@jrobuck81 Yeah I saw that before, if super snake owners would invest more $ in some M/T ET streets or some type of sticky rear tire (since they have enough $ for a modern muscle car with 700 hp) it would be a different story. That super snake will keep pulling on a GTR all the way past 180 mph, it's just getting the power hooked up on launch, that's the issue.

It's not even in the GTR's price range (plus the GTR has AWD while the gt500 spins its tires halfway down the drag strip on stock tires). That 800 hp GTR is cool and all, but street car or not, the super cobra jet, which is closer to the gtr's price range, can run 8's in the quarter and do wheelies. Though if I had 100 grand to play with, i'd supercharge a 2012 Mustang GT and save 65k

They did do a "Shelby gt500 Cobra KR" a few years ago, as they did in the 60's, but a 2011 gt500 is just that. A gt500. Since we're talking modified GTR's and such, I can pick up a new 5.0 for under $30k and have it supercharged for less than the cost of a BRAKE JOB for a GTR....

I never said a spercharged 5.0 (supercharger kit being the only mods) will run 8's, but it'll run 10's on around 10 PSI (around 600 rwhp), very respectable. The stock 5.0 crank and rods are forged so if an owner switched to forged pistons as well, that 5.0 can handle 15, 20, even 30 PSI, and for every PSI of boost into the 5.0 you get another 25 hp. Badass

@altimgamr HAHAHAHA...apparently you have never seen what it takes to make a 03-04 cobra run like this...Trust me it isnt More than the cars value...try around 3500-4k tops...a simple kenne bell swap and some exhaust and you have a insane fast mustang...so quite trying to make it like a cobra is hard to make fast...they arent. I love german cars but they are overengineered and expensive to make fast...this cobra all together probably cost 35k with mods...Gtr got beat..deal with it.
I agree...stock the GTR is a better setup car...but it has several years of technology..and better can be defined by cost spent to go fast also..I like the GTR's but give me a set of slicks and the extra 50k in my pocket for mods on a terminator..it all comes down to preference. either way...sick sick sick.

Noo thats the message im trying to explaine to you in this whole comment page.. For some cars you don't need big pockets, only bpu mods like boost controllers, downpipes, etc.. My supra only cost me like 300dollar, it had no engine so I bought a frontcut for 500dollar, next was tuning, after 2000dollar in modifications it made that 415hp at the wheels.. But have fun looking at posters from cars you can never buy, in the meantime i will kill overpriced exotics with my ghetto modded car:p
GTR ran 6x to get that ring time with a professional driver,and still come up far short, the Z-06 and ZR-1 had good drivers, the GTR lost to the ZR-1 in all areas, i mean not even close

A GTR will cost you 70000, spend that money on a 15k cobra and you can rape the gtr all day long.. @heartboy86 yeah it was tuned, but at this stage is isn't cheap to tune a nissan gtr because their are no aftermarket parts available, other cars are much easier to tune like a svt cobra, supra, or a 3000gt. Those cars are really good platforms..

a g37 infitini.. Those cars are just slow pigs, even a simple civic with a b18 swap can take them.. Im nog interested in nurburgring facts and all that stuff.. I just say that on the streets a r35 is not a fast car, it has no potential. And when you mod your own car, with parts from hks or greddy, it can be just as reliable.. My father once owned supra.. It made 678 whp without block mods, it raped just about anything on the streets, and he drove it for like 4 years without any problems.

People , understand that the Mustang and the Gtr are not in the same class . The Mustang is made for casual speed fan , while the Gtr is made for hardcore speed nutcase . GTR is simply awsome .
Mustang had KB Supercharger, for its price the Mustangs are Amazing and the looks are very powerful, with the extra money u save compared to Nissan GTR u can make the car fly

I don't think the reason the Cobra "appeared" ahead was because he got the jump... he rolled forward less than a foot and then they both took off at the same time, this Cobra is just faster than this GTR

And why do you use the typical nurgburgring argument.. Normal people don't even race their 85k cars on the nurburgring or circuits. The nurgburgring is just an instrument for car-makers to show their cars potential.. Real braces for normal people take place at the strip or street.

The GTR is just to heavy, has to much gadgets which you don't need, and the engine isn't bulletproof.. Their are much better/cheaper cars which perform better at the quarter mile..

Would Cobra fans give the ricer excuse saying "take it to the 1/4 mile and we'll see who wins."? Fact is, the GTR is a rally car and was designed for that purpose, much like the WRXs and Evos. Most folks just race it in the 1/4 since it's easier. And obviously, the Mustang was built for the 1/4.

