  • Doesn't matter the category of Ike, it was extremely powerful and did a LOT of damage and there were many deaths as well. Those 3 weeks my daughter and I were in Austin were not really "enjoyable" but I sure as hell was not going to be here but coming home to actually see my home untouched was a miracle from God though. The reason it did so much damage and there were tornadoes and such was the eye of Ike was enormous and it was all over the news, every channel, if you were lucky to get a signal.

  • This is why i wouldn´t like to live near the ocean, ´cause always happens this kinds of stuffs, i´d rather lived inside the country not in the edge

  • This could of been a lot worse. To me this is more of a wake up call for Houston.

  • @Avatarblackwolf,how could u say that?Katrina was a cat.5.unlike Ike,it destroyed everyone's homes and people didn't have a place to live.so of course u wouldn't feel like that bcuz obviously u haven't been through it.

Let me guess,u from Houston?not trying to be mean to u,you are untitled to your own opinion.

  • 2 million people no lights or running water

    people fighting over ice

    Ike destroyed Houston

  • I agree with yosefskato I was playin beer pong in league city waitin for him to come ashore. Driving around in it was fun i wish I would have taken videos but I was too busy tryin to avoid falling trees lol literally

  • Hurricanes are fun XD Everyone is out in stores, no school, no work it just has a good feeling xD

of course not so good for those that lost stuff..

AFter Ike I had no Power for 10 hours..

  • After Ike i had no power for three weeks

  • Comment removed

  • @45 seconds... all the windows busted out... raining glass!!! ouch...

  • hehe i have a street light in my room. and my street sign lol. yea...

  • @cdryahoo haha same here. it goes great with my new wall....yeah lol

  • @bluecruise the sign was pretty big and the light was heavy lol. I was gonna walk with it all the way home. but i didnt wanna look like an idiot so i got my truck

  • After Hurricane Ike The good citizens of Galveston got together, got organised, and got busy. By contrast the "good citizens" of New Orleans did nothing but cry and wait for the federal government bureaucracy to mismanage, mishandle, and spend untold millions and then be soundly and roundly criticized for their half-hearted effort

Just proves you can get more accomplished with a hammer in your hand than a crack pipe.

  • i think you're my soul mate

  • lets get together :)

  • ehh.. I live in texas. barely 2 miles north of houston so I don't know everything about Galveston but the hurricane still affected my life. But you have to understand that hurricane katrina did considerably more damage than Ike did. In new orleans, they had levee failures, 1800 total deaths whereas Ike claimed around 34 lives. Not to mention Katrina's intensity peaked right on top of louisiana. Ike's peak wasnt even on the continent. Im sure you can see how it may have been more difficult for LA

  • just thought i should mention that katrina's intensity did NOT peak over louisiana. It actually peaked in the gulf of mexico at 175 mph winds.

  • @Avatarblackwolf Dude I could not agree with you more

  • @Avatarblackwolf roflkopter.....dotn forget they bitched about the free mre's

  • @Avatarblackwolf you are an idiot, plain and simple. Katrina devasted those people..how can you take a hammer in hand to a home that isnt standing? How dare you imply that they are on crack. Its comments like yours that really show how racism is still looming over us today. I hope you never have to go through what the people of New Orleans had to go through, not only were they treated as less than Americans but they were cast as low-lifes. Nobody deserves that

  • @jobuck87 you are an asshole plain and simple. They had a 4-5 day warning that storm was coming. Did they understand to leave? NO! Did you see the story on the news how they were shooting at the helicopters that were trying to land to bring food, water etc?how can you take a hammer in hand to a home that isnt standing? You rebuild the house, dont stand & cry & whine about it! Fix it! 12.27.10 we had over 15in of snow dumped on us, what did we do? got busywith the shovels & snow blowers.

  • @jobuck87 We did not wait for the Gob'ment, we took care of it, you should have been here for the blizzard of 1978, did we wait for the Gob'ment? NO! I was raised to take care of it myself. Sounds like you were not.

Oh and please tell me what I said that is racism? Did I say anything at all about race? No, liberal fuck sticks like you always play the race card. Now please go fuck yourself with your deck of race cards.

