i saw these yesterday and the first thing i said about them was they sounded just like foals. but overall they have got some individuality about themselves, every band is different in their own way, plus they were good live.
the tall guitarist from minaars was in a band called tired irie that were on the same label as foals and foals first gig was supporting tired irie, they used to play together alot. foals were at minaars gig the other night in nottingham watching them
Actually Foals first gig was supporting the singer from Minnaars old band who according to him sounded a lot like Foals first album. At the time of the gig Foals were still playing with Andrew Mears and sounded more like the Try This On Your Piano single than anything from Antidotes. Just to let you know.
tbh, think of how similar loads of bands are nowadays, just because foals are supposedly seen as 'individual' everyone has a go at minnaars when theyre not even that similar, if you really think they are that similar you're obviously a genre scenester and have no idea about the actual form of this type of music
ohhh you losers, stop slating minnaars, yes they have taken influence from a band... a fecking decent one at that! i saw them at that set and was blown away and besides you hear their other stuff this song isnt that representive of their other music, they are awsome no argument. if in a club and you hear any of their music and you dont dance your a fecking loser.... minnaars are wicked period :)
c,mon both foals and minnaars are brilliant. i dont think its fair that you would put minnaars down because you would describe them as foalsy. they are two completely different bands with a couple of similarities.
Minnaarrs may be a bit similar to Foals but I prefer them. They are an extremely exciting band live and are not at all arrogant. That is just their stage act. Off stage they are nice, down to earth guys.
I've seen this band twice and they are extremely exciting live. They show some similarities to Foals yes - but I prefer them tbh. And they are not at all arrogant - they might seem to be full of themselves on stage (that's what makes them entertaining!) but off stage they are very nice and down to earth guys.
foals are quite similar i prefer minnaars. but the main differnece foals blend math rock sounds with afro-beat world music influences. and minaars tend to blend the same math rocky sound with more techno/dance influences.
@thrillhouses My brother has a familiar haircut. Means he is a member of Foals?

how on earth people can say this is ripping off foals is just beyond me. how can people compare the two just because there is a disco beat???
and the singer dances nothing like yannis. for 1 he does not have a guitar!!!!
i imagine only people who have no clue about alternative music could compare them

foals was started in 06, these guys in 08.
they are good, but they are just a copy of foals with a little more keyboard, haircuts and all.
well not a copy, because they are not nearly as good.

im sorry but i believe foals is much better. foals has much more rhythm and catchy guitar bass and drum lines.
I do like the beginning of this song but it seems that most of their songs kind of lose it throughout the song.

foals are nothing like minnaars, there are some similarities but the fact minnaars put a better show on is the deciding factor.
minnaars and foals started out around the same time, its just foals got spotted first.
