  • Can you make a bass chord lesson on youtube

  • At first all I saw you posting was "How To..." videos and kinda got thinkin. He plays a damn good warmup.. Thank you for surprising the shit out of me with this XD

  • Is the version on the site the same as you are playing here?

I'm trying to find a simple version to support a guitarist, so I don't need the version you are doing here... but I can't get everything you are playing transposed myself... :/

  • hallelujah was covered by jeff buckley, it isnt his. Just saying ;)

  • @chiefpacman I know :)

  • @chiefpacman its leonard cohens ong, but jeff buckley was the first to arrange it like this. in other words, he made the popular version.

  • @chiefpacman Lol I think he said by Jeff Buckley because the arrangement is quite different.

  • @TheMartini1234 Lol If you listen to John Cale's its quite similar, and Cale's still came first.

  • @chiefpacman Yeah, but he said Jeff Buckley's because it's his arrangement, not Cale's or Cohen's. Regardless of how similar they sound, it's Buckley's arrangment and Buckley singing.

  • @TheMartini1234 with that logic I could say Lady Gaga put her "arrangement" on Imagine, still not her song, still doesn't deserve credit :(

  • @chiefpacman Haha, listen. If it just said "Hallelujah" or "Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen" people would expect this to Cohen's original, which is different. They would then be surprised and mislead because it's to Buckley's version. I think we all know it's a cover. I think that's what he was trying to convey with the title of this video.

  • @TheMartini1234 Yes, this is Jeff Buckleys version. Yes, I know it isn't the original :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 Haha, I know you know, I was trying to tell him that you know... If that makes sense. Because Jeff's arrangement is different! Anyway, great job, I'll definitely have to download it later!

  • @TheMartini1234 Ha ha! I got confused for a second there, lol.

  • @Dmanlamius76 Yeah, to be honest I did too. Anyway, great video!

  • watch?v=e6yXSeM1-E4

    Watch that cover also

  • lesson please!! you have no idea how much i want to play this song!! I'm in a small church group and I am the bass player in the band and I need this song soooooo bad!!!!

  • @LowCalorieVideos There is a very cheap lesson available on my site: Dmanlamius . com Loads of people have learnt from it, and are now performing it at gigs etc :)

  • @Dmanlamius76 Thanks!! I'm gonna buy it!

  • looking forward to learning this in the future. Can't believe the lesson is so inexpensive. I just got my bass today so worked on the lesson 1 video you posted. Thanks and the mention of the hand stretches was appreciated too.

  • da buon bassista mi permetti di dire...bel lavoro :)

  • This is really cool dawg!

  • If I had a card I would buy this striaght away along with your sweet melody song xD keep up the good work man :)

  • So funny in the beginning of the vid.

  • New hat i see :)

  • wow I will defo get round to buying this your so awesome :)

  • Fucking bad it costs money!!!

  • Oh come on man! It's stupidly cheap, and the lesson is long, and you learn a completely unique version of this song, with loads of chords. Whats the standard teaching prices these days £25 an hour? About 40 bucks? Can you keep a bass lesson, and rewind it when you want? There's loads to learn here, at a stupidly low price! ;)

  • @Dmanlamius76 Maybe. But nice play ;-)

  • @Dmanlamius76 i totally agree, its a good lesson and its very cheap

  • man thats awesome!!

  • Haha people are retrded if the think us bass players are gonna just play rythem(btw bass dose harmoney toooo) the guitarist get most of the glory. I went to school and played three songs for random people on my iPod None of them could tell me where the bass was it was really sad! Well I love the video keep it up

  • @assassinsasuke1 i hear you man, most people think the bassist is just standing there, but those people dont realize there's no band without a bassist.(at least no rockband)

  • ah i love the bass being used as a guitar, i play the start of stairway by Zeppelin on mine.

i agree with jpatrickstern and xXBasskidXx

    :)

  • wonderful version.

  • lookin at some of these comments, you can see that some people strongly oppose bass being used like this, no ambition have these people bass is lower, so what? it was ORIGINALLY made for rythm section true, but whos to say it must stay where it began, and that its not allowed to evolve

  • @xXBasskidXx Thankyou....:) That hit the nail on the head.

  • Lol, eh?

  • Id love to be able buy this lesson, the song is so beautiful, but i cant afford it -_-

  • OK. Then if that's the "real" indended use for the bass... why are these notes available on the fretboard?

If it wasn't meant to be played this why then how come it can? Guitar is guitar.

I give serious thanks and props to Dmanlamius76 for treating the bass like the guitar it can be.

  • it doesn't work like that, bass is used for the rhythm, like drums are, they keep everyone in time, but he is playing it there becuase it sounds better

  • Also, what I play never gets as high in frequency as anything played on guitar. That's why I don't understand why he said it. It's all still very low. I'm not entirely sure he understands what he said...;)

  • exactly

  • Originaly it was, yea. But it's not 1902 anymore, it's 2009. People are pushing the bass more and more...

  • Ha ha! Well, this video is actually a year old. This is just a re-upload, because of the PRS-youtube issue. I have loads I need to re-upload. There will be spoken videos again, definatly.