  • @Avatarblackwolf --your comments and your language alone speaks volumes of the kind of racist piece of crap that you are..purposely spelling government as gob'ment...like people cannot see through that racist garbage you are spewing..tell you what, since you seem to think that these people are beneath you why dont you catch the next space shuttle to the moon and live there? BTW having a warning does not mean that you can always get away, some of them had no choice but to stay...idiot

  • @jobuck87 you strated on me fuck stick, dont like it dont read it. You call me a piece of crap and idiot

that makes you racist. So please tell me again what I said that was racist? Go fuck yourself.

  • @Avatarblackwolf...wtf??calling you an idiot and a piece of crap makes me a racist?? are you mental? nevermind dont answer that. I see how educated you are by your comments and the fact that your vocabulary is less than miniscule. I guess it is the inbreeding right? Say what you want, think what you want, its your right as an American. I wont read nor respond to anything else you have to say.

  • @jobuck87 I said these people were on crack and you called me a racist? So you call me a idiot and a piece of crap so you are a racist.....and a dumbass.

  • I was here and it was awful, absolutely awful. Around 3 am I heard a whistling sound over my roof. Shortly afterwards a 70 ft pine fell on the back of my house. It made a hole in the ceiling of a bedroom and looked like an evil demonic finger protruding into the house. The rain came after and I was scrambling for buckets. No power for two whole weeks - bugs came into the house -all I could hear were the neighbors generators making a racket -too hot to sleep -it was pure hell!

  • that's what happened to my grandma

  • The weather when Ike hit was freaking awesome.

    The aftermath was anything but.

  • @ProneSteewdeeos idk man the shroom fields where gourious helpin people was fun no power ment little police presence

  • I feel everyone's pain here. It's not good to have a hurricane.

  • Ike was a seriously fierce storm! I wish I lived where you live DHK59..my house flooded and my part of town had serious damage with trees on houses so it was not back to normal until about January and my neighbors got back into their house at the end of June (like 2 months ago). There is a house two blocks over that was totally destroyed when two trees fell on it. The one across the street had their chimney torn off by a tree. It was a really wild night!

  • well, i live in sugarland n it was so crazy! can u like belive a like huge trampoline flying into my backyard 4rm my neighbors? well ya dat happened! the noise n da wind was the worst part! by like 6:30 me n my friend could basically fly!

  • With myself being from Dallas I wouldnt know what that was like, but I have friends in Houston that decided to wait it out. They used their neighbors (who left) generator for power and their school was out for weeks

  • I remember hearing about Houston getting hit pretty hard from Ike. I'm glad I decided not to move to Houston.

  • eh houston didint get that bad damange it just power all over the place was out for the most a month and the ctiy was back to normal by mid octobor

  • It was bad for us, and people are still trying to get on there feet after Ike it, some of us were out of power for 3 weeks or even longer!!! plus it was a mad house trying to get water, food, because there was no power!!, Ike was pretty bad!!!, and I don't want to see a storm like that again, before you comment on things you don't know!!!, do some rereach first before you say!!! " Houston did not get that bad of damange"!!! if you don't live in Houston or Galvistan, then you have no idea!!.

  • i did not get fuckin power till the middle of October in Northwest Houston And my parents beach house in jamica beach was wiped out as well around 1 in the mornin on Ella Bld i had to haull a pick up truck out of the street becuase they got stuck tryin to get home not to mention dumb asses tryin to brake in to my house early in the morning i been threw a worse hurricane try hurricane mitch so dont tell me anything

  • Dude, I'm from Houston. And I was there, when the storm hit. My family and I, decided to wait the storm out. Trust me, Houston got hit really bad...along with Galveston. The scariest part of the Hurricane, was the noise the winds were making. It was so creepy. Also, when the storm hit, my apartment was literally shaking. I aint go lie, I was scared shitless.

  • so did i hauld out a truck during the hurcciane i was kind of scared becuase water was raising very qucikly and i ended up screwed up my ratiator when i got done and they try braking in to my house around 5 in the mornin

  • Aww..there's my old school UHD.

  • I got the bad side

  • I was sleeping when it hit and I was in Sugar Land.

  • 1 week and 3 days I think we were out.

  • I lost power for 2 weeks and 5 days and the next day we got power I had to go to the hospital!!!, it was not fun!!.

  • Yeah same here bro, it was a nightmare. Hopefully not the hurricane come here again :'(. September is unlucky month for houston and is approaching so fast....

    Rita and Ike what's next....

