  • God bless you, palapescada. Just reading your comment brought tears to my eyes. I was/am a Marine, and the expression we Marines have is that

"Marines don't die, they just go to heaven and regroup", so I know that your Dad is looking down on you from heaven, and thanking you for your comment. I can only imagine what he must have gone through in WW2 in the Pacific. It is men like your Dad, that made this country great. Semper Fi, and OORAH.

  • Sempi Fi

  • Happy Birthday, Marines!

  • I am an ex-NAVY Corpsman, from years back. I'm 46 y/o now & my days with the Division is still fresh in my mind. They were in fact, some of the best days of my life. I consider it bragging rights to say I was in the company of such brave and honorable men (funny as hell too). Semper Fi till my last breath!!!

  • Why is the Drum Major wearing a Bear Skin?

Trying to copy The Drum Majors of the Foot Guards, without realising the history and tradition that lies behind the Bear Skin and that it's actually a Battle Honour. And why the Red Tunic.

  • Semper Fi!

  • How do we produce such men? I don't have the answer to that question, but I am thankful that they are produced & that they choose to serve their country & their fellow countrymen. Semper Fi Marines.

    Thank you for your service.

  • I AM A FORMER U.S. VET.

    READ MY BIO!

  • Hey Doc... You'll never be an ex Navy Corpsman, you'll always be a former Corpsman/Marine in my eyes... Semper Fi

  • THANK YOU all for your faithful service. My son served in the USMC- twice in Iraq. My Dad was a Marine in WW 2. Thank you to the navy Corpsman. Marines love you guys.

  • Thank You Vets is dedicated to all those who have worn the uniform of the United States of America! Thanks for giving us a part of you mcintear, to your dad palasecada, and the rest. "ThankYouVets (dot) org"

  • @ThankYouVeterans Thank you for your kind words. I will come and visit you at ThankYouVets(dot)org.

  • why is the conducter wearing a british royal gaurd uniform when its the u.s. marines oorraa

  • @sportsman796 its because the presidents marine corps band dont wear the dress blues they wear the red uniform

  • I have never witnessed such brotherhood, loyalty and so much more than i've seen in the USMC. I dream to be one, and till that day I hold their ideals high!! Semper Fidelis!

  • @baratonebitch Oooo-Rah! Hold on to those ideals. Our country desperately needs people like you. Semper Fi!

  • SEMPER FIDELIS MARINES. MY BROTHERS!

  • I wish this wasn't so emotional for me.. I hate tears... Miss the corp. so much..

  • Why does a Buckingham guard lead it?

  • @lothow Drum majors in the top U.S. military bands wear bearskin caps for the same reason the British guards regiments do--they saw a foreign unit wearing them and thought they looked impressive. The British copied the bearskin from Napoleon's Imperial Guard; the U.S. bands copied it from the British. The red tunics come from an old custom for musicians to wear coats in their parent unit's facing color. Marine uniforms are navy blue with red trim, so the band's are red with navy blue trim.

  • sept 12th :) it's game on for me

  • this is making me cry my band teacher wants me join the marine band and not to be a ''jarhead'' and join the marine band as a tuba player but no im im becomeing a young marine

    semper fi or die

  • I miss this shit so much..

  • @palaescada My father in law was a Marine in the 1st Mar Div in WWII also. Guadalcanal, Pelileu etc.. I served 1972-1976. Your post had me tearing up. I know the feeling. Thanks for sharing

  • @mcintearj I served USMC 1972-1976. Navy corpsmen are so highly respected by Marines. Get in a fight with a corpsman, you're in a fight with the Marines. Thank you, Doc.

  • Thank you, Sir for posting this. Semper Fi till i die

  • the u.s. marine band is flawless...all the time at every thing they play

  • Thanks for posting this very moving video! And, God Bless all United States Marines who currently or who've ever served our great nation. Further, God Bless ALL of our fine military personnel, who sacrifice so much that we may remain free! Semper Fi!

  • with love from an Army soldier....!!!!

  • @mcintear: I was a cross-trained Navy medic, like you , I got my Purple Heart on the beach during Nam (not being brave like they were, just a stray bit of metal). There is NO body of men and women who I would select over the US Marines if it came to protecting my daughters or grand kids...and if it should come to that, there is no force that I would rather stand beside at a final battle. May God bless the United States, and the US Marines!

  • you've made me miss my beloved brother greg...semper fi!

  • I almost just cried.

  • The few the proud.

