  • If a comedian was nominated and lost, he should appear to be pissed when he learns it. Kind of like the Rowan Atkinson sketch "soar loser" or something. That would be a great comedy moment for the oscars! Has anyone done that before?

  • why she was sitting at the corner?!?! seriously

  • Cate blanchet is overreacting!! come on, her reaction is so fake

  • Poor Julie. Even her celebration looked contrived

  • Im so glad this performance won over Julie Christies woeful performance which I have just recently seen. Im just really glad academy members (for once) saw past the manipulative disability/illness = good acting, I thought Chrisite was actually really camp and goofy.

  • julie chrisitie really fails in acting like she's happy for her

    cate blanchett IS happy

    ellen page is grumpy

    laura linney is disappointed

  • French girls are hot.

  • there is something so hot about her

  • How fucking adorable is this woman?

There's someone who actually appreciates what she has.

  • who is the woman sitting behind her?

  • @santoshgrg umm sally hawkins was up for the oscar the year that Kate Winslet won.

  • @Anon060

  • so cute and perfect, I love her!

  • so precious! I love her!

  • GOD I LOVE HER.

  • Very good actress and superhot too!

  • you're not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Marion is so awesome, i love her :)

  • looks like she've just won a beauty pageant xD

  • hahaha, what a performance. only a french could do so much of pathetic after the postcolonial agression

  • it's okay you are speechless Marion, your looks are the finest words I've ever heard

  • she's adorable

  • Love Marion! so cute!

  • i love marion's response...she's so shocked!

  • MARCEL! MARCEL! MARCEEEEEEL! MARCEL!

  • Forest Whitaker doesn't even seem to know how to pronounced her name right..

  • @470George he worked with her in a movie before this. they're friends.

  • good jesus she's so hot

  • just love her!

  • LOLLL omg words cannot express how much I love Cate >.<

  • @dglidia mira esto, yo sé que te va a encantar!

  • @dglidia mira esto, yo sé que te va a encantar!!

  • It's too bad they cut out the part where Blanchett cringes at the Elizabeth: The Golden Age clip they show, lol.

  • never seen a person win without it been racist make up for loss time politically this is the only time i care

  • J'aime la réaction de Cate Blanchett vraiment très très contente pour Marion visiblement . Heureusement qu'on a Marion pour mettre en avant la France aux Oscars qu'est ce qu'elle esr classe :)

  • @GlenCoco44 stanky farts though

  • @HabituallyObsessed You know your stuff, right on, the critics did not care for Cotillard's movie at all and were so so on her hammy performance. Clearly Julie Chritiste, who won ALL the major critics awards, plus Golden(Drama) and SAG, was a victim of Cotillard's final month aggressive ad campaign and the poor memory of the voters. That french b movie was out in fall 2007, while the wonderful SarahPolley film"AwayfromHer"starring Julie Christie was in the cinemas in spring 2007.

  • AWW marion you're the best (:

  • @cjlowe1970 Bull shit, do you also write children's books?

  • @meedina I agree, as did/do all the Film critics, with the last part of your thougt/sentence, yes "Julie Christie should have won for 'Away From Her' ". You obviously have good taste and can recognize a sublime, subtle, understated performance which was Ms.Chrisite's stellar performance in the lovingly sensitive film "Away From Her". If anyone hasn't seen it, do yourself and view it, you will LEARN something about Love AND Sacrifice!!!!!!!

  • @CherryDee18 OMG, this is beyond HILARIOUS, sort of like saying a big mac is the best meal since a filet mignon at a feast years ago.

  • @LickMyCuntMoFo All of the major critics groups agree/agreed with you!!!!!!!

    VERY Well said, INDEED!!!!!

  • @AlexDeLarge90 Or perhaps a tad stupid like you,Tilda Swinton isn'tfrom England, she's from Scotland& the words European&English are meant to be capitalized, not written as "european"& "english". Also, check your grammar, instead of "as was countless of other actors" the correct phrasing is "as were countless other actors".Also, check your geography, the nation that England is a part of is The United Kingdom which isn't "in" Europe per say on the continent but is part "of" the continent of Europe.

  • @funkeekatt She sounds pretty dumb, but apparently had a slick marketing campaign $ ads etc... to beg for votes, to me shows poor character.