  • lost power for 1 week at 5 days lol

  • lost power for almost 2 weeks for me, tryin to sleep that night was hell.

  • 7 days for me.

  • i had power 2 days later it sucked ass but most of h town was without power a week or so

  • ha yea rite i was with out power 4 like bou 3 weeks

  • how come power in down town is still on

  • Generators....?

  • i was in pearland 77584 our fence fell down and we didnt have power for 2 weeks

  • ike got us good

  • houstone was dead that time

  • Did the skatepark got full of water?

  • 13 days it affectied me

  • allpeople wanna be gansta and mex want props

  • Hurricane ike still cant stop Hugeston!!!

  • 1 year without power here...damn...

  • that's cuz u did not pay the bill lol..jk! :)

  • I think it also depends on if you stop and how fast you drive.

  • i want to swim in that

i had power the next morning and only our fence fell over

  • I was filming the damages of my house*after ike passed* and the cops confiscatied my camera.X-x Luckily I had the other filechip, with the videos I have now.

  • I keep having this dream that a huge hurricane is going to hit houston, weird thing is that the hurricane formed in 30 min and was going to make landfall on Houston in 1 hour, category 6. Everyone was going crazy and was trying to leave. The winds were breaking windows before the hurricane made landfall. Now this is the really weird part,,, my mom had the same dream the same night.

  • It doesn't take long at all to get from the center of town to Galveston ... the guy that said 2 hrs is an idiot.

  • Galveston is only 60 miles from my house Westheimer and Fondren. Not two hours

  • i heard a tornado in my neighboorhood

  • This was the worst 3 weeks of my life ... even with a generator ...

  • ay f*@#k u a**hole....people died here so have some respect!

  • That's classy. I'm sure you are safe and sound in your skanky moms mobile home eating your fatty foods purchased with food stamps, but they are soft foods because that's all your can chew with your last four teef. Come out and pussboy.

  • you watch a movie about hurricanes and you see the weirdest text comments. WHAT???? Would hate to live in a hurricane area, but enjoy watching the vid. Pray everyone was safe.

  • it waz very exciting to see it in real life even though if it was very bad

  • im not american but i hope that some of the people wont talk like shit about them... they are also human like us so spare them! and pray for our safety.

  • I dont understand why if you american people are suffering your are still being like that racist with other people, you dont like thinking, you are selfish...

  • racist with who? Yeah there are some racists morons in america, but i guess your country, mexico, must also be racist, since they get hurricanes too... we aren't the only ones that are selfish either(see: humanity). And not thinking? yeah you mexicans can talk about not thinking "lets go to america and give them problems instead of solving our problems here" >.>

  • omg man feel sorry for them u know waht i hope u get a hurricane and see how it feels

  • You think your funny?

I can name you as many major hurricane that hit Mexico, inland and coastline, than we'll see who gets the last laughs.

  • I just got electricity TODAY!!! after 17 days. I FUCKING HATE HURRICANES!!

  • @gerryelchido I got mine back in 3

  • @gerryelchido It's not hurricanes I hate, it's the aftermath.

  • And Ike was a catagory 1! What if it was 5? It gave me somthing to think about here in Houston.

  • actually it was a category 2 almost a 3

  • Some areas in Houston recivied category 1 force winds.

  • It was 3 actually

  • @unconditionalluv i thought it was a 3

  • to be honest, katrina makes ike look like nothing.

i rode out katrina and we had worse.but i hope everyone who rode out ike is coping with the aftermath.

  • You're looking at video of Houston which is 65 miles inland, Ike wiped places like Gilchrist completely off the map. Educate yourself some time, Katrina and Ike did very similar damage to the areas where they made landfall.

  • 65 miles no like 150 it takes like to hours to get to galveston

  • Downtown Houston to Galveston Island is 1 hour at the most, it's about 65 miles from downtown to the seawall as the crow flies. Check it on mapquest, it's nowhere near 150 miles.

  • dats downtown im from alief and ike fucked us up bad and from here to galveston is like two hours

  • ahh i just got power today!

    2 weeks!

  • unfortunately I am still without power and water... going on day 14...But it was a neat storm. I'll have a video up from my house whenever i find my camera.

  • lol.... s.a town represent

  • so whats it 2 u do u have a problem?!

  • thanks to God nothing happend to my house but i went with out power for 11 days it sucked i was so bored!!!

  • so who cares if you were bored.