A AWD GTR is a crazy fast car but why is everyone crying when they get beat..not so much in this video..but look up GTR vs 03 or 04 cobra. you find 10 - 1 videos of those cobras destroying a GTR. from a dig or roll...GTR's are sick,but a 03-04 cobra with its IRS and a suspension kit and some underhood goodies can tackle GTR's all day. for less

this is pretty good and fair race. Pro's and Con's to both cars here. GTR awd to get it off the line but with the turbo lag so it takes longer to get into boost, and the twin screw to get the cobra the low end torque but doesn't have the traction like the GTR. It would be fun to see them run the 1320.

@jrobuck81 Yeah I saw that before, if super snake owners would invest more $ in some M/T ET streets or some type of sticky rear tire (since they have enough $ for a modern muscle car with 700 hp) it would be a different story. That super snake will keep pulling on a GTR all the way past 180 mph, it's just getting the power hooked up on launch, that's the issue.

It's not even in the GTR's price range (plus the GTR has AWD while the gt500 spins its tires halfway down the drag strip on stock tires). That 800 hp GTR is cool and all, but street car or not, the super cobra jet, which is closer to the gtr's price range, can run 8's in the quarter and do wheelies. Though if I had 100 grand to play with, i'd supercharge a 2012 Mustang GT and save 65k

They did do a "Shelby gt500 Cobra KR" a few years ago, as they did in the 60's, but a 2011 gt500 is just that. A gt500. Since we're talking modified GTR's and such, I can pick up a new 5.0 for under $30k and have it supercharged for less than the cost of a BRAKE JOB for a GTR....

I never said a spercharged 5.0 (supercharger kit being the only mods) will run 8's, but it'll run 10's on around 10 PSI (around 600 rwhp), very respectable. The stock 5.0 crank and rods are forged so if an owner switched to forged pistons as well, that 5.0 can handle 15, 20, even 30 PSI, and for every PSI of boost into the 5.0 you get another 25 hp. Badass

My supra only cost me like 300dollar, it had no engine so I bought a frontcut for 500dollar, next was tuning, after 2000dollar in modifications it made that 415hp at the wheels.. a g37 infitini.. Those cars are just slow pigs, even a simple civic with a b18 swap can take them.. Im nog interested in nurburgring facts and all that stuff.. I just say that on the streets a r35 is not a fast car, it has no potential. And when you mod your own car, with parts from hks or greddy, it can be just as reliable.. My father once owned supra.. It made 678 whp without block mods, it raped just about anything on the streets, and he drove it for like 4 years without any problems.

I don't think the reason the Cobra "appeared" ahead was because he got the jump... he rolled forward less than a foot and then they both took off at the same time, this Cobra is just faster than this GTR

@heartboy86 I didnt meant the last gen camaro:s, but the 92-02 ls1 versions, they don't cost 75k, maybe 10, and if you invest another 10k in that camaro, or a similar car like the supra, you have a p700 ass raper. And why do you use the typical nurgburgring argument.. Normal people don't even race their 85k cars on the nurburgring or circuits. The nurgburgring is just an instrument for car-makers to show their cars potential.. Real braces for normal people take place at the strip or street.

The GTR is just to heavy, has to much gadgets which you don't need, and the engine isn't bulletproof.. Their are much better/cheaper cars which perform better at the quarter mile..

@pwkid Not that I'm defending anyone, but look at this from another point of view. What if these cars raced some laps at the track and the GTR smoked it. Would Cobra fans give the ricer excuse saying "take it to the 1/4 mile and we'll see who wins."? Fact is, the GTR is a rally car and was designed for that purpose, much like the WRXs and Evos. Most folks just race it in the 1/4 since it's easier. And obviously, the Mustang was built for the 1/4.

@heartboy86 Not stock. but this thing might have 2k in mods. a 03-04 cobra can be put to the 600hp mark with very little effort and be extreamly reliable. A AWD GTR is a crazy fast car but why is everyone crying when they get beat..not so much in this video..but look up GTR vs 03 or 04 cobra. you find 10 - 1 videos of those cobras destroying a GTR. from a dig or roll...GTR's are sick,but a 03-04 cobra with its IRS and a suspension kit and some underhood goodies can tackle GTR's all day. for less

this is pretty good and fair race. Pro's and Con's to both cars here. GTR awd to get it off the line but with the turbo lag so it takes longer to get into boost, and the twin screw to get the cobra the low end torque but doesn't have the traction like the GTR. It would be fun to see them run the 1320.