  • @kitvancleave Bull shit, yes she did.

  • @diehardchef SOOOO TRUE!!!

  • @CharmingSage Yes, most critics walked out of the film in the cinemas.

  • @crzyhomey Please don't project, you have no idea what she was thinking, unless you are psychotic & believe you can "read" individual's minds&motives. Not to mention you can't spell:her name-which anyone who knows anything about film would know,as she is 1 of the greatest actresses of the past5 decades- her name is Christie&spelled liked Christie, same as Agatha Christie, if you are literate enough to know this English novelist,as it's apparentyouknowlittle of this English actress.

  • @maxfaxbax @155gerard will eventually go mad, to jail, or die and thus leave poor Cotillard, and those who admire her, to a "free speech" youtube comments line. I never can figure why people like this don't just move on in life.

  • @nathanstan Well said, she's (MC) obviously not too bright.

  • @austinconnoreklund Are you up young one past your bed time, I assume you are just a few years old if this is the best to you in the history of film, good grief!?!

  • @SaxLive "the film was not perfect" this is the UNDERstatement of the year, perhaps that is why she overacted in such a hammy way to compensate for the film's disjointedness and overall b quality weakness.

  • @GlenCoco44 Maybe she had diarrhea and wanted to be on the end near the exit door to the bathroom.

  • @NiceGirl024 That sounds real scientific, and accurate(?), perhaps how most Oscar voters vote, if they even bother to see the films.

  • @neurotiiko Therefore the make up artist should have gotten the award, not the actress for her hammy performance.

  • Her performance in La Vie en Rose was absolutely sensational. One of the best female performances I've ever seen.

  • France must be very proud having an actress of her talent.

  • Well, whether she aggressively campaigned or not, I would hardly call her performance "hammy" or "over the top". I thought she did a lovely job of embodying Edith Piaf. Even Laura Linney stated that what she did in that movie was on a different level from what the rest of them in the category had done. While I was, indeed rooting for Julie Christie, I have no qualms at all about Cotillard winning. She was deserving also.

  • I don't know what is so special about her that made me totally obsessed with her... Amazing actress and woman...

  • Cate was the most exited of all :P

  • omg she's amazing, so beautiful yet actually talented!!

  • @thatsme1945 Most serious actors (ie JulieChristie, RobertdeNiro, the late PaulNewman and late Marlon Brando, JoanneWoodward,LivUllman, AnthonyHopkins, SusanSarandon, VanessaRedgrave, DustinHoffman, AnjelicaHuston, EmmaThompson) would rather win a SAG or a NewYork Film Critics award as they are more genuine and less political and less $market influenced as the Oscars have become.

  • @happenstance0f You must be referring to Julie Christie who won ALL the Critics awards, the Golden Globe and the ScreenActorsGuild SAG award all for Best Actress in a MotionPicture Drama Performance.

  • cate blanchett lol

  • @yabetabe she jumped like roo :D

  • she totally deserved it! Her performance was amazing!

  • @setHunter Amen! It makes me happy that great acting is recognized, even when the film itself may not have received tons of attention - at least we know the Academy is voting democratically....

  • @miguelucho20008 Wrong, more than likely, most probably:

Cate(not Cat)Blanchett-happy that she was nominated for the shit-y film 'Eliz the Golden yrs'(blech)

JulieChristie-not totallysurprised, aseveryoneknew Cotillard wascampainging aggressivelythe finalmonth ofvoting; probablyfeeling relieved doesn't have to get up theretoaccept, as Ms.Christie knows the Oscarsare bu-lsh-tand alreadyWon her3rd NYFilmCriticsAwardand all theotherCritcicsAwards,SAG&Golden.

    The"winner"-gladher$campaignpaidoff

  • @diehardchef Very well said.

  • @austinap5 PLEASE?! Somewhat like comparing an original 1965 Mustang car to a 2010 cheap immitation.

  • @sitiosanguinem stop projecting please

  • @elenaisonfire there was some booing probably due to the fact that many insiders were disgusted that Cotillard went on an aggressive desperate ad $ campaign for votes in thelast month of voting. Christie won ALL the major Film Critic Awards in landslides & Christie&Pagedid zero campaigning, sadly Cotillard's manipulation worked, and some less sophisticated voters fell for the free dvd's sent out in the thousands& liked the hammy, performanceover Christie's sublime, subtle, understatedperformce.