  • I Can Play The Hymn On Piano :)

  • @ttuk Yep - the harmonics are AWESOME!

  • wow they did it so good you can hear the history in the song.

  • I heard the "Marines" in the President's Own aren't really Marines. They are civilians hired to play. I got this info from a 03 on 8th and I.

  • @Zomb131 saome are but yeah u can try out to be in it and join, but my friend in my platoon enlisted to earn the title

  • @Zomb131 False. And I would say I have a pretty good idea since I have spoken with and been to Masterclasses with a trumpeter from the Band. He is also a very good friend of my trumpet professor. All musicians are infact Marines. They do not however, have to go through basic but instead do their training with the band leader he teaches them the things they need to know in order to be a marine. The reason for this is because these people are getting paid to play and boot camp might hurt the areas

  • @Zomb131 they use to play such as lips, fingers, hands, etc. BUT, those that are in the field bands do have to go through basic training because they get deployed and, well, it's obvious why you would need to go through Basic if you are getting deployed. Those in the President's Own still have to PT, they still have to take PFTs, and they still have to meet dress and appearance standards. I hope this clears up bullshit that's going around on the internet.

  • @Zomb131 No you did not get this info from any Marine at 8th and I. You got it from the rabbit you pulled out of you ass. The Marine Corps Band was establised and their mission defined by law in 1798. Just because their statutory mission is completely outside the mission of the rest of the Marine Corps does not degate the fact these the Marine Corps Band members are MARINES.

  • @Robbob9933 shut the fuck up boot.

  • @Zomb131 You're the fucking boot for getting his fucked up ass called on something he has no fucking idea what he is talking about. No, not a boot, you're a fucking shitbird. All you had to fucking to to not look like a fucking dumb ass it to do a little simple research. Maybe simple is a little too advanced for you.

  • @Robbob9933 Bitch, you're going to believe internet information over FIRST HAND INFORMATION I received from a Marine who was there. Proves you're a dumb ass shower shoe, and a moron, believing whatever you read on the internet. Use your GI bill, boot. Maybe it'll do you some good.

You probly aren't even a Marine. YouTube wanna be. Yut, bitch.

  • @Zomb131 LIke I said a bit of simple research is too advanced for you. All you have to do is go to marineband dot usmc dot mil. I really doubt who ever you talked to was even a Marine. Your profile says you are 26, so you were born in 1984 or 1985. In 1984 I was farmed out be Quantico to Marine Barracks Washington to be an admin for The Marine Corps Band. I handled their SRBs, their MOS is 5511, they start off with the rank of Saff Sergeant due to their advanced skill. (cont)

  • @Zomb131 (cont) They are subject to the UCMJ. They do go through a training program that does not include rifle, swim, or field work. This is because that have no bullet pusher role.

  • My father was in the USMC 1st Div. in the Pacific during WW2. When I was still a young child, we went to Washington one year on a family vacation and one of the things we saw was the USMC memorial. My father walked up to it by himself and just stood there for a long time. When he turned back to us, he had tears running down his face. It was the only time in my life that I ever saw tears in his eyes. I didn't understand then, but I do now. I love you and miss you, Daddy. Semper Fi.

  • @palapescada wow... a heartwarming story...

  • @werty448 Thank you for your very kind comment. All best wishes to you and yours.

  • @palapescada That is an awesome story. Thanks for sharing! Semper Fi!

  • @palapescada My father was also in The First marine Division I-3-1 under Chesty Puller---I know exactly what you mean---I miss my dad also---only time i saw my dad cry was when The Marine Hymn was played---

  • @virginia177612 Thank you for your kind comments. My father served with Chesty Puller, too. My father told me that Chesty Puller was, "The fightenest' Marine I ever saw", and was known for his fierce and often vulgar observations. When Chesty Puller was first shown a flamethrower, he is alleged to have said, "Where do you attach the bayonet? Our fathers were unquestionably great and good men who did what had to be done. God bless them for their great and gallant service to the country.

  • @palapescada God bless you. What a precious memory

  • @palapescada sounds like the movie saving private ryan

  • Nappy birthday to my Beloved Corps. Semper Fi!

  • Happy Birthday OOORAH!

  • I was there, the day this was filmed.............beautiful ceremony ! Semper Fi !

  • Forever my Number One favorite Song. Semper Fi

  • one of the greatest songs ever written

  • THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD FROM THE WORLD'S BEST MILITARY. MAY GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES MARINES

  • Oh Lord, how very much this piece of music has stirred my soul for the last 60 years. This piece and "Taps" at my funeral will send me into God's Kingdom in a state of peace and grace.

