the director said in an interview that they originally wanted to use "More Than a Feeling" by Boston but Boston wanted way too much $ for the rights. Actually, I think "Don't Stop Believing" pretty much made this whole scene perfect.

I, like many others on here, love the perfect mix of the background music and raw emotion in this scene, all the actions are so well timed, like @Missesgimmekisses said. It's the way they stare so deeply into eachothers eyes and the delicate way Aileen bends down but is still cautious even though we all know Selby wants nothing more than to be with her. Then when their lips first lock it's... paradise. I've not watched this movie in ages but I think I may go watch that right now. Don't Stop \m/

I love how that when the music starts to build around 1:11 you can really see the intensity that Aileen was feeling at that exact moment.The way that she stares deeply into Selby's eyes,it was like she was searching for any glimmer of hope of someone that could possibly love her.The Journey song goes great with that scene also,with such meaningful lyrics like ''People living just to find emotion" those are some powerful words and they really fit perfectly with this movie.

One of the most heartbreaking moments in the film for me. It reminded me that Wuornos wasn't a monster (at least not completely), she was a person, who had feelings like the rest of us. It made the movie harder to watch, but so much better for it. It's not meant to be easy, not if its real.

@ djkroo I completely agree... the saddest thing about this story is that Aileen turned out like that after a life time of horrendous abuse, all she ever wanted was to be loved & given a chance... This scene is beautiful because it shows her having a little ray of light... I fell in love with that song after hearing it in this film... So poignant!