  • Kate Blanchetts Reaction is the best. LOL

  • @xByTheGraceOfGodx OMGgettherapyforyour anger, suggestedreadforyou, a book "The 4 Agreements", it will help you learn to not take things personally& get a handleonyourrageplus will perhaps,if you'reliterate enoughttoget that oneshouldn'tmake assumptions,as I am actually Canadian& part French.Your projection&presumptiousness ishilarious& if youread my othercommentsyouwould seeIfeelKristenScottThomaswho is Frenchshould'vebeennominatedin'09forfrenchfilm"I'veLovedYousoLong",calmdown s'il vous plait

  • I love how all the other nominees look so overjoyed that she won!

  • she is so beautiful

  • This is one of the best deserved oscar ever give!!!

  • This is one of the best deserved oscar ever!

  • THANK u for uploading this!! <3

  • well-deserved win. WONDERFUL PERFOMANCE!

  • Stunning! She's by far the most beautiful woman I've seen in my life!

  • I think she's sweet

  • i absolutely love her.

  • damn she is so hot

  • beautiful both inside and out =]

  • @happenstance06 You are INcorrect, Christie won the SAG, all of the critics awards and the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama (Cotillard got a golden globe for comedy/musical)

  • Well-deserved win. Wonderful performance. Christie was the favorite for her overrated Away From Her performance. I love nuance but that movie was just plain weepy and dull. La vie en Rose was a marvelous film and Cotillard was magnificent.

  • @terradusa4219 Wrong, the critics adored JulieChristie's performance, the less sophisticated viewers such as yourself were impressed by the over the top hamminess of Cotillard's role and performance, plus it is common knowledge that Cotillard campaigned desperately for votes, tres tacky. Try to get out to the cinema more and see some smaller independent films, perhaps this will expand your horizons.

  • Beautiful at its highest level, Marion<3

  • I'm proud to be French :D ♥

  • everytime i see this i get slightly worried shes going to pass out

  • how many times did forest practice saying her name I wonder?

  • @happenstance06 You are INcorrect, Julie Christie won the Screen Actors Guild SAG award, all of the Critics awards and the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, all of these awards were that year in Jan.2008, look it up.

  • woah she was really excited :0

  • I love her!!!! She is too cute!! *.*

  • I love her reaction when she heard her name! She deserves this award, she's an amazing actress.

  • @kitvancleavephd WRONG, you're Hilarious, "people in the business.." Duh... yeah like the Screen Actors Guild SAG Union of working actors who gave their award to Julie Christie in "Away from Her" who was the choice of as you say "people in the business", thanks for a good laugh.

  • @ahvrey Good grief, another way hammy performance, that year-actually last year Annette Bening should have won, Bening won the NYFilm Critics Award, and didn't campaing. Portman campaigned and many critics found the over the top hammy acting a turn off.

  • @baboo1984 You actually laugh at people??? Are you still in jr high school?

Try to reduce the amount of projecting and making of assumptions that you do, usually reflective of poor character and low i.q. .

  • @nachombs Very well said!!

  • Ha Ha, Christie's face...

Anyway, I am in desperate need of rewatching all these nominees.I have no idea who I'll pick!

  • cate sure was excited

  • cate blanchette's reaction was great!

  • @sleater84 The truth is she was a soap opera actress in France prior. Yes, she did get a GoldenGlobe for comedy/musical whereas However Julie Christie won ALL the major critics awards won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, plus SAG award for Best Actress. The songs were part of the performance and she lip sang through much of the role when she wasn't ranting &over acting in this b movie which got no nominations for writing or directing, unlike 'AwayfromHer".

  • @Messylin Not to mention Hammy and over the top, not a subtle performance at all, and it is much easier to do a bio film like this where one can hide behind the make up and costuming plus all of that dubbing of the fake lip singing was ad nauseum, plus of course it is well known that she campaigned very aggressively for votes and apparently succeeded, tacky b movie, tacky, hammy performance and a stinking ruthless campaign

  • I consider this win to possibly be one of, if not THE, greatest choice the Academy has ever made, because they went against their usual grain & honored a semi-dark horse nominee who really should have been the frontrunner all season long. This performance was monumental & one of the greatest performances in the history of any entertainment medium. Stunning, to say the least, work that I will treasure for years to come & I hope she becomes a legend for this role & wins another Oscar someday!