  • I may be a future Navy man but I will always respect the marines and every other branch out there. May God keep safe all out there.

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM! I did not know that Statue was that big holy shit.

  • OOHRAH brother.

  • "Uncommon valor was a common virtue."

Thank you from the hearts of all freedom loving Americans for your service to our country.

  • Sir(s): I just want to ask TO Whom It May Concern, in the USA or Otherwise, "Was it now so much fun getting a Good Country Boy in Serious Trouble Over & Over Through the Female "Great Satan" and Her Followers or Pet Species?" It appears SOMEONE has a fetish for either pain him or herself or giving out Pain & Suffering to "the Weaklings." There is a Blade awaiting for the Perpetrators of Wrongful Medical Practices disguised as "White Witchcraft," the real "Roswell New Mexico Alien Craft." --J.D.

  • @torstvillinger YOur either an americian, true to their country or you need to get the hell out and live with the ones who waht to destry this great country. These brave men of all all the services gave their lives so crap like you can sit and bad mouth and take advantage of the FREEDOM they have. Get the hell out and live with the arabs, of the illegials in their nations. TRue americians dont want you here

  • @tacklbery111 True Americans remember that had George Washington just left when he didn't like how things were going then there wouldn't even BE a United States of America. True Americans remember that what makes America great is her diversity. You have forgotten (if you ever knew) what America is really about. America is not, and has never been, about blind obedience. It was founded by rebels. Your attitude is an Imperial one. Give it some thought.

  • @grygus You are one confused puppy. The American Revolution was won in the south not the north. These forces were not under the command of Washington. Washington lost far more battles than he won. Washington was commanded, through his shared sacrifice, the blind obedience of his troops. The revolution would have had the same result. And what teh fuck are you talking about with diversity. The revolution was englishman vs englishman.

  • @Robbob9933 The problem you're having is that you did not read the post to which I am replying, and so took me out of context, missing my point. Nothing you wrote in any way counters my post.

  • nice video, had a good chuckle when I saw this was put together by "Sand Flea studios!"

  • Sir(s): If I may, at this Date and Time, state here and attest thus, "I remember the wine was sweet and the bread was always fresh. We conversed in Lyric, rich and passionate, and the young girls, intact for marriage, blessed their men in every dialect. In the village curling like a sprig of jasmine by the sea it was almost impossible to imagine betrayal: sour wine, stale bread, bad verse, unfaithful wives."--Attributed, ANDREAS KARAVIS listed by JAMES HOWARD DAY (JR.), SATX 78202 USA (="J.D.")

  • @steelfan77 I am sorry to contradict you, sir, but you have it exactly backwards. The Presidents own is in Washington, they wear the red uniforms and with the exception of only a few, they did not go to boot camp. They are called The Marine Band. I am looking at the latest issue of their newsletter, and all the way through they say Marine Band when referring to The Presidents Own. All of the other 8 bands are called Marine Corps Bands and their full title lists who and where they are.

  • gives me the chills

  • I am a ex Navy Corpsman (SW/AW/FMF) With a purple heart that I received while I was with the Marines. There is a special place in my heart for the Marine corps. When I go to the Marine Corps memorial and I see those marines and that one corpsman planting that flag and I think back to Clint Eastwood's movie Flags of our fathers, I get teared and choked up. Semper Fi Marines, Always faithful.

  • @mcintearj Thank you Doc! Semper Fi!

  • @mcintearj I'm a FMF corpsman too. We loved our Marines didnt we?

  • @mcintearj Thanks for being there, twice a corpsman came to my aid, there is a special place for you in our heart, every marine is stronger knowing you are there. You are a devil also, devil.

  • @mcintearj Ooohrah Mack!

  • @mcintearj : And I am a former Marine Corps staff sergeant who served as a door gunner with HMM-164 during Vietnam. God bless you and ALL Navy Corpsmen for your incredible bravery and outstanding service during hundreds of dangerous missions. There are many, many Marines and their families who owe you and your brothers their lives together. Semper fi.

  • @atursix There are no former Marines

  • @71leezippy I do believe that is irrelevant to the point.

  • @atursix God bless you

  • I think out of all five branches of the military, the Marines are my favorite. Its history, its traditions, and the sense of family that Marines have just give it a special place in America that the army, navy, air force, and coast guard cannot match.

  • Its hard to be humble..when you're the finest.. Semper Fi brothers!!

