Can't go wrong this watch, accurate, reliable, durable, and does not break the bank. These watches, the barebone versions, are about $50.00. IMHO, the flag ship casio models are the 5600, 6600, 6900 and 2300. These are the models I see Police, Firemen, and the Military use a lot.
I do enjoyed the review, and I didn't notice that 5025, the light thing, it's amazing!!
I have the 5600E
and the 5600C stainless steel, screwback and serial number on it, but the bezel is missing and also a new band is required, so, do you have any idea where I can find both things?.
And Also, do you have a "Old Stock" Casio models? like the DW-260 or DW-310? That will be interesting too
You helped me about what the "REM" function was, I thought that REM function was something sort of schyncronizing the watch automatically. But now, I gotta say, it's a very silly function, a waste of battery, anyway, thanks again for the review, and sooner I'll be uploading my own vintage Casio collection.
The DW-5300 and DW-5700, like the DW-5600C, also use the 691/901 modules.
If anyone out there is looking for a G-Shock that is both rugged, and easy to read at a quick glance, I would suggest tracking one of these down. They pop up on Ebay all the time! ;-)
If you want more features, and the EL backlight, go with the DW-5600E. At $30-ish, they are a tremendous value.
Another thing. The 691/901 modules drop right into the newer DW-5600E cases with ZERO hassles..
The 691/901 modules in older DW-5600C are far easier to read than the 1545 module in the current DW-5600E. The diffence in clarity between the older and newer modules should be noted. The older modules are far superior in legibility. Their silvery background and ink black digits help your eyes pick up the time much quicker than on the newer produced modules. The new 5600E's have a dull grey background which the digits seem to blend into..
Great review and you have a very cool way of reviewing watches. Just got myself the GWM5600 1ER. Would be nice to see a review on that one Doug, its a great watch. Thanks again.
Thanks Lee, I definitely do enjoy doing them. Unfortunately I don't own that model, however, I did a review on it's negative version with Composite bracelet that go over the same features.
Ive heard the same comments. I love my analogs too, but I always explain that Digitals have many more capabiities that you could never put into an analog, thats why these companies seem to be integrating digital features into their analogs.
The Waveceptors are great. I set my non atomics to these....go for it.
This is certainly one of the best videos I´ve watched about these wonderful G-Shock classic style timepieces. That´s great information, in fact I´m interested in buying the DW-5600E.
It´s a pity that Casio decided to delete the Dual Time feature on this model, as well as the use of screws to secure the back, instead of the screw-down stainless steel back. Anyway, it looks like these gems still have a good alarm buzzer, as opposed to other models of the Casio line-up. Thank you!!!
A true classic Duncan. If you like features, you can check out the GW-M5600 I reviewed the negative model, they now released the normal one in America. Definitely worth a check. I personally wish they wouldnt just release the Stainless Steel versions of these watches as limited releases and go back to Steel on them all.
¿what do you think about of the different armed models in different countries? the model made in thailand or the model made in malasia,¿they have the same quality control?
I believe they all have specific guidelines they have to follow. I've never heard of anyone getting any probelms with these watches coming from any of the factories.
Awesome comparison... and journey through time. It's hard to tell from the video, but are the bezels on each of these the same shape, or are some more... octangular (sp*).
on the 5600 series, on the CDT can you set the hours, minutes, and seconds???
I'm looking at a dw5600ms-1 and it says that the CDT can be set by seconds and hours, but doesnt mention the minutes?

I work on welltesting. This is the only deathproof watch available in the world... Screwback 901 with lithium.
Iconic item, like levi's, zippo, magic tree or MK1 gti.
Outstanding.

You can find DW-5600C bezels and bands on Ebay. Also, you can still get those parts directly from Casio USA by giving them a call...

thrasher3567 3 years ago
I think each has their own perks. I like the classics because of the steel case, I like the new ones for their features...

nice to see people interested in digital watches. can you believe most people I know think digital watches are for children who can't read time?
also, i've been thinking about buying a casio, a casio waveceptor WV300DA-7A. what do you think?