  • @MrWelfarenigger not nice

  • @corodebuos Get a handle on your anger and filthy mouth

  • @CharmingSage Very well said, and the critics agreed

  • @philipc67 Oh please, for one thing you have got to be kidding to compare this french former soap star to the great Vivien Leigh(and by the way she was good in 'Gone with the Wind' but even better in "Streetcar Named Desire" 12 years later; but I give you credit for the good sense to name Leigh and Streep as great actors, but seriously don't lowere Leigh or Streep with this comparison.

  • @diaspen Noone stood because people resented and knew she had been heavily criticized for campaigning as in vote for moi s'il vous plait, s-00-00ooo came across as manipulative and bought, less than genuine

  • @LoveMeryl1 Listen to that filthy mouth of yours, wash your mouth out with soap, get your vision and hearing checked if you liked this hammy performance in this b movie bio poorly written trashy film

  • @s2LaDolceVita Does this Amanda whomever also look like a cross between a female chihuaha and a french bull dog?

  • @mariaangel2003 Listen to your filthy mouth, poor taste in movies too

  • @kitvancleavephd 'Tis a pity your angercauses ou to trytosay insultingthings. She was ok,but quite hammy, check the facts, Julie Christie &Ellen Pagewerethefavorites withChristiewinningALL the Critics Awards (Page was often 1st runner up), the SAG-this isThe Screen ActorsGuildAward& the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Drama. In thefinal weeks of voting,Cotillardcampaigned aggressively, Christie&Pagenotatall.I sawthis bio b filmbothinEng&French. • @Vergina1903 Some of the truly Great and critically accaimed performances of actresses over the past four decades or so are: Julie Christie in "Away from Her", Audrey Hepburn "Two for the Road",JulieChristie"TheGoBetween", Gena Rowlands in "A WomanUndertheInfluence", Joanne Woodward "Rachel,Rachel",yes Ellen Bursyn"Requiem.."SissySpaceck "Crimes of the Heart",JoanneWoodward in"Mr.&Mrs.Bridge",JulieChristie "McCabe&Mrs.Miller"TuesdayWeld"PlayitAsItLays",VanessaRedgrave&SanoiseRonan"Attonement"

  • @kkspice217 Most audience members were somewhat embarrassed as their was controversy over how heavy Cotillard had campaigned to get votes, hmm??

  • @Messylin Very well said!!

  • @liina000 Yes people were shocked that Cotillard's campaigning paid off for her, the onlyofthe 4 candidateswhocampaignedheavily, actually Julie Christiewasreported to have done NO Campaigningas sheclassilychose to not effectvoterschoices, let the membersview&decide, plusshe (Christie)knows the Oscarsareoverrated b.s.& thattrulygreatactors(ie Brando,RobertDeNiro,JoanneWoodward, Liv Ullman, Ingrid Bergman,Deborah Kerr,JackNicholson,DanielDayLewis&J.Christie)respectTheNYFilmCritcsAwardsovertheOscars

  • She was absolutely amazing in La Vie en Rose

  • cate's reaction is absolutely perfect

  • Un Oscar bien merecido actuo de maravilla y la pelicula fue hermosa!

  • One of the most well deserved oscars ever (:

  • she`s so natural I love this video I have seen it like million times- it never get`s old

  • Fucking cutest thing ever.

  • She did not prepared her speech, and i think this is why it was incredible and so emotional ...

  • I always cry a little at this, she's so genuinely happy!

  • waw waw <3 on a de la chance d'avoir une aussi impressionante actrice en France! elle le mérite vraiment cet oscar

  • SHE IS A TRULY STAR. I LOVE HER AND HER JEAN PAUL GAULTIER DRESS

  • @alarigole You make many assumptions, I do speak french, whereas you aren't fluent in English ie your sentence "let met tell you..." (?). Yes, Cotillard did get a Globe but in comedy/music category. Julie Christe won the Golden Globe for Best Perfromance by a Lead Actress in a Drama. Same award Christie received from the prestigious NewYorkFilmCriticsAwards, National Board of Review, National Society of Film Critics & the Broadcast Critics,& UNlike Cotillard, Christie didn't vote beg/campaign.