  • @MiaBellaGSD alright, have'nt heard that one before, thats just outright funny and true. Semper FI man

  • As a Canadian all I can say is "God bless the US Marines"

  • why is there a lump in my throat?

  • @remnant1978 Because you know the true meaning of freedom and you know the price the Marines pay for our freedom.

  • I am very pleased that many person making these films are actual Marines. Please respect and don't put any BS in this video. Thanks.

  • Great video! Love this song, especially in the movie, "The Last Castle". Well done!

  • I still have two years left of my four, but I know ill never forget those words. I am certantly proud to claim the title United States Marine, to defend my country from all enimies. Every time I hear my Hymn, Im reminded why I do it. For country, for family, and for self. SEMPER FI!!!!!!!

  • @hm008vaj we're not worth a bullet? your the worthless piece of shit searching around for videos of American soldiers just to sit behind your computer and type messages insulting the soldiers who fought and died to protect the world from a threat that has attacked every major world power in the world. you shouldn't be the one calling anyone anything unless its calling a soldier a hero. and don't even respond because I do NOT want to hear what ever your immature ass has to say about anything

  • @McMuffin103 fuck you u worthless bastard. keep sucking ur muffins! looking for videos to comment? you have no clue as to what my response to this retard was. and now u think ur mr badass sucking on his balls and trying to act tough on youtube. haha, how pathetic. too bad many soldiers dont agree with what the govmnt is going to war for huh? again fuck u and go tell someone who cares what the fuck u think.

  • Well done...

  • we have a patriotic show here o camp lejeune and thats ot the Marine's Hymn

  • @ MrSnowboarder73, I know how you feel. * years for me and it just... I can't explain. Melts... would that be aplicable? I love this version. I'm all for the OOM-PA marching Hymn, get me riled, but this one just stops me cold and yanks the tears out. Semper Fi.

  • I need to stop drinking and typing.

  • They are a marine first and a musician second, and that's the truth of it, because if they were not a marine first, then they would not be the marine band.

  • they are amazing great job marines! they did a great performance at my high school.

  • Wow,alot of comments on the Presidents Own. Fyi: some members of this unit have been to bootcamp and were field musicians until auditioning and making the Presidents Own. Several of the Band Officers and probably all of the Drum Majors have come up through the ranks starting at as maggots in boot camp.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually, the members of The President's Own are the only Marines without a secondary combat role and are exempt from recruit training, rifle quals, and the PFT. They do have to meet height/weight standards though. With that said, the drum majors ARE selected from fleet Marines, so they have had recruit training, MCT, etc.

  • I stand corrected! Thank you for the information, I figured they fell under the same guidelines for real MOS's... Wow, I never knew...

  • Yea bro, members of The President's Own in D.C. (shown here) are basically like members of the NY philharmonic, Chicago symphony - whatever, except they wear a uniform, and maintain USMC physical and grooming standards, enter with E6 pay/benefits no bootcamp/MCT. All other musicians in the Corps, must go to boot camp and MCT etc. and start as E1. How do I know this? I was a 5528 from 1998-2002. Semper Fi.

  • OOORAH!!!!!

  • These are some of the best musicians around and they're the best all Premier Service Bands. Three months of boot camp without the hours of practice a day these guys are used to would be a concern and a deterrent. I'm off to my 9 weeks at Great Lakes RTC next week to start up with the Navy band program and I know I'll loose some skills, at least temporarily. I'm excited though!

  • The 12 Marine Corps Division Band's do.

Not "The President's Own." However, they are given an option to do recruit training.

  • lol MCT...marine camping trip... ITB bitches

  • best miltary in the world,i think.

  • @PRESTON58CENT yeah in lieing

  • @PRESTON58CENT Semper Fi. Do or die

  • man these guys are so in tune you can hear the enharmonics come thru on almost every chord they play. awesome!

  • well guys the president own only has a specific so called season of playing which means there not marines thoughout the year but there r some and most are marines that report back to the duty station after the season is over

    semper fi

    first Battalion Bravo company orrahhhh

  • Hey SunDevilDog25.

I am a Marine and a bandsman at that. The President's Own is the only Service Band that does not have to go through Boot Camp.

Everyone of them starts at the Pay of E-6 and instead of crossed rifles on their insignia's you'll see a music lyre.

Yes they still have to adhere to Marine Corps Regulations but do not go through Marine Corps Recruit Training.

  • God bless you......from the son of a Marine!

  • Semper fi from a former Marine/ Once a Marine always a Marine, God Bless the Marine Corps.
