This is a great album! i'd probably give it a solid 8 to 9... the production is done so carefully and meticulously, I love how they take "cliches" and still make something ambitious out of it, despite some flaws in the album, I think their musicality and their savvy production make up for it :)

i'm a fanboy. currently in the mood that they can do no wrong. owens and JR are brilliant and i can't wait to see what they do next. i definitely think it is the magic of "Album" that has given their music a lot of momentum for me. i don't think every track is gold, but i can enjoy a part of every song i don't like so much. plus their history and attitude as individuals makes me like their music even more.

Album is a grower, Broken Dreams Club EP, is even more of a grower, and Record 3 seems to have the same potential. The more time you give it, the better it gets.

I immediately loved FSHG because I loved the surf rock twang of the opening track, I love dark moody songs that explode like vomit, I love ballads or 'singer-songwriter' (vocals+guitar) songs and even more I ADORE songs that feel very happy but have dark lyrics (like Pumped up Kicks) and this album has it all! I guess this is gonna be my best of '11 together with Chelsea Wolfe's Apokalypsos.

Agree pretty well with everything, I just liked it a bit more. Couldn't agree more on your view of "Just a Song." I think if the longer songs were a little tighter, the whole thing would be better for it. But I like it a hell of a lot.

I actually enjoyed their EP more than Album, and I loved them both to death. The EP showed much more versatility while still sounding great, despite the rawness that Album had. I've listened to Father, Son, Holy Ghost a lot the past day, and I feel like the songs they did right are fantastic (Honey Bunny, Vomit, How Can I Say I Love You, etc.), but the ones they experimented with (Die, etc.) seem either misplaced or just annoying. I agree, I give it a 7, but that could increase pretty soon.

I just started watching this guy. I agree with a lot of his reviews. Pitchfork is too pretentious for me. I can't really rely on them to give fair reviews. In fact, Pitchfork lost all credibility with me when they gave the newest Blonde Redhead a terrible review. Nevertheless, I'm of the persuasion that sound is subjective.
