Well to a point. the only stimulas package the feds should be doing is massive tax cuts all across the board and money for roads and infrastructure. And this mess was all started by Clinton, not Bush. Clinton forced AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to give bad loans to people to not discriminate against them for being poor. Bush could do nothing to reverse this, because it was a law that was put into place. And because of Clinton's screwball policy, this happened on Bush's watch and (along with Hurricane Katrina and EVERYTHING else) Bush gets blamed for it. Bush was crucified for spending a dime, but Obama can spend trillions in a recession.

Good point but I disagree slightly. If the capital gains and corporate tax were cut tomorrow the dow would go up around 1000 points by Friday. So I think it would happen faster than some might think, but you are right on with what needed to be done. In the stimulus theres $198 million to compensate Filipino World War II veterans for their service. Most dont live in the United States. I'm sure that the few left will end up millionaires with that much money to split among them.
What about the vietnam veterans and other Us veterans? And, there is no money in the stimulus for the US Mexican border fence. Now, tell me who Obama is catering to? The answer, "Not the American people."

1. No money to finish US/Mexican border fence.
2. No money going to ICE. Seems like if ICE had more money there would be more busts at work places and this would create job openings.
3. No money going to E-verify.
One would think that with the drug wars happening along our border towns, the American people would be demanding that Obama address this issue in the stimulus package.

We've maintained a strong market economy without adopting socialism for almost a century. If you understood economics, you'd know that capitalism fails unless you regulate against market failures. That means educational loans, R&D, transportation, social security, and all the other "socialist" programs you'd eliminate.

Any big spending by government other than military, commerce and a court system is bad. Our government has no constitutional authority to be in the education, welfare, food stamp, healthcare industry. Our education system has gone down hill ever since the federal government took it over. The only good answer is a vastly smaller and less intrusive federal government.

Well to a point. the only stimulas package the feds should be doing is massive tax cuts all across the board and money for roads and infrastructure. But no money for corporations or individuals or meaningless projects like ACORN ETC. And we definetely need to stop this theft of americans money to give to the UN and other countries especially to kill babies in other countries.

Kentucky's ice storms are a natural disaster, now FEMA has its own issues, but we can't blame EVERYTHING on the President-the economy is one of the biggest problems because its affecting the whole nation and its an international problem-Obama is not trying to "scare" us into supporting the stimulus, he's simply telling us the facts, and what will happen if we don't do something fast....there are sooooo many issues going on but they all can' t be handled at once....

It was a failurer. FDR prolonged the depression for years. It was WW2 that got us out. I read the real history of the depression. The FCC, Social Security, and other government programs did not get us of of the depression.
Like I wrote, if big government programs help make a great economy the USSR would be the most powerful nation on Earth.