  • so who cares if you're a dick?

  • Trust me, living in sewage seems far better a choice for me and my family, then ever living within 5,000 miles from scumbags like you!!!!

    Love Ya Houstonians!

  • I know what they mean. And you should too. We depend on power. Oh, and don't forget about the food! $ down the drain. The fridge still smells wierd. I need some baking soda.

  • no one forced you to throw it away

eat your food and do not be a spoiled complainer

  • And get sick. I don't think so. In that cae you can pay my medical bills and funeral services, cuz I may have died.

  • that is because you waited a month to eat it

  • it was more then likely a cat3 at landfall

  • Uhhhh I Went 11 Days Without Power

  • I goh power saturday =] amen! buh yet da cable doesnt work.. Accordin to Comcast, dey dont have power =\

  • this video sucked ass. i have seen far more damage just on my street!

  • Glen Cambell song... Good one. We just got our power back yesterday, Thank GOD. We were out of power 10day. I went through Alicia in 83' and it was 10 days then too. I pray everyone out there is doing ok. We Texans are tough and everyone pulled together the day after and cleaned up. It was realy cool see everyone pull together. Peace Out.

  • ya i have a firend who lost power for like 13 days so dafter the first few days they went over to my other friends house

  • I don't have power. I made this comment at my jobs computer. Acres Home got some big, trashed out trees.

  • I'm so glad FEMA has come to our rescue! I've been without power for a week. It's all water underneath the bridge, and my life is now back to normal now.

  • Where were you that FEMA helped? Oh maybe in New Orleans....but not in Texas

  • In 1983 hurricane Alicia I had no power for 3 days living in the woodland heights. For hurricane Ike it was 10 days with no power living in the north side of town. I'm thankful it wasn't worst then is was.

  • I was lucky 12 hours without power

  • Yes you were, I like 7 days without power!

    It was awful!

  • 12 days here. it SUCKED!

  • 22 days where I lived. And I live near Hobby. It sucked big time! I feel your pain to when it happened.

  • we were so lucky... only 16 hours without power

  • I survied ten days without power, with a ten month old baby and a a 3 year old.

  • galveston,oh galveston.I still hear your sea winds blowin.

  • So where is Oprah and all the folks who screamed racism was the reason for the NewOrleans mess? Where are all the fundraisers to to help this state? The people of Texas are devastated just as bad- even worse given most are not on the government dole, and the silence by the very people who blamed the aftermath on 'white' government is deafening. Isn't is obvious, that sometimes, depending on where you live, is more to "blame" than any faction of government?

  • thank you it seems all the media was worried about was a good look for them..."see what we id" type attitude...I just got lights Friday, the 19th, but there are lots of people still without, where are the concerts and fundraisers for Texas?

  • You can not compare Ike to Katrina. Katrina was not to blame for the devistation in New Orleans, the fact the Levy broke was. If the levy had held Katrina would not even be talked about anymore. I feel bad for anyone who lost their home in New Orleans but they are the ones who opted not to pay to fix the levy. People in Galveston build a wall just for that reason , and Ike slammed right over the wall. People on Crystal Beach, that's where the real loss in life and prop was , not Houston.

  • I think you mistook what I said, I was not coming Ike to Katrina in terms of devastation, they were both unbelievable...as for my comment I wanted to know why celebrities and the like did not jump on board with concerts and what not to raise money for those folk in our most devastated areas in Texas...where was the media?

  • In Texas we can take care of ourselves. We really should become a republic again.

  • you missed the point.

  • It took a week to get power back on in this area. A crew from California came and got it up for us. Everyone , make sure you thank the guys who came from all over to help us out.

  • took me 9 days!

  • We actually had power back on Thursday but some dweeb in Centerpoint failed to flick the right switch and not until I called to tell them I saw the crew out working that day and all the uninhabited areas around us had lights did they check and figure it out. Oops. So in two hours after I called, we got lights. At least the neighbors got out their grills and frozen meat and we had steaks, ribs , sausage and all kinds of cuts all through the wait! Ate great this week and didn't need MRE's.

  • i just now got it back but it was kind of funny.

my parents were pissed when the lights came back on because they just bought a new generater to replace our other one that had blown out and doesn't work.

not 30 mins. after hucking it up then the lights came on.