  • So what ? it's not like she did a very bad performance in "la môme" ( or "la vie en rose" ) , she did a very good job and she deserves at least some kind of reward for her role .

And she also won the Bafta for her role , ( and the cesar but it's not that big for the oscars )

  • most adorable person ever

  • so sweet

  • She is gorgeous! Just see that movie!

  • She deserved it. No doubts, one of the most amazing female performances of all times, i think who criticized her performance don't know who's Edith Piaf. Julie Christie was amazing but Marion was EPIC

  • She is so fantastically beautiful. I'm intimidated just watching this video on youtube.

    Seriously, she's dreamy.

  • beautifull

  • @chochosymphony but remember it is not a beauty contest, and also beauty is on the inside and in the eye of the beholder

  • Honesty is a beautiful thing.

  • @Ayshwaria07 she did Not sing , singing was dubbed

  • @alarigole I thought so, weren't they awful, the more frequently dubbed singing scenes were a bit better, not a terrible performance just tres hammy.

  • @alarigole Recommendation: English lessons and see more cinema.

  • Bless her, Marion, t'es tres belle, ta anglais est donc bien, je t'aime, tu as un actrice incroyable! <3

  • She is perfect.

  • @happenstance06 You'reWRONG Several times: Julie Christie won all major critics awards, The NYFilm Critics Best Actress Award, The Broadcast Critics Award, The National Society of Critics& The National Board Review Award, all for Best Actress. The runner up was Ellen Page. Cotillard did not show up even as a runner up in Critic Awards. Julie Christie also won the SAG award the Screen ActorsAward for BestActress and the GoldenGlobeBestActress inaMovieDrama. Cotillard gottheGolden4musicalcomedy.

  • @alarigole Listen to your filthy mouth, & your poor thing are such an angry person. It is a real character flaw to make assumptions and you make many assumptions re "you must see the film..", you're too much, I did see this Edith Piaf bio B movie which did not get nominations or awards for writing or directing like "Away from Her" did.

See the thing is dear the critics prefer real acting that is subtle & understated(Christies) vs. hammy(Cotillards). She was pretty ok in soap operas in France.

  • @alarigole Suggestions: try to cuss (re: "h-ll) makes you sound trashy, take an English language class, don't miss the unit on grammar and try to get out and see more cinema and see some smaller independent films.

  • @alarigole UNfortunately I did see the "film"(the b movie "La vie en rose") and found it hammy and disjointed and the acting was over the top especially the lead role performance. Not entirely a forgettable film, as I will try to remember to never waste time looking at it if it is on cable.

  • @renfieldvonklauss Is 2007 the only year you went to the movies in the past decade and are those the only two films you sore, you poor thing, at least 'There Will Be Blood" was well written and well acted, unlike the hammy french bio on EdithPiaf.

  • @lolaposen It wasn't totally surprising, certainly disappointing, a few weeks before voting ended, Cotillard wa being criticized-rightfully-for her aggressive marketing& ad campain to try to get votes, UNprofessional and tacky. Julie Christie who won All the major Film Critic awards did zero campaigning, as she was/is too dignified to lower herself, plus probably knows the Oscars are bull sh-t and about $, and the Truly great actors of English speaking cinema know theNYFilmCriticsAwardsarebest.

  • @155gerard you are right julie christie should have won she only lost four awards for her performance

  • @somethingswicked By "class" you may be referring to how it is commonly known that Cotillard campaigned aggressively -vote for moi s'il vous plait- for the award,

Au contraire, on the other hand, the real class was Julie Christie who did not lower herself to campaign, as she already swept ALL of the critics awards which mean something, not the $ emphasis Oscars.

  • @santoshgrg You're half right, yes Sally Hawkins wasgreat in 'Happy.." a year later in 2008. In Dec 2007 Julie Christie won the NewYork Film Critics Award(the creme de la creme for film awards) for Best Actress andthe Oscars were a few months later in early 2008, Christie was nominated & should'vewonbut alas thefilmdidn'tmake huge amountsof$and voterswent for theM.Cottilardhammybio performance. SallyHawkins got theNYFilmCritics awardthenextyearDec'08and you'recorrect, should'vebeennominated
