do.

He should work more on musicality