  • ROFL, dat mus suk. At least its over. Man, that was a rough Friday night and Saturday morning

  • true. but we dont always have em we mostly have em in the summer. and yea this summer was a huge fire. and no rain. =( thats wat i hate bout cali no rain in summer no snow in winter.

  • sosomomonono , there are no humble county in tx.

  • Humble Tx, Harris County! I live in Dallas Co

  • im glad i dont live in texas! i live in cali so i never was in a hurricane. and i also heard that another hurricane is coming! its called um Josephine i think.

  • Well Californias are moving in by the truckload everyday. So you can stay in CA if you want. I am so glad I don't live in CA. You guys are constantly having fires and earthquakes. I rather have the rain.

  • Well Californias are moving in by the truckload everyday. So you can stay in CA if you want. I am so glad I don't live in CA. You guys are constantly having fires and earthquakes. I rather have the rain.

  • fuck still got no power! running on the generator............., anyone know when were getting power in humble county, shit we need a/c. check out the footage i got on my channel

  • I got power and water 10 minutes ago... The crews at CenterPoint Energy have done a hell of a job around the city. thanks to all involved.

  • I got power two hours ago. God Bless Texas.

  • yea me 2

  • lost power around 3 AM saturday morning got it back last night around 11

  • just got power in alief(south west houston) as of 3pm 9/19/08

  • Just got my power back about 2 hours ago. Amazing. I live just 15 minutes north of harris county. I have only had the radio to keep me informed. This is the first I've seen of Houston as I have not ventured further than Humble since the Hurricane hit. You guys should see stuff on the outskirts. What you see in this video is NOTHING. I'm talking houses crushed, trees knocked down every other house, power lines and transformers on the streets of small neighborhoods. My area got ravaged.

  • sounds like you live in kingwood/new caney area? i live in porter, we just got power last night

  • i just got power too i am so happy to be on this computer being in that hurricane was not good no power for five days for me and no water for 2 days and it was not good good this its over and good luck with people who doesnt have power.

  • Army Combat Team to Train for Homeland Scenarios Under NorthCom

Army Times | Training for homeland scenarios has already begun at Fort Stewart.

  • I'm sorry to hear about everyone who got caught up in this. Damn Ike. >/

Does anyone know how close to Frisco, Texas this got? Info please, thank you.

  • God Bless you all. I live in Brazoria, Tx, and we were truly lucky!

  • I still don't have power!! I still have a home, so I don't mind...

  • i JUST got power..... 20 mins ago!!!!

  • I just got power last night.

  • Me tooo!

  • And i got power back about five hours ago.YOU never know how important something truly is until you don't have it.We went without power for 5 and one half days.I was glad when things retuned to normal.Never take things for GRANTED!!

  • Woooo! IKE was nothin'! I live in Houston and was without power from friday to sunday, bad weekend. But now it's all good, besides the food rationing we have to do.

  • All my family is in Houston, Pasadena and Spring... anyone know how Pasadena fared? I can't get in touch with anyone there.

This is like watching videos of a warzone, its insane. I grew up around T.C. Jester and Ella... right on the bayou. Is it still estimated to be two weeks until power is back?

  • Mayor White has been on top of things when it comes to shortening the estimated time its going to take power to be restored. Last I heard on the radio, Centerpoint shortened it to two weeks, and Entergy still has the 4wk estimation. (Entergy got hit hard.) Pasadena got hit good, but it wasn't horrible. We've all had a curfew, and cell phones are sporadic when it comes to reception. If you can send your family a text, they should be able to reply.

  • pasadena did alright not a whole lot of damage I just got power yesterday 9/15 thank god, with houston humidity and no power it was hard

  • I'm still without power at my house (posting from work). What humidity? It's nice and cool right now with low humidity. Now after Rita it sucked without power. That was hot and humid.

  • Some power has been restored. I live in the Bay area--eye went right over my house--no power as of today--I45 closed just south of me(518)--we evacuated thurs 09-11 to Bryan--still in Bryan--most are leaving area now due to no power, water and sewage issues--food supply is low and FEMA is running out...

  • I feel bad for all the people that live there Hurricanes must be scary. I hope that everyone was okay.

  • Why feel bad? I live in Houston and folks here should accept what can potentionally happen here. I have and I'm willing to take the consequences. Screw FEMA and all the other help crap. Pack enough food, water, and gas before hand to make due. A little self reliance is a amazing thing.
